UPDATE: Site is probably getting hammered. This is not a limited supply situation - plenty to go around. If it becomes frustrating to get through just bookmark the link/thread and pick another time that's convenient for you.

============================================================

Q: What is the PlayStation Camera adaptor and what does it do?

The PlayStation Camera adaptor is used to connect the PlayStation®Camera* (sold for the PlayStation®4 console) to a PlayStation®5 console. This allows the use of PlayStation®VR when playing supported PS4™ games on a PS5™ console, including games that require PlayStation®Move or PlayStation®VR aim controllers.

*Model CUH-ZEY1 or CUH-ZEY2

Please note: The new HD camera for PS5 is not compatible with PS VR. You will need to use the PS Camera (for PS4) with a PlayStation Camera adaptor (no purchase required) to use PS VR on PS5.

Q: Who qualifies for the PlayStation Camera adaptor?

Anyone who owns a PS VR headset qualifies to receive a PlayStation Camera adaptor with a limit of one per household.

Q: How can I get a PlayStation Camera adaptor?

Please visit playstation.com/camera-adaptor and complete the form to request your free adaptor.

Q: What should I do if I cannot find my country in the drop-down list on the webform?

If you cannot find your country in the drop-down list please contact your local distributor or retailer for support. Contact details are listed in the support information section of your PS VR manual.

Q: What details do I need to provide to make a request?

It will vary by region, however you should be prepared to provide your PS VR processor unit serial number, first name, last name, email address, shipping address, and phone number. Check the rear panel of the PS VR processor unit to find the serial number, which begins with the letter C, M, or P depending on your region.

Q: Why was my serial number not accepted on the webform?

Make sure you have provided the serial number from your PS VR processor unit, which begins with the letter C, M or P. If you are still unable to use your serial number, please contact PlayStation support for additional troubleshooting.

Warranty & Troubleshooting

Q: What is the warranty for the PlayStation Camera adaptor?

A: This product is covered by the manufacturer’s warranty for 12 months from the date of delivery. Please refer to the warranty included with the PlayStation Camera adaptor if you requested it separately, or the warranty statement included with your PS VR for full details.

Q: How do I connect the PlayStation Camera to my PS5 console using the PlayStation Camera adaptor?

A:
  • Step 1: Connect the PlayStation Camera adaptor to a USB Type-A port on the back of your PS5 console. The PlayStation Camera adaptor cannot be used with the PS4 console.
  • Step 2. Connect the PlayStation Camera to the AUX port on the PlayStation Camera adaptor.
For further guidance on setting up your PS VR, camera, and console, please refer to the instructions included with each product.

Don't bother trying this today - you either get stuck at the captcha, or it just moans about the serial not working and tells you to phone support.

The first link seems to only allow EU addresses, but it was letting me put my info in.

The global link just gets the error and tells me to call customer service. Maybe there's just an issue with the NA part of it so far.

Ordered
But I don't understand why the VR processor SN was needed, why not the Camera?
cause you can have the camera just for streamming... and they want you to buy the new camera for streaming... the adaptor is only for VR users... that's why they ask for the VR processor.

I really hate this captcha stuff btw. It gives you some grainy ass tiny picture and wants you to figure out of those 4 pixels are a traffic light. Then it gives you an error and you are left wondering if it was just a street light or if the system is just fucked.

Anyone know if this is a limited-time thing? Like if I buy a PS5 a year from now, can I still get a free adapter then? Or should I go ahead and get the adapter now?

Then again, I gotta imagine a year from now there's at the very least going to be news about PSVR2. Or it'll actually be released, if we're lucky.

Worked fine for me, thanks for the thread.
Do we get a confirmation mail for this or only a shipping notification?

Edit: we even get a confirmation by email (1-2hours later) without any address etc.

Do you have a PSVR at the moment? If yes, just get it.
If not, you can buy one of the newer PSVR bundles, which should include the adapter (at least in Japan).
If everything fails, I bet that there will be cheap adapters on eBay like in the past (to use the PS Camera with PC)

I do have a PSVR, but I'm too lazy atm to dig it out, find my serial number, and type my address into a form. I'd rather type random nonsense here.

Also eh, I'll probably just buy a nice PC VR headset soon, probably won't ever use my PSVR ever again regardless, and I'll just see how PSVR2 turns out.

If I were you, I would take the time and look for it.
Thanks to the adapter, you should be able to hook up the PS Camera on PC and could use the Move Controllers on PC as normal controllers or as an option to track your feets (theoretically).

In the end Sony sends it out for free and you will will never know, when you will have the sudden urge to play PSVR on PS5 ^^

Mate, it's free. Do a tiny little effort and Sony will do the rest. You don't even pay shipping.

The process is super simple and quick.
