"Cyberpunk 2077 needs 4-5 months of work to be polished and ready" Reddit undercover CDPR dev vetted by Jason Schreier

What was up with the character movement? I thought it was just low framerates on console, but I played on PC so only heard about it.
IIRC the movement gave priority to the animations over the player input, so it looked nice but felt really janky.

The introduced an "alternative" input method, which is the default one now.

It was a bit clunky and unresponsive. They later added a more fluid movement and you can now switch between both in settings.

Ah right, just watched a video of the difference. Seems like they relaxed the animation blending and reduced the lag caused by that. RDR 2 could do with a similar option but a bit late now.

Don't know organization hierarchy at Cyberpunk. Did a top business person make that decision with no dev input? Or did they count on patching it, but rather push it for release this year despite lower review score for better sales/less competition in Nov/Dev?

He'll "vet" whoever fits his agenda.

And again, one developer in a team of hundreds usually does not have much visibility on the actual state of the game.
lmao, what a bias take.

What agenda is it? He isn't in this position without credibility. Tell me which story previously he has lied about?
Cdpr's no crunch promise? You mean the one cdpr ceo personally told him? Or perhaps your bs are more credible?

One developer? You mean the boss/ceo is clueless? Even as he says he isn't comfortable with the date? You mean the one where he just recently apologize to the entire team for the crunch again? How many developers do you know?

His "vetting" is to show that that random reddit user claiming as cdpr employee is not actually "random". His vetting is not affirming that "5 months more" is absolute.

Your bias against a journalist who reported with the facts is the agenda visible here.

PS5 launch lineup is so strong they know they’re going to lose a huge chunk of sales that were going to wait until the next gen patch. Insane. ;)

This is something to be taken with a grain of salt... like 4chan postings. Let us not put our cards into this
They did just delay 3 weeks. 2 weeks before Christmas isn’t a bad time to launch a game. But it is when you’re launching after brand new consoles are released and your game is last gen.

They should just come home to their roots and fuck consoles off.

Would be best for everyone involved.
Not for their wallets. Games like this can run like shit that most "normies" would still buy them in droves.

He is a cunt, but his knowledge in the industry is unrivalled, even his biggest critics can admit that.

No they don't. Absolutely every game would be "much better" if it had an extra 4-5 months development before release, ergo this is one of those absolutely bullshit stories which is (surprise!) impossible to deny because the underlying assertion is correct... even if the rest is a complete utter lie concocted from a bitter twisted perverted poisoned mind (Schreier's).

We have no evidence of devs chatting with him like he's their best buddy, we have no evidence of anything wrong happening at CD Projekt Red. We have nothing, just the obvious fact a game would be better with more months of dev time. Whoop-de-doo, let's go on a social media virtue signalling rampage.

Any chance that this this will be a world wide release across all platforms at once, including the next-gen patch?

That way nobody will care how crappy it looks on currrent gen consoles because "woah, look at the ray tracing and shiny graphix"?

What agenda is it?

If you haven't seen Schreier's rabid agenda against CD Projekt and their work practices, you have not paid attention.

It's funny that you'd accuse anyone else of "bias" to defend literally the most shamelessly biased "journalist" (more like a closet politician and mediocre book peddler) in the industry.

Incidentally, it's funny how this supposed developer moves the goalposts from one post to the other.

First, the game is "not terrible" then it suddenly turns into "coming out to be a great game."

Never trust "sources" that lack internal coherence. But of course, Schreier will trust them when they fit his agenda and narrative.

Like every big and ambitious open world basically, the polish is never enough.

Rdr2 had disappearing characters in the camp for the first 2-3 chapters, days gone had a lot of glitch and botw had severe framerate problems in both consolles, i can continue all day.

It doens't mean that cd project are not at fault here, it's just nothing new for people who buy a lot of open world games.

Jesus fucking Christ, now we are gonna trust every anonymous source on the internet? lmao. It could be even me trolling on reddit and suddelny everyone would trust that. That's pretty hilarious

I don't want to downplay this but you have to wonder what "done" even means, not only to the developer, who can see all the cracks in the foundation up close, but even in this day & age, where games are constantly being polished and touched up, post-release. I suppose The Witcher 3 wasn't actually "done" until quite a while after it's release.

Nothing is ever "done" in software development. You can always add more.

But to delay something it means there have to be some aspects that have the potential to cause a lot of players to have a bad experience.

Software/games typically get released "when it's good enough" rather than when it's perfect.

Although it's important to state that the threshold of "good enough" is different for every developer/studio/publisher. I'd like to think that CDPR have higher standards than most other studios.

So common sense makes this more credible? Is that what you are trying to convey here?

Want there a thing saying the pc version is fine and it's current gen system giving them the issues. I don't see how that can be that long if that's the case

It will be fine. Coming/going in hot is not too uncommon in AAA, as much of a horrible practice it is. It will be more than A-OK.

Every one of these folks throwing shade at CP:2077 and its development have been annoying AF. Jesus.

Did you played it on ps4? Borderline unplayable at launch, with noticeable slowdowns, and very bad controls.
On PC at launch I ran into so many bugs that were annoying as fuck, so much so that I put it down and didn't pick it back up. The amount of times I fell through the environment happened more than in any other game I had ever experienced.

Bummer, but at least I can save up some money and upgrade my PC before it releases.

Meanwhile I can play some Switch and PS5 games.
