You gotta love that, right. I never had a backlog before Game Pass, now I have too many games I want to play, including like you said, this game and The Medium, The best part is I don't have to pay $70 each for the privilege.

Its the best. Especially after buying a new console which is already expensive. What a fucking great service.

This looks pretty shit, to be honest. It looks like they're trying to sell the whole game on the Giger aesthetic. It's the only memorable thing about it. Which unfortunately also makes it visually really boring after about a minute of identical scenery.

Very interesting the way the gun changes by replacing the front part of it. Great atmosphere. Game looks good. I've never been good with creepy/scary games, I'll probably have to sit this one out :messenger_tears_of_joy: For those that like them... enjoy!

Doom 2016 on base Xbox One S looks better ..
Also, i see many frame drops but maybe youtube is to blame.
Despite the flaws i see regarding its presentation i would be intrested to play this

I don't know what the game is all about, but a developer should show an objective and explain game features while progressing in his demo. This video is an example of bad marketing.
I mean, even if your game sucks, show the best part of it. For example, Crystal Dynamic kept showing that bridge scene from the Avengers game ( the only good part of that game) 🤣

LMAO if you think I'm a fanboy of any kind. My triggered response was how you contradicted yourself in your own post. Had nothing to do with anything else.

You on the other hand, ouch.
Why even waste time with these people?

Complete fanboys.
Yeah, I shouldn't bother.
You are the ones coming into an Xbox thread just to shit on it. I get that you are suffering from power envy, but at least be honest with yourselves about it.

The art is cool, but it looks incredibly boring, and also weirdly obnoxious. Hey, look at this weird looking weapon with weird sucking noises and stuff...that shoots!
My thoughts exactly. I mean it's a first person shooter. I don't expect Quake level of twitchiness, but I can easily see myself falling asleep playing this.

Show me where I "shit on it" exactly.

I said it looks bland, a bit slow, but liked the art style. You're just creating bullshit in your own head.

Also, what's with that last comment? You have absolutely no fucking idea what you're talking about.

It's better than I thought, but it is still a pumped current gen game. This game could be released on the current hardware with few adjustments.

Watching the game and actually playing the game are two very different things
I'm sure they haven't shown everything (on purpose)

Looks pretty unique and interesting to me. Gunplay was clearly not the focus - but the unsettling atmosphere certainly ticks all the right boxes for me. Definitely looking forward to this one.

I fell in love with Scorn from the earliest trailers but this somehow looks different. I don't know what happened but it seems off.

This 3 year old gameplay somehow looks better imo. Maybe it's the FOV maybe it's the level graphics design or graphics in general. I feel like it even gives off a better vibe/mood.

I even love the old trailer from 2016:

Maybe this never really worked as a game. Artsy tech demo yes but when you try to make a working game out of it... Yeah.

Maybe the full game offers that mood again and better pace.

Wrong. The whole point of the game in the first place was that it was being made for high end PC's, with no current gen console version holding it back.
It also looks better than anything so called 'next gen' so far imo.

*Yaaaawn* i swear some of you guys are never happy, what do you expect from a ten man team?

I think it looks unique, artstyle looks super interesting, certainly better than 90% of the bland shit that gets pushed out today. Day 1 for me

Not everything has to be aaa

Bit of a shame how prominent the gun model is on screen for how infrequently it's used. Feels like it distracts from the environment art too much. Hell, even the shooting mechanics being in the game at all feel out of place. I was expecting this to be like Amnesia or Outlast where a lot of time is spent hiding or fleeing. The AI seems dopey and non-threatening too.

I like the Alien movies, but I'm not sure what's going on here. Is this an alien craft? Is it hell? There's no specific threat, just uninspired somethings in short supply and that manky sound when he loads the gun. Frankly it's pants.

I guess the trailer is mostly to show off the design and graphics, and the inspiration the devs have been taken from Giger. I'm sure there will be more context following release. I have a hard time believing all you do in the game is wandering around in crazy environments doing nothing but pull levers and kill the occasional monsters.

Seems like the same game we saw way back when. Gameplay is not too exciting. I'm afraid I saw nothing to make it seem really engaging and tense. Environments looks samey, it's as if you are just running around in a maze with the same walls. Nothing exciting about the enemies so far.....I mean if you remember the first Deadspace, that game brought the excitement right away. The horror, the atmosphere, the physics, the guns the mechanics were all really well done. I fear, this will be compared to Deadspace and it will fall short quite a bit.....Graphics are not bad, but the environments are small and samey. Also, the quality seen here is certainly not as good as the trailer we saw earlier this year....

When you just have to get your Halo 3 Cortana level fix with an overload of Giger.

The atmosphere in this game and detail is insane, a real masterclass in art immersion even. It would have been nice to see more gameplay in my gameplay though.

This game in VR would be a trip.

In fact I think you mentioned this way back, and I didn't see the issue then, either.

not sure what you mean by that one.. don't think I've seen this before

Are people expecting a shoot-shoot, bang-bang FPS style of game? It really makes me wonder how some gamers today would've responded to something like System Shock if it came out in 2020 and the game defaulted to the Puzzles and Adventure parts being the dominant parts of the gameplay?

Maybe the average span of patience for a slower-paced experience with the typical gamer is dead now. Sad, because it was those kind of shifts (whether genuine or assumed) that caused survival horror to shift to a much more action-heavy design with games like RE4 leading the pack in that regard. There's a reason Capcom took so long to port the Gamecube RERemake and RE0 to PS4, XBO and PC....

I've always seen this game as more adventure-like with some puzzle elements and a big survival-horror feel, and intentionally light on action or shooting. So maybe saying parts of it are "Myst-like" is more in line with what they are intending? That explains things like the reload time; you wouldn't just fire off all your bullets in classic RE games and hope to reload swiftly on the spot while monsters were still around. Slow reloading works as a game mechanic in some style of survival-horror games because it forces you to be strategic with your confrontations. I don't know why this is being glossed over or not considered in this game's case 🤷‍♂️
Your points seem to be based on an assumption that their design goal is to have this be a really slow, steady movement game? Myst-like? Is that like a stated ambition of theirs? Maybe you know more than me~

I just mentioned Myst because it looked like a camera orbiting around a prerendered scene, slowly, with a bobbing gun glued to it, waiting patiently for carefully animated, arcane machines to click through their gears. For mine, that's an incredibly outdated feeling.. i reckon if they made Myst today it'd not play like that.

I mean, they've got gunplay and guns, it's not too long a bow to draw to assume that it's intended to be an FPS. Unless you've seen like developer interviews etc where they suggest the things you've said, it looks to me like you're kinda grasping at this Myst gameplay goal as a way to explain what looks, to me, like a very lackluster title.

.. And i think it looks like that because they've put all their time into creating, then optimising, detailed hr giger assets to run at 4k60 (or whatever) instead of making a game with any kind of soul..

They're a very small team.. okay. Looks like they need some of the Microsoft billions to hire another dude or two to flesh out that side of the game.

I wish I could explain in detail what I didn't like about it. It was almost like it was too bright or washed out. Seems like it being darker with better lighting would make it creepier. I'll still try on gamepass, because why the hell not.

Why Microsoft and why Xbox Series X exclusivity?

The authenticity of the game and being able to develop it as we conceptualized it is the highest priority. Before deciding to partner with Microsoft we made sure that they will not have any influence over the game's concept and development process. They were more than cooperative in that regard. The only thing they were interested in was exclusivity rights. Once all that was agreed upon it was a no brainer decision when you look at all the benefits Scorn will get from this partnership, from additional resources to much bigger exposure(marketing). It will certainly help us make Scorn a better, polished game in the end.

This looks super generic with a cool aesthetic that they wanted to maintain throughout the experience. Really slow and boring from what I saw..... no thanks. Is it me, or is there a lot of motion blur when he moves? Could just be the video.

Stealth Edit: Could this game suffer because Microsoft is hyping this game up too much like Sony and No Man's Sky?
Microsoft hasnt hyped this game at all. Please take you blinders off. Its an indie title that they showed briefly once. Just because the developer decided to make it exclusive, doesnt mean that MS is responsible for the gameplay or anything in the game.

Looks sooo boring. Maybe if I drink a bunch before playing it? But it will probably sit in my gamepass for a while until I get really bored.

Not going to waste any more time on a clear fanboy.
Good. Not like there was a valid argument comparing to a company with experienced developers. Im sure if it was exclusive to ps5 people would be jizzing all over it. Its a strange or interesting indie title and nothing more. Gameplay is hit or miss with any indie game.

Gameplay seems more about finding your way to the exit on each level then it is about combat.
