Nope, in the examples shown they were separated from trophies (btw trophies now show a % of the progress, like the activities).

Maybe if you only record occasionally or just a few basic clips. Otherwise there's still no replacement for something like an Elgato. Plus it might be limited to 4k30. Hopefully there's an option for 1080p60.

Well its better than 720p and not having to drop like 250+for the elgato after getting a ps5 is a good tempary fix.

Great indication that Sony has knocked it out of the park when users of the opposing console are trying to tell us the sort of features that have been Xbox's bread and butter since 360 are now "fluff"

I play on both consoles, dislike social features on both. I never visit the community part of Xbox, and it's easy enough to avoid, especially with moving pins around and such, so now I hardly even know it exists anymore. I have never taken a screenshot. Don't care. Don't need to.

I’m a grown man with no family, but I work quite a bit and also could not give less of a fuck about social features. Never have used them, don’t really understand them. I would agree that turning all those notifications off would be really ideal - don’t need more notifications in my life I have an iPhone and it’s annoying enough as is.

Yeah, that's the thing, all the notifications worry me. Will they be in my face whether I want them to or not? Can I remove them? I got so tired of notifications on everything that I dumped my smart phone in favor of a non smart phone. I like to disconnect from all this stuff. I hope they let me. Both Sony and Microsoft need to understand is that although this stuff is important for a lot of people, it's a massive turn off for others.

On first look, I like it. I like the new features like picture-in-picture, snapping a help video on either side. The cards thing might be a little annoying, to me, I'd like to know what kind of customization we can make to that. Overall I'm liking the way it's looking. It's definitely an evolution of the Playstation 4 UI. But, with all that being said, I will hold my final judgement until I actually get to "experience" this UX.

Functionality is better but there's quite a bit of fluff. Not a lot on the screen at any given time and yet feels cluttered. Though it certainly doesn't help when they're using game images in the background rather than a distinctive default background image/animation.

I was hoping for a more substantial change up and more depth, perhaps with layering. Sony seem married to the same icons and fonts that they've been using for the last 7-14 years; they looked reasonably classy and elegant then, but fall flat to me now.

Given the bold console design I was expecting something more light and airy, less high frequency detail, more depth, something a bit more futuristic and coherent with the hardware. This feels flat, claustrophobic and more of the same.

Not sure if this was pointed out yet but in the beginning of the video when they are looking at the command centre and then goes down once to the quick menu or whatever it's called I noticed when he highlighted the game LBP the icon was labeled as "switcher". I'm assuming this will be where we instantly swap games in and out.

That keeps you in the game. That's what I like the BEST about the new UI. You don't have to leave the game at all to do most things.

We all knew a Digital PS5 was coming though. Like it was super obvious and well known. Most video game media said it'll be $450 at least. But some thought it'll be $500 and the PS5 Proper would be $600.

Over the last three months I went from planning on ignoring PS5 for a good while after it launches, to being excited about getting it day one. Good job Sony.

That user interface looks awesome in many ways from what I've seen so far, so many positives, and there still seems to be a lot more UI to talk about. Beautiful, actually fresh and new, feature rich yet fast, and with a lot of potential to further evolve over the course of the generation.

Of course the real test is when you get to try it yourself.

Really cool stuff. This is what a next-generation UI should feel like.

My one nitpick is that loading into his friends’ Destruction All-Stars match didn’t take him straight to a lobby/matchmaking screen, but seemed to only start the regular game, complete with dumb publisher logos to slowly wade through.

I hope all shortcuts eventually function by taking you directly to that specific thing, as we saw with LBP, and in the patents, likewise regardless of whether you’re currently in the game or not.

Not a fan of that cards-based design, too much scrolling left and right, there's simply too many of them while providing meaningless stuff. Plus sometimes they are on top, sometimes on the bottom, sometimes in the middle, it's a mess very similar to XB1 initial UI with tiles being all over the place. That being said, I don't think many 3rd party developers will actually utilize all those features, meaning there probably will be very few of those cards in games other than Sony's 1st party titles.

Love the ability to stream your friends gameplay in PiP mode tho, CoD Zombies came to mind immediately. Love that initial animated black/golden background as well, reminds me a lot of PS3's XMB which was simply the best, god I wish they brought it back in full 4K HDR glory.


Hopefully there will be another UI walkthrough in the near future, because this one didn't show mych to be honest - still no BC info, still no info if there's a QR-equivalent feature, we saw D:AS loading in around 10-11s but that's it, personally I'd love to also see the games downloads, if they have improved compared to PS3/4 due to PS Store being built into the system, or is it the same garbage and the internet will be flooded with "why my PS5 downloads are so slow??" threads after November... So as usual, Sony gives us just a glimpse, teases us, and then leaves with many unanswered questions. But luckily within a month YT will be filled with user-generated content and nothing will be left unspoken.

What possessed them to de-prioritise the last game you played on the home screen? When people boot up a system, there's a 90% chance the first thing they're going to do is select the last game they played. News? Screenshots? How on earth are they the first two?

And progress being shown on the thumbnails will do my head in. I haven't regularly 100%'ed a game since I was a kid. It's going to mess with my OCD seeing all these incomplete percentages.

I'm disappointed so far. I wanted to see just a faster, snappier version of my PS4 OS.
