Just fix the connectivity to the game man. I play other always online games just fine. fix that and I may be able to finally finish the game. Its not bad, its just mediocre. I dont mind that honestly. I just want to finish the goddamn game Bioware!

Just bury this piece of shit!

If anything, do an Anthem 'Remake'.. Start from the ground up and make it the way it was meant to be like they had shown at E3 but for next gen. Otherwise just give up EA. The game is like $4 brand new at Retailers here in Australia and they still can't sell it.

The gameplay does mostly play what like was shown in the fake E3 footage. Unless you’re talking about downgrades in visuals ... eh could care less about that. The game does indeed look very pretty still but that’s not the issue.

Edit: Wow, it’s actually been a year since a release as it came out in February of last year. The relaunch should’ve happened already. That’s pretty bad. Like how the fuck you gonna get players back almost two years after release if this revamp comes in fall? How? Next gen? And charge full price to existing players? Ridiculous

it will require a more substantial reinvention than an update or expansion.

we will be focusing on a longer-term redesign of the experience

we’ll be doing something we’d like to have done more of the first time around – giving a focused team the time to test and iterate, focusing on gameplay first.

So EA greenlit a sequel? I'm a little surprised actually.

Sounds more like a reboot and relaunch ala FF14.

EA clearly wants their own Destiny/Division monetized looter shooter. Cheaper to reboot Anthem than start from scratch with a new game and/or studio. A lot of people like the combat and traversal and it looks as sounds pretty nice so they can use the visual and sound assets and just spend time on the narrative, loot and end game content.

Still a huge and costly endeavor to actually get it right. But cheaper than starting anew if EA is set in having this type of game in their library b

Give me a 15-20hr, proper SINGLE player campaign, and I'll re-install it, until then you can fuck off with this quasi single player, multi-player co-op bullshit.

Don't expect Anthem 2.0 anytime soon

In its first update on the state of Anthem in three months, BioWare says the game’s overhaul is “going to be a longer process.”

“The Anthem incubation team has kicked off and we are starting to validate our design hypotheses,” wrote BioWare Austin studio director, Christian Dailey. “Incubation is a term we use internally—it essentially means we are going back and experimenting/prototyping to improve on the areas where we believe we fell short and to leverage everything that you love currently about Anthem.”

Dailey went on to confirm that approximately 30 people are currently working on Anthem as part of this incubation team and that it’s going to take some time. “And yes, the team is small but the whole point of this is to take our time and go back to the drawing board,” he wrote. “And a small team gives us the agility a larger one can’t afford.”

Character customization was a shitshow when I played the game. Lack of variety of different faces and options. The forced first-person view in the hub was also inconsistent with the third-person perspective. I played this for an hour and then out it down. I'm already playing Marvel Avengers, and when Marvel Avengers gets any better, would I go back to Anthem? Probably not.

I am surprised they are even bothering to update it at this point. I paid $8 for it on sale and it was really just sad to play what is now a Bioware game. They have lost their way.

I got it for free with my 2080 purchase....and still felt like I'd been ripped off!

The bad stigma surrounding this game is similar to No man's sky. Though what is completely different is that in 2 years NMS delivered a bunch of free updates that changed the game completely, and Anthem is almost two years old with an overhaul update nowhere in sight. And even an overhaul, the game will receive a lot more updates in the future to be feature complete. Sometimes you just have to let it go.

I liked the alpha/beta version of the Anthem but never bought it due to all the bad news.

Next Gen release with most of the complaints addressed, at a low price or free, I'm in day one!

I remember loving the game in the beta. Held off the full game because of money going elsewhere and I'm so glad I did because all the real issues came out during it's life cycle.

I will be one of those eager to jump back in with this 2.0 update. The combat/flight/core mechanics were a good set of building blocks.

When people say GAAS is dead or looter shooters are doomed to fail its just ridiculous. It's hard to do clearly, but if a game releases and its good and has a worth amount of content with a good roadmap, it will sell well and it will last for a long time. Unfortunately most of the time, these games come out buggy, unfinished, and bereft of content. This wouldn't be acceptable for a single player game so why this has become the norm for looter shooters is beyond me. It's the publishers sending these games out to die.

If the game is good, people will definitely go back. FFXIV and No Man's Sky say hi.

Doubtful. Both those games didn’t have a complete drop-off of ALL its players one month post launch. And neither of those two had players wait MORE THAN 2 YEARS for a content drop.

Anthem coming back is kinda impossible but ... it looks like they’re gonna try in some form.

I still expect it to be a full priced relaunch and remake of sorts for next gen tho.

Honestly I 100% understand and agree with all the hate and lack of faith the gaming community in general has towards Bioware right now. It is well deserved after what happened with Andromeda and the crap shoot that was Anthem. I think a large part of it has to do with EA mucky mucks forcing Bioware to rush product to the table in terms of Anthem and a complete break down of leadership and vision as well as changing engines mid dev for Andromeda...... On the other hand I am a huge sucker for a great comeback story and it seems Bioware might be having its FF14 moment. Let me explain....

In this day in age it is so easy for these mega publishers and corpo overloards to just force a studio to nix a project or hell even a well established series because of one bad entry..... Prime example see Amazons recent announcement of giving up 100% on Crucible. For a series abandonment see EA's own Sim City.... I still think they are bat shit crazy for that (A new modern Sim City would be amaze balls). Hell just look at EA's track record for gobbling up entire well established studio's only to shut them down after 1 or 2 middling or bad entries..... Bioware is.... different. Different in the way that in some aspects Bioware is in it's own right a Blizzard(Of Old) of the gaming community. Their RPG's were the gold standard of what western rpg's should be across the board... flat out. But with the EA buyout and EA's meddling and rushing over the past years and all around bad choices not just in Bioware but in nearly all of it's Studios EA became the laughing stock of the Gaming World. I think over time they have gotten that point from the massive outcry from the community to the half baked products they have pushed out. For a major studio and publisher to honestly fess up and go "We released a shit product and we are ashamed and we are committed to fixing this so we are going to stop all current dev and remake the game" I can only think of one other studio doing that to that extent and scale... Now look at FF14! Not to mention they also brought back Casey and they have pretty much taken the Rockstar approach to game dev. Look at how long Dragon Age 4 has been in full blown dev. Instead of rushing out information like they have done they are locked down releasing teasers hardly showing anything after years and years of dev. They have also been doing the same for Anthem 2.0. Personally I think this is the right approach to just go back to the days of old, buckle down make a game without setting expectations and "It's done when it's done".

Perhaps this is wishful thinking but I want/choose to believe that the Bioware that we once knew and loved will be back in a big way.

The flight and combat was ok (not great) the most fun thing was the detonators\primers ability mechanic.

Can you name an objectively good game that people just refused to play? I don't care how long it takes, if the game comes back out and it's good people will play. Games fail more often than not because they just aren't very good. There might be a case for some indie games that just don't have any marketing so no one knows about them, but a AAA game isn't going to fail if it's a good game.

i look forward to seeing what they do, since i really loved the gameplay, better ironman than avengers

but man when are we expecting this new update? is taking ages, surely may aswell just make it a sequel (unless its a free update, which would be nice but would make no financial sense)

I doubt they will charge for the update, its going to be hard enough getting players back even if it was free.
The rumour was that EA wanted this to be a new fanchise for them, so i'm betting the update will be free, and probably decent, and they will push for a sequel.

Sounds like a reboot to me. I've put hundreds of hours into this game and paid full price. They better not charge me again.

Look... They had pedigree, once. It's one game in a bushel of similar titles. We can play other games while they tilt at the windmill one more time. Good luck and godspeed and, I'll be playing Persona and, like, anything else that might grab my attention.

Everyone of these fucking gaas games are steaming dog shit on release, you need to give them 2-3 years then have a look.

I bet many of the people with such a negative opinion on the game have never even played it or at least played it for longer than 4/5 hrs. its a decent game with potential.

People with interest in Gaas games like anthem and avengers should save money and just play warframe. i wasted money on avengers (massive Comic book fan) and also anthem...
