AC Valhalla PS5 version runs at upscaled 4K

I mean, we all knew this. Only the worst of fanboys thought the power advantage wouldn’t matter. It’s not going to be a massive gap, but there will still be advantages.

You’re not factoring in the secret magic spell Sony cast on the PS5 to make it defy the laws of computing. Ooh, there’s going to be some serious sulking from Xbots when they flip the switch and first party games actually take an Uber to Best Buy for you, upgrade your tv and run at 16k. Sony killing it.

Hopefully, we get an official confirmation about both..

Everyone would be surprised if it was native on Series X.

How credible are dualshockers? They say Ubisoft has confirmed with them, how can we confirm that? Why hasn't ubisoft just mentioned it as dynamic 4K instead in their official site, rather they've said it as 4k(no upscale wording).

Upscaled 4K sounds worse than Dynamic 4K

It all depends on how low the resolution goes, in cases where the res goes just slightly below 4K, like 1800p, then dynamic 4K is perfectly fine, but if we're talking about 1200-1440p then upscaling (CBR) is a much preferable solution. Still, IMO the combination of the two like in Gears 5 is basically a flawless solution, you get both the performance and great image quality no matter the circumstances.

I bet GAFgold it doesn't even keep 60 fps consistently with the dynamic resolution... on both next-gen consoles.

60 fps AC is a pipe dream without too much hit to IQ via settings or res reduction, the Ubi team(s) just suck at CPU optimisation for some reason and then they add too much physics interaction and too many NPCs on top of it sucking.

Thinking must be "Oh we can't do much to keep 60fps even when we cut down the scale of the IQ and the NPC/physics count so lets just put in what we want from an immersion perspective because the framerate is already small-fucked so know cares if its medium-fucked".

I really hope it has a lock to 30 option so I can just enjoy the IQ. I don't play AC games for framerate because going above 1080p (+ optimised settings) usually means drops below 60 so I gave up a few years back.

The new GPUs should solve this issue... but only for this AC... not the next-gen one. Then we'll be back in the AC:Unity situation again I'm betting although hopefully will be above 30 fps on launch day on consoles this time lol.

Did they ever fix the one frame stutter than happens when it adjusts resolution because I couldn't use DRS in Gears 5 because of that. I just ended up running it at 1800p, to get locked 60, which was annoying because with DRS it was native 4K quite a bit.

Its in the DF video, which I saw after playing the game and made me realise it wasn't a problem with my HW.

last GEN
Xbox One S --- Its a weak console cant run games ..boooh 720p low frames...low graphics. Playstation supah powaa

This GEN
Who runs games at 4k !! its a waste of resources lol

We are dealing with much higher resolutions as a baseline. You shouldn’t be comparing 720p 900p to 1440p and up plus reconstruction techniques.

The graphics baseline has significantly increased.

I think it's semantics but I'd be inclined to agree. Upscaled to me sounds like it renders at the same resolution all the time then is upscaled either by the PS5 itself or by the TV

Which brings up another point that we should not be taking a PR person as proof of anything final.

Think I'm with you here. Unless the game is running in 1440p or lower dynamically on XSX and PS5 I dont see this hitting 60 most of the time. I'll be pleasantly surprised if I'm wrong.

I have both pre ordered but from my experience on PC I literally can’t tell the difference between native 1440p and 4K using screenshots so it’s not a big deal if I fancy one on a certain console but it’s not native 4K but dynamic or even 1800/1440p.

NEXT LEVEL lame™
I have a feeling that trying to get this thing to run at 4K/60fps on consoles is going to turn out to be a mistake. I'd take a solid 4K/30fps over 4k and an inconsistent 60.

Pc is not a closed box, consoles punch above their specs. Locked 4K is on the table imo.

Please, its a myth, always has been. DF proved it at the start of this gen with its 750ti powered budget PC pulling better reults than the more powerful PS4.
Is it possible that it will be native 4k on XSX?, yes, but dont count on it. And even if it does, it wont be pushing serttings anywhere close to 'Ultra'.

People attacked me for this before, but the real winners of EARLY next gen are people with 1080p sets, and people with good 4k sets that properly scale 1080p(this is rare in cheap sets). To get a full uncompromised non-scaling picture.

1080p will not notice any dynamic resolution decreases, nor any oddities from 4k Upscaling.

It's not meant to be a "flex" it's a fact that 1080p 60 is finally a REALITY at least while devs figure out these new machines.

Full 4K 60 on xbox series X
From the Ubisoft Blog this week:

c8e812db665187fa45c373a3e48a1455.png

Series X: "4K resolution at 60 frames per second on Xbox Series X"

PlayStation 5: "detailed 4K at 60 frames per second visuals"

SO the Series X is 4K resolution at 60, PS5 is detailed 4K... hmm

Ubisoft is weird. No mention of upscaling here. I think Dualshockers made a mistake. We'll see. But nobody should run with the W yet

I thought DRS was broken in my game last night but I then I realised I had pan-fried a steak in butter for my dinner an hour ago and my glasses were all greased/fogged up! :messenger_tears_of_joy:

Not claiming anything just saying xbox series x is confirmed full 4k 60.

Wasn't this expected? Can't wait for the DF dive deep into this with all the Pauses, Zoom, slow-motions. I don't understand why 3rd party games, that many people point out aren't optimized for platforms, is the barometer for power difference... when we all know the best looking games will be the exclusives on these platforms. Just seems like weird logic to me.

In the PS4/One gen I always thought the Gears/Forza games were some of the best looking games on any platform... and yet, the One was always made fun of for being weak cause on 3rd party games it did a little worse than PS4 🤷‍♂️

Do you know what happened to that very same 750ti further into this generation? Or how it runs recent games like Horizon/Doom Eternal with similar settings compared to PS4?..

Could be truth to it... could be bad info from the PR person.

Likely won't make much of a difference but is semi-interesting if true.

Why hello again lol

Not sure what you're so confused about, we had an ENTIRE GENERATION of people bitching and whining for 1080p 60 and now we're finally getting THAT. That is something that next gen is genuinely fulfilling.

OH I get it, you're believing all the hype, ok. You're going to have a bad time. I'm glad you're entertained. It's much easier to post moronic pictures than responding.

If you NOTICE by READING I did say that, EARLY NEXT GEN, as in the next half year of it, the most consistent thing you're going to see is 1080p 60 with 4k being a mixed bag from all sources.

They literally say they received it from Ubisoft PR, how is it FUD?

Only question now is if SX version is also running upscaled. We will know on the 10th when it’s out.
An Ubisoft pr that says it's upscaled... Is it the TV up scaling? Can't remember if the PS5 has an upscaling chip.
Do you know what upscaling is mate?

Here we go again. Ok let's presume it's not native 4k on ps5 (though I doubt will be on serie X neither looking to the crazy pc specs required) how much we are talking about? Would be laughable such difference if we are talking about 2016p Vs 2160p.

Probably worse i guess. It was a budget card when it came out, and no one even has one anymore in 2020. Doesnt change the fact it was pulling better results when the card still had some relevance.
