AC Valhalla PS5 version runs at upscaled 4K

And 2021, 22, 23, 24....
If we want 60fps and/or high graphic effects (like ray-tracing) etc... we will have to deal with upscaled 4K often.

and on both machines.

I WISH we could get more native 1440p games personally. The Unreal Engine 5 demo was running at 1440p and none of us cared because it looked so good.

I can bet my ass it will be dynamic 4k 60 on series x aswell , games like assasin creed and legion are brutal even on the highest ends of pc , ill be genuinely surprised if its native 4k 60 all the time on series x

5700XT/2080 are the recommended cards for 4K30 so I wouldn’t be surprised if they’re both using dynamic resolution to hit 60fps.

LoL what a mess, these guys need to release a statement definitively stating what the resolution and fr is on each console, whether its upscaled or not, either way this will inform people who are paying money for these games so they should be clear.

Upscaled 4k is not the same as native.

Not too bothered if something's native 4k or upscaled, I'd rather it runs smoothly.

Interesting thought that the wording here might indicate that XSX will have a performance advantage for multiplats. If that's the case, your boi's keeping his pre-order.

I mean, we all knew this. Only the worst of fanboys thought the power advantage wouldn’t matter. It’s not going to be a massive gap, but there will still be advantages.

3D audio?? I'm happy to see many games supporting this feature, but since Tempest Engine consumes a lot of RAM bandwidth, every developer using it should offer an option to choose between 3D audio or classic audio and better performace/resolutions (expecially if the game uses a dynamic rendering approach, just like in this case).

Upscaled as in checkerboarded?

PS5 should be able to do native 4k 60 fps for all cross gen games. I wonder if they are using PC ultra settings or if there is a bottleneck somewhere.

They literally say they received it from Ubisoft PR, how is it FUD?

Only question now is if SX version is also running upscaled. We will know on the 10th when it’s out.
do they?

ubisoft states that both are 4k60fps.
but somehow ubisoft manage to contradict it self for no good reason and for no name writer? and that writer even manage to publish this which is even remote true would be under nda for that matter.

yeah, no, thanks. fud.

Ehh I don’t really care about resolution differences, it’s the rest .. the effects, lod distance, shadow quality.. etc

Did you really expect anything else? Even pcs can have trouble with 4k ultra Ray tracing.

Key word right there, consoles will never run with Ultra settings (with only exception being Gears 5), it's just a huge waste of resources for invisible changes most of the time, Medium-High is where it's at, always have been, always will be, the devs will use the power budget for denser geometry, more objects, higher draw distance etc. rather than boosting the visual effects way beyond the point it's even noticeable.

Yeah it doesnt really work like that. A 2080ti drops into the 50's, and even 40's at 4k Ultra on AC Odyssey.

Well that just justifies my reasoning to get both the X and 5.

I wonder if you will actually be able to tell the difference. The difference between 1800p and 2160p (for example) is way smaller and harder to notice on a 4K 55"/65" screen (at a normal viewing distance) than the difference between 900p-1080p of a full-HD (1080p) screen.

It's about deminishing returns and the fact that 900p (which some are referring to in the XBONE VS PS4 days) was below native resolution on a panel with a low pixel-density (fullHD).

So what i want to know is... of ps5 version is dynamic 4k, and series x is native 4k... does that mean if MS went with dynamic 4k could they push 120fps? Or more graphical bells and whistles than the ps5 version? I mean if dynamic 4k is "just as good" and series x has extra power then...

Or they are both dynamic, and barely drop res.

Or PS5 1600-1800 XSX 1800 - 2060 or locked 4K.
After years of tech understanding/engineering/architecture analyses. I like to think I understand things at a deep level.

From what I have seen from public showings, and also some behind the scenes stuff. I feel the XSX will be around 35% more capable.

I can see XSX being native 4k(2160P), and PS5 being dynamic 4K(1440-1800P). Might be able to just stretch x2048 with some optimisations or slightly lower settings in play.

Will the difference be noticeable? I don't think it will for this game. However, when newer games come forward with raytracing, I can imagine a more noticeable difference between the two platforms.

Should you care? No. You should know what you are getting when you purchase each system at this point.
A next gen beast that is incredible value, or a decent next gen machine, with an incredible controller.

AC Or and AC Od are using dynamic resolution on consoles.

AC Va is doing exactly the same with high FPS target on NG platforms, I would be VERY suprised if XSX version is any different than PS5 in this regard. It probably holds higher resolution longer or higher average FPS.

It is much "simpler" than that. Are you about performance, tech and stuff like that? Go with the Xbox. Do you fancy a more Lifestyle based approach with a unique design? Go PS5.

Or to put i even simpler: the nerds buy xbox, the cool kids buy Ps. And that is not a distinction in quality but more of a description of archetypes of people.

I'm getting a PS5 and fully expected this to be the case. I'm expecting it for the generation. Maybe a pro refresh if we get one might give a bump. Dynamic will be used when scenes get heavy, the edge here goes to MS. Sony have their own selling points to look past it if you want.

People expecting a stable 4k60 in assiss creeed and 20-30 % boost over a 2080ti need a reality check I agree and trying to read into wording or lack of wording as anything definative.

Dont get your hopes up, neither console is smashing a 2080ti and a PC class CPU running at almost 5 Ghz.
