OP edits thread: “I removed the picture because it’s against my personal policy to attack someone’s personal looks”

Flip forward

“You know real well what I‘m talking about. She looks like a typical feminazi.”

😂😂😂 You won’t convince anyone of any personal opinion if you can’t first convince yourself not to be a hypocrite.
You are a pathetic sjw who has no arguments. Where was I xenophobic even? And are you really this simpleminded? I removed the picture because what I wrote, yet I still think she looks like a feminazi. And I removed it like half an a hour ago, you can see that. But what am I expecting from such a pathetic stupid person... go to era, your kind dwells there.

I dont know if its the worst because i havent played all AC games.
But it does suck. I really tried to like it but after few hours (at level 11) i gave up.
The grinding is just unbearable.

lol jk haven’t played assassins creed in years. I think I was pretty tired of the gameplay by the end of the first one

I heard that pirate ship one was pretty dope though

Black Flag was the first game that wasn't a real AC either. It was a pirate game, shoehorned into the AC formula. I could accept people liking it nevertheless, but I found that also boring and repeitive. All I can remember is tailing. Tailing on foot, tailing on ships. Though I liked the modern day aspect of it.

I played and finished Odyssey and put in well over 100 hours and loved it. Yes it gets really repetitive but for me it was a game I could just get lost in and enjoy. I'm now on Origins and I like this as well but seeing the simpler mechanics and where Odyssey had improved on Origins I still prefer Odyssey overall. I think a lot of people don't like Odyssey simply because it's just more of the same and people can not be bothered investing their time into it.

Some people just want to hear their opinion coming from someone else.

“This was the first game that wasn’t a real entry in the series” is something I would have thought about saying when i was a teenager playing Wind Waker who didn’t understand collaboration, business, budget, or compromise. It’s a franchise that’s been running for over a decade with over a dozen installments. I don’t think this kid’s opinion of what constitutes a “real” entry in a franchise counts for Jacks or Shit. He sure can complain with the best of them, though, I’ll give him that.

Still don't have arguments, eh? You can't point out where I'm wrong, just calling me names. You have no idea how old I am. Yeah, you're the type that doesn't worth anymore time to spend on.

If they didn't care about history then why did they bother showing historical objects in a manner that looks educational?

Its because they know what they are doing. Its not like they had to show you this. They wanted to show you this so they can change it and push their aganda.

To be fair, although historically incorrect this is the approach school books take as well since forever (they did so in the 90ies when i was learning em, they did so earlier as i saw in older books and they do so today as i see with my kids), at least in the early stages of learning ancient languages. The "older" the kids learning the language get the more they get historically correct in terms of depictions and descriptions of everyday life. In the place where i reside in the education is solely up to the provinces and provincial government is conservative, christian left (comparable to rebulicans, tories, etc. there are no real right parties and minded people in general unfortunately, but this not the place for this discussion) so there is no argument to be made about SJWs and other selfproclaimed "progressive" leftists are responsible. I assume in educational terms (even more so when explicitly mentioned, in school it very much depends on the teacher) a more "inclusive" approach seems to be easier to grasp, especially when aiming at a general audience with no or not too much experience on the topic.

Those discovery tours are hit or miss nonetheless and from a conceptual level very interesting in terms of depiction of content relevant for studies.

I understand this "fairytale to make us feel better" approach may work to children. But this game is not for children. So they either think their audience are adults with the IQ of a small child or they are just the usual agenda pushers and virtue signalers. Im going to bet my money on the later.

I really can't find anything to excuse them and i don't see why should anyone bother giving them the benefit of a doubt.

Mate, if you like Odyssey this much why do you think Valhalla looks like shit? It seems better in every sense so far, even if not as polished as it should be.
He probably saw yong yea preview...

To me it looks slightly better than odissey except the protagonist.

Yeah, that video highlights the worst aspects, but even in that, it didn't look worse than Odyssey. However, Jackfrags' video was quite good and restored my hope.
Fortunately, any protagonist can be just better than Alexios for me, so that's a step up for me for sure, though I'm sure they won't be close to Bayek, Connor, Ezio or Altair.

As a massive AC Fan, I agree.

Barely tied into the AC narrative. You played as a Mercenary who never became an Assassin. The combat was way too unbelievable, AC was always grounded in it's own way, but some of the special moves were stupid. Spear instead of a hidden blade? Also messed with lore a LOT.

It was a terrible AC game.

But a fun non AC game. Would not recommend it to anyone though.

Gameplay, animations, facial expressions, acting, etc. But that's first impression, could be better, not sure. AC Odyssey had a wonderful story, finished every freaking part and DLC. Spent around 450-250 hours, I don't remember really. It has its flaws, but overall it was wonderful and a true GOTY contender.

This must be a joke right? Facial Expressions/acting have been terrible for the engine used for the past 3 games Origins/Odyssey/Valhalla.

As for gameplay looking worse. Heavily disagree and that impression could have been formed by watching people who don't play games play it (aka Journalists).

I don't know, everything you listed seems better to me in Valhalla. I guess you liked the setting of Odyssey more.

To begin, I was sort of an Assassin's Creed fan from the beginning in 2007. The first game was simply magical, that huge open world, the uniqueness of the setting and the gameplay, the graphics, the animations, the serious story that touched on philospophical and morality topics simply amazed me. Sure, the repetitiveness of it was criticized by many but it was nothing compared to Odyssey's.

So coming from Origins (which is among my favorites in the franchise, although I don't consider it a true "Assassin" game that either) I had no high hopes for Odyssey, seeing that it was a reskinned Origins, but still I was curious because of the new setting and as I like the franchise. I was getting worried seeing some videos that left me a bad impression regarding the writing but I was not prepared to what the game offers. Got it on day one, played a few hours and it gave a bad impression. I thought I will play it later but everytime I tried I never enjoyed it. Now Valhalla is coming and I decided to play it through to know the story but I'm having a really hard time and I can't wait to finish it.

Writing
I always try to avoid judging someone based on their looks, but look at one of the main writers of this game:

[Picture removed as I only wanted to use it for demonstration purposes and after a night's sleep I realized that it's against my principles to ridicule someone because of their looks, even if I hate what that person represents by their looks. I would like to highlight that it's not because of some posters' comments, (we are incels, etc.), I don't care what some simple-minded folks think about me, but because of my conscience.]

Based on this image you would imagine the worst millennial type writing filled with obnoxious SJW bullshit in your face all the time and you would be so right. Honestly, I don't remember ever complaining about writing in a game, but this is just unbearably horrible. I'm skipping the dialogs as I can't stand them. I have never done this in any game. It has nothing to do with the deep (compared to this) topics of the original AC, it's like a (really) bad millennial TV comedy with some of the worst performances I ever saw. A lot of times there is like no connection in the delivery, the writing, and what you can see animation wise on the screen. I just can't understand how can it be so bad. Everything is trying to be funny and failing so bad I'm cringing all the time. Thanks to this and the lame performances even the scenes intended to be serious are laughable. Also Alexios acts like a typical millennial bitch. I can't say this in any nicer way. It's horrible. The most important thing is to force their SJW bullshit in your face. Some male characters always wanting to fuck Alexios and not once having me forget which hole they like.

Gameplay
Honestly, who designed this game? Did they really think it is enjoyable? You can't even play as a proper Assassin. I go into a fort and can't assassinate captains that are 5 levels below me. Wtf? Of course I'm forced to fight for an infinite amount of time as 10 soldiers start to attack me, who are made of stone and have to chip away their health for minutes, despite being 5 levels lower than me and my gear. Then some fucking mercenaries start to teleport who are even worse with posion and magic spamming and some bears and wolfs, and some fucking chickens. You can't go anywhere and enjoy the scenery for too long, as everyone and everything wants to kill you always. Fucking chickens even, lol. Infinite amount of samey forts, caves, ruins etc. How can this be considered one of the best in the series when it has 100000 times the repetitiveness of the first AC game? Also, there is this boring neverending combat always with the bad animations and you cannot even use a shield as a Spartan(!). Wtf is this again?

Remember the leaks for Origins? It said that Greece was part of that game. It's clear, lots of reused assets, lazy design in every sense. It's like they took the Greece parts out of that game, enlarged the map and made a full game of it filling with boring content. They needed a story and characters and said fuck it, who cares, just vomit and shit something, mix it well then those losers will get it anyway.

Excuse my rant but I'm baffled why so many like this game. I have never wanted something to end this much. You could ask why I'm playing it if I hate it this much. It's only because I still like the franchise and I'm interested in the story and want to know it before Valhalla and I also like to explore as the world still has some beautiful and interesting places despite having a lot of reused assets and lazy design. The graphics has some high points and the music is nice but playing it through is just a slog. Being everything so frustrating I just run into the locations, get the required loot, kill the captain etc. to complete the place and just run away instead of fighting half the world for hours.

TLDR: This is one of the must frustrating games I ever played, with boring, neverending repetitive gameplay with the worst SJW writing I ever saw. I cannot understand how this particular instalment became so popular.

Cant help. It was more enjoying than Horizon Zero Dawn

Kassandra was way better.

Alexios sounded like a third class porn actor from the 80s.

I don't like playing female characters in general, especially if offered the choice, not to mention as a Spartan warrior. It doesn't even fit.

You know what? Fuck it, I'll preorder the Gold Edition of ACV.

Yes, I agree. I wouldn't mind playing as a woman if I could play it through as a real assassin, but it's ridiculous seeing a 50 kg woman slinging around 30 kg weapons against 100 kg dudes. I know that it has fantasy elements anyway but this just gets me out of the historical setting too much.

Edit: it would also help if the certain woman character wasn't written by some SJW who thinks women must behave like men, and that feminine traits are worthless

I liked Aloy's approach, as she's more of a distant fighter. It happens on Hollywood as well, quite silly. Well, Abby makes sense though with steroids. :lollipop_tears_of_joy:

Yeah, Aloy was okay, and Abby was not as bad as I have imagined before playing (at least character-wise, looks are another question...)

This thing happens everywhere since there is a sinister agenda behind it.

I understand this "fairytale to make us feel better" approach may work to children.

tried to edit it in, missed the timelimit so extra post needed.

also the approach is not because of the fairytale, but because its easier to grasp a general feeling of things when you approach them from a familiar perspective. 5th grade (which is where you start learning latin over here) the kids are around 9 to 10 years old and raised in selfproclaimed democracies where all human beings on paper are considered equal, at least its the sermon everybody claims. It´s easier to start learning about slaves and how that worked when you start concentrating on the relationship between family members and slaves, instead of starting right away with historically accurate gender roles and how the relationships between men and women and so on evolved. For me its still too much commie shit focussing on (and wittingly lying about) the we, but its just simple didactics in the end.

The real protagonist of the game imo, since most players chose him - Eivor will probably be mostly male too.

Because the series is taking the RPG elements further with every title, Ubisoft should seriously consider remaking their initial Assassin's Creed titles.

Enough time has passed since the first games to warrant a ground-up remake (not those bad remasters), as close to the original as possible - linear, focused on the Assassin's Creed vs. Templar conflict, Isu lore, historical setting, assassinations (obviously), etc.

Ideally, they would shift the production of the RPG Creed games to have an additional year of development each (3~5 years - impossible by current 3rd party AAA standards) and in 'off years', release the remakes.
This could help rekindle the fanbase of the original titles, and even open up the possibility of going back to this formula, eventually.

I personally can't put enough faith on Ubisoft, they're not Sony. We have Ghost of Tsushima and Sucker Punch to fill that void.

I still think AC Odyssey is the best AC ever created, if you look at it in a singular way, not a sequel. I don't like their new approach, and this should be just another standalone game.

Absolutely, I agree on all points!

Can't shake the feeling that if Odyssey was made with next-gen in mind, it would be regarded as one of the best games in the format - and maybe even the series

The IP has lost its charm to many, lots of drama around it. Odyssey as a standalone without AC slapt to it would've got more gamers on board.
