Today, Aaron Greenberg, General Manager of Games Marketing at Xbox, shared different stats from the studios year so far, and also states that gameplay footage for Xbox Series X and S games will be shared later this month.
Confirmed in the Xbox Wire blog post yesterday too.

Among these stats is the fact that Xbox Game Studios will have released 15 games this year so far once Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition launches on October 15.
Of these many games released, Ori and the Will of the Wisps and Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 stand out as critically-acclaimed, with Metacritic averages of 90 and 92 respectively. 1.66 billion hours of Xbox Game Studios titles were played so far this year, with players logging over 26 million flights in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020.
Greenberg also noted how new survival game Grounded crossed a million players, while Sea of Thieves has crossed over 15 million players.

I'm curious what games they will show? I hope its something first party

An updated Halo Infinite build?

No I'm not making a joke here. There was that rumor of an updated build circling around. Then I'm guessing games like Assassin's Creed Valhalla and FarCry 6 might be shown on the X.

They definitely need to show something with Ray Tracing in it.

Several more Xbox Game Studios titles are on the way, such as Halo Infinite in 2021, as well as As Dusk Falls, Avowed, Everwild, Fable, Forza Motorsport, Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2 and State of Decay 3. Even more games yet to be announced are on the way with Microsoft acquiring ZeniMax and the addition of Bethesda Softworks to the Xbox family.

Interestingly, Greenberg also shared that more details on Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S Optimized games are coming later this month, alongside gameplay footage for the titles, so we'll be sure to be on the lookout for these updates. The Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S are scheduled to arrive on November 10.

That would be a pretty good line up for the first year, especially if there is more we don't know about.

if they have something that looks better, then why not.

I personally don’t care about seeing it but for the sake of their “image” they’d best show something good, given the reaction they got to the third party showing from however long ago. Get it within spitting distance of DS or Ratchet and then let the forum warriors debate it.

That's not going to be the first year. That says Halo is 2021, but the rest are just "on the way". Forza etc will not be 2021.

Forza better be releasing in 2021, most thought it’d be a launch title. It’s been 3 years since Turn10 released 7, no way it’ll be more than 4 for them to get the next out.

It’s not coming to XB1, so it’s 2022 at the earliest. From what we’ve heard it’s a complete overhaul/rewrite from the “ground up” for next gen. People wanted them to have longer between games and now they’ve got that.

Forza 7 released in october of 2017. 4 years is plenty of time. Not to mention there is a reason they released a teaser trailer as its meant to be fairly soon. IMO in 2021 is a good time.

You don't know that.
Well they said that all first party games for 2 years would be on XB1 as well, yet they were announced as Series X exclusives, and their trailers featured literally zero in-game footage, so it's a pretty safe bet. Of course I don't know with 100% certainty, but everything points to then being 2022.

Yet Turn 10 said they hadn't even started working on the next Forza in July 2018:

I just want to reiterate this message. I know other people have said this before. But the entire team, 100%, the entire Forza Motorsport team right now, is working on Forza Motorsport 7. What that means is we’re not going off making Forza Motorsport 8, we’re actually not going off and making a grand new expansion.

A teaser trailer generally comes 2+ years out from release, not within 12 months.

I'll stick with "you don't know that". What makes you think they couldn't have a version that runs on older hardware ( even farmed out ot a different studio like they did in the past)? Or even still, there is no rule that says every game will support that guideline. MS also said all their games would be on gamepass, but forza 7 is only arriving now (strange huh?). They also said all their games would be on PC, but Halo 5 is yet to ship on PC (Strange huh?).

MS is making the rules but they can also break or ignore them if they choose.

Yet Turn 10 said they hadn't even started working on the next Forza in July 2018:
At least officially it sounds like it. Right. So lets say for example they didn't start until october 2018? That is still three years.

Historically the forza team has never taken longer then 2 years to release a new game:

I'd bet on 2021 as that is the longest there has been since a motosport game, and it also a reboot of the franchise.

A teaser trailer generally comes 2+ years out from release, not within 12 months.
There is no truth in that. A teaser is simply a short first look, but there is no time limit attached.

Forza 7 released before their "all first party games will be on game pass", that's why it's not there.

Halo 5 released before their "All first party games will be on PC", so again, that's why it's not there.

3 years for a fully built from the ground up next gen engine + game? sounds about right. That's not a long time. I know that forza games have come out every 2 years before that, but games are taking longer and longer to make now.

Like I said, and like you keep pointing out, of course I don't know 100% it won't come out in 2021 - but likewise you literally have zero idea if it will come out in 2021. It hasn't been said to be 2021 anywhere. Don't you think that's maybe an indication that it won't be?

A teaser trailer with zero gameplay usually means the game is a lot longer than 12 months away. Of course there is no time limit attached, but use your brain for one second rather than trying to go "HAHA GOTCHA!" to a random internet person.

This logic doesn't make jive. there are games on gamepass that released before forza 7. Masterchief collection & halo 5 both released before Forza 7, and they are on gamepass.

Halo 5 released before their "All first party games will be on PC", so again, that's why it's not there.
The master chief collection is now on PC and it also released before the all first party games on PC mandate (Also it released before Halo 5). As i mentioned the logic doesn't jive. I'm pretty certain MS looks at it on a case by case basis.

3 years for a fully built from the ground up next gen engine + game? sounds about right. That's not a long time. I know that forza games have come out every 2 years before that, but games are taking longer and longer to make now.
Sometimes they are taking longer. it really depends on the team involved. The forza team has been amazing at delivering on a solid cadence, so i would suspect if anyone could do it, its them. Also, I'm pretty sure the forza tech engine team isn't following the same release cadence as the games.

Like I said, and like you keep pointing out, of course I don't know 100% it won't come out in 2021 - but likewise you literally have zero idea if it will come out in 2021. It hasn't been said to be 2021 anywhere. Don't you think that's maybe an indication that it won't be?
True i don't know, but at the same time, I'm saying 2021 is possible (not claiming it as fact, based on past turn 10 history) and you are arguing it's not possible ( based on what again? It seemed like you stated it as a fact.)? Perhaps you are not arguing that now, not sure.

I don't think MS not specifically saying the year, means anything at this point. I think the bigger indicator is MS has been burned in the past for showing anything more than 2 years out. So they rarely do that now. Based on past history, it says more about that studio and what they are capable of.

A teaser trailer with zero gameplay usually means the game is a lot longer than 12 months away. Of course there is no time limit attached, but use your brain for one second rather than trying to go "HAHA GOTCHA!" to a random internet person.
Use my brain?

- There are no rules for how a teaser should be used
- MS doesn't show games more then 2 years out typically
- Turn 10 has never taken longer than 2 years for any release
- MS showed the teaser this year
- it would been 3 years in development if you use my example (could be 3.5 years)
- Some of the past forza titles released a teaser roughly 1 year out (to avoid clashing with horizon)

I think I used my brain lots, thanks tho. Certainly more than "HAHAH gotcha" as you mention.

Going to be an awesome month then, finally those who'd been asking for the series X gameplay will get to see it. Lets go!

Um... This number is very low. But I guess they thought throwing numbers in the billions would make people go WAAAOW and no one will check.

Let's do some math. Let's say there are 50 million Xbox consoles. I'm not including PC btw, so let's just assume all Xbox consoles were used instead.
1,660,000,000 (hours) / 50,000,000 (Xbox consoles) = 33.2 hours per console.

"So far this year". So let's count 9 full months. Jan - Sep.

33.2 (hours per console) / 9 (months) = 3.68 hours per month.

Let's be generous and round that number to 4 hours. That's 4 hours per month. Xbox players are playing Xbox first party titles only 4 hours per month. Not per day. Not per week. Per month. Just about an hour a week. About 8 minutes a day! That's measly! :messenger_hushed:

Is it? I have no reference point, but I think that is pretty okay. You need to keep in mind that a lot of people don't play every single day. If we say that, on average, only 1 in 3 consoles are turned on per day, the number rises to 24 minutes per day. Only for first party titles. Isn't that pretty good?

Unfortunately the article does not say they will show next gen games running on XsX. It is referring to showing current gen enhanced games running on XsX.

Looks like people will need to wait until release to see how those next gen games run on XsX. Seems a strange strategy, not sure why this is the case.

Is it a crime to be excited as an Xbox fan? Go cry elsewhere if you’re not happy.
It's not a crime of course but there has been, what, 1 video shown running off Series S and that was Dirt 5 at 120FPS.

The rest of it has been running off PC. We are a month out from console launch and we have yet to see any games running on actual Xbox consoles.

That should be concerning to anyone how they have not shown anything running off a Series X or S from MS Studios.

It's not good for prospective customers who are interested in Xbox. Those who are on the fence have to wait a bit longer to see what they might be buying.
Mind you PlayStation is in the shithouse as well. We have yet to see any UI walkthroughs or console teardowns.

Time to see what 12TFs is capable of. I was right that we would see some footage soon.

you won’t see that at launch though. Won’t see it from ps5 either. Don’t you know how it works? Is this your first console launch maybe?
Usually it takes a couple of years to get the power of the consoles. Especially launch games look way worse.
It has always been like that.
Just compare the last of us II to a launch game of PS4.
