I hope Sony didn't skimp on protective packaging to try and make the retail box look smaller on shelves... that could be a very bad decision if people come home with busted consoles. Otherwise i think the packaging looks great. (y)

Sony uses a proprietary 3D Audio tech... neither Atmos or DTS:X.

That's going to be excellent with all those 4K and next gen Bluray movies everyone wants to watch with it.

That "3D AUDIO tech doesn't work in MOVIES that are mastered for DTS:X and Dolby Atmos...

That tech is for STEREO, not MULTIPLE CHANNELS.

Xbox didn't ship with Dolby Atmos out of the box but was able to integrate it later. Like I said I don't think this is a big deal overall.

You guys with that 3D AUDIO line though lol, so fast to use it, even when it doesn't any sense at all, this is going to be a fun realization moment for so many.

I like how Sony is not deceitful about the nature of backward compatibility (even if 11 PS4 games were found not to be compatible, they still don't claim 100%)... MS on the other hand goes full used car salesman claiming backward compatibility all the way to the of Xbox, even though it supports barely any og Xbox games and about 1/4 of the 360 library (did they even test the one library to tell us what doesn't work from the xone library... If anything).

I can't believe Sony delivered them before November 1st. 3 weeks early is actually pretty good. I thought it'd be 7-14 days before release the media would be getting their PS5s.
Well due how transportation logistics works I believe some will get it next week like most EU outlets but their launch is a week later too.

Is he honestly being paid by MS these days?

By the time we get to actual 8K we'll have a much higher HDMI than 2.1, putting this on the box is almost misleading, what PS5 or the XSX can play in 8K is going to be very limited. There's no shame in saying 4K which is honest and realistic, not sure why they didn't stop there.

Yes both machines can SCALE to 8K technically, but why put this on the box?

The 8K is for "video" mainly. So it's not misleading for either side to put it on the box. Plus, I imagine some games will be 8K in a couple years. They'll just be super simple looking games, but still 8K.

They put both.

8k for vídeo.
4k 120fps for games.

I thought these consoles can play movies in 8k?

It's not misleading, HDMI 2.1 can output 8K signal at 60Hz. Also they are selling it for Sony Z8H 8K TV, upscaled. 4K@120fps already could do 8K@30fps by the way. Branded as "Ready for PS5".
