Where’s my Genealogy remake, Nintendo?
Hopefully this paves the way for that, Mystery of the Emblem/New Mystery, Tharcia 776, and The Binding Blade.

Digital download only on that physical edition? Wat? Man I really want to play this game but that should be a physical cart!!!

It is just a 30MB file so I imagine they don't feel like it is worth it to do a real cart but totally understand where you are coming from.

I grew up with the NES but that looks and sounds kinda bad even for the era. Final Fantasy for NES came out 3 years earlier and had bigger, more detailed sprites in its battle scenes.

Would have been nice to be included in NSO, I can see why they would ask for some money in exchange for localization and some of those enhancements.

But everything else about this baffles me. This limited digital release nonsense has to stop. There is absolutely no reason why this digital copy should disappear. It’s not like Nintendo drops the price of their games so there is no risk of holdouts.

The physical version is a mess too. Not only is there no physical Switch cart, the NES cart is also a replica. The other stuff looks cool for a fan but don’t market this as a physical game release - it’s not even close.

So are there no preorders on the anniversary edition? I prefer fighting people on release day anyway, it’s a lot more fair.
Nothing yet. Not sure if this is going to be a retail release or direct to consumer. I could see the latter being the case since it is a smaller release and Nintendo has been testing those waters with the NES/SNES controllers.

If I see it go up for preorder I'll post it.

Awesome news that it’s being released, but absolutely ridiculous that another game is getting the “Disney Vault” treatment with the digital version especially. Nintendo is setting precedents that make me worry about future releases in general.

At this point I'm just ignoring any game they pull this shit with. I can play the originals just fine.

I didn’t even realize there was an NES Fire Emblem game. Three Houses was my first one, despite being big into JRPGs ever since FF1 and Dragon Quest/Warrior 1.

This is unbelievably cool, but from what I understand, expectations should probably be tempered a little bit. FE didn’t nail it on the first try, and picked up a lot of the features we expect today, along the way.

As was said earlier, I really hope this opens up a possible avenue for the later games to get this treatment, which would be a lot more impressive, and a much needed break from Weeb Emblem.

I have a hunch that Nintendo is doing this because they're going to have a subscription based virtual console, launching next year at around the same time that they release a Switch Pro/Revision.

Yes, would be great to Super Famicom titles finally localized.

Understand the sentiment around the Anime like quality of the the newer titles. Ironically Awakening is the game that saved the series and brought in the more anime elements. As I understand it they were ready to give up on the series due to waning sales and Awakening was a 4th quarter Hail Mary.

No interest in playing the game, but that's a really cool physical edition. Hopefully it sells well and sets the market for Nintendo to do more stuff like this in the future.

Digital? Are digital data limited or something?
Four Swords on 3DS was also limited (digital only) and was eventually delisted (I don't think they brought it back) so yeah they've done it with digital before.

They usually do this with the anniversary games to make them feel special. It's kind of dumb but it's there game so whatever.
