Panzer Dragoon Remake |OT| It's alive and it's panzer-ing

Just had a quick go on PC, m&kb makes it an absolute breeze. I'm never touching the switch version again.

Hopefully we'll get the sequels now and ffs, no delays.

Are the textures enhanced or it's just a better resolution, framerate ?

VSync issues on PC:
The game has been patched.

But to be honest, if you have a xbox don't be disapointed for the delay because you have Orta which is twice better, twice cheaper.
Thanks for reminding me about just how other wordly that game is. I haven't played Zwei or Saga, do they have the same feel?

Holy shit, that Panzer Dragoon Orta footage is gorgeous. Still have the original disc lying around, just no Xbox One X :(

I did just get Remake for Switch using my free Nintendo bucks though. Curous how it holds up!

This looks amazing. Wow. Wasn't really sold on the visuals when the Switch version came out, but this is the real deal. Need to grab this one from GOG.

The game plays just fine after patches. Looking forward to Zwei, which is really the golden boy of the franchise. For the XB1X owners, I also can't recommend the 4k-upscaled Panzer Dragoon Orta, which is part of Microsoft's BC program. First game I bought when I got my 1X lol

Okay, so I just played and finished the game on Switch. Game plays fine, controls fine in classic mode and looks decent enough. I had only played Orta until now so I'm glad to have experienced the first game now.

Though I have to admit, while I can understand it was a very impressive game in the mid 90's, it isn't a particularly great game today. Orta truly is better in every single way. Better level design, much more variety. Looking forward to Zwei to see what that game brings to the table!

Bought it and played it on Switch. Was okay overall, but I did not like the colors. Looking forward for Zwei, but they really need to make better color choices.

How will we play HotD without a light gun? Or are they planning a hardware pack in or what? I'll have to look that up.
At least on Switch you have the pointer option with the joycon. Otherwise, you can play House of the Dead with an analog stick. Works perfectly well, and is still great fun.

They fucked around with the game's intro way too much. The scream of the dragon when the original rider dies always made my hair stand up on end, and they took that out and put in a totally pathetic replacement for it. That alone kinda ruins the remake for me. And the whole game looks a bit meh now. I prefer the original.

Yes, it was confirmed, as well as House of the Dead 1 & 2.

Zwei is one of my favorite games ever. Saturn was blessed with creativity, SEGA output was godlike.

Wow, I didn't knew that. It's great news indeed.

If only someone could remake Shinning Force 3...

Realized this was on the PS Store and gave it a shot on PS5.

Its brilliant. I put on the Pulse for maximum immersion.

I like it better than the OG version which I also played a shit ton. 60fps, good graphics that aim for the original boxart. Modern controls are good, I eventually stuck with it. Beat the game earlier, loved every second of it. Soundtrack is absolutely killer and the remix is on there too. But the original sounds so good still, that I thought it was remastered or something. PD has one of the best OSTs in gaming, fact..

Should I buy Orta for the Series S? The answer is probably yes.

Yeah I know. its only 10 euros as well. if NG2 is anything to go by, Orta's probably very good on Series S as well.

I did play Orta on OG Xbox, its probably the most impressive looking game on that entire system. Looked better than some early 360 games. I loved how they implemented the dash and certain things from Saga. PC port of the original was included as well. Excellent.

Spot on (albeit I prefer the classic controls lol). One other thing I really really liked was the arcade like continue system where, based on how you played in a particular level you just completed, you would get 1 or more extra lives. Clever :).

I would prefer classic if they updated it. To me it seems its still digital aiming. Its sluggish but the original was so too. Its Zwei that played like a dream compared to the first one.

We are lucky that Orta is on the backward compaitbilty list otherwise it would have remained on the OG Xbox.....but they are taking their time in just releasing it all in one total HD package...

Orta is amazing, a total no-brainer for anyone with an Xbox.

I've been playing through the original Panzer Dragoon this Christmas/New Year period (via the Orta unlockable), and it's still a really good game. I actually tried it for the first time a few years back, but that was directly after completing Orta. I don't think that's a good idea, as playing the 20 fps original directly after the 60 fps Orta feels a little rough. I sold that OG Xbox copy and bought the Xbox Live version last month (was happy to give them the money, after all they don't earn anything from a 2nd hand sale). I deliberately left the game playing by itself for 5 hours so that I could unlock the original Panzer, and that was a wise move, as I'm really enjoying it this time around.

I want to play this one, but need to get a new PC, which is pretty impossible right now. Glad everyone else seems to be enjoying it. Looking forward to how Zwei turns out.

Isn’t this version available for XSX/Xbox One, PS4/PS5, and Switch?

The Remake is available on all platforms now, but Orta (the 4th game in the series and original released on the OG Xbox) is only available on Xbox via BC. The original Saturn version of Panzer is available as an unlockable in Orta. It's a shame that that couldn't include it as an unlockable in the Remake. That probably means the Zwei Remake won't include the original Zwei as an unlockable either, which is a shame, as that one has never been ported anywhere else.

I got Orta again and its a muuuuch better game than PD Remake. Its also 2.5 times cheaper. Its not entirely fair though, Orta was essentially the 4th game. Remake is pretty much a faithful remake of the Saturn version, nothing was added. Which is also good.

But Orta is great. I struggled and then I hit the tutorial. I forgot about the different styles, the use of the boost and brake and that rapid fire special replenishes health. The controls are much more responsive (original and remake really are sluggish), game felt better from the get go. Didn't age one bit.

The original Panzer was a very innovative game for the time, to be fair. The devs must have been thinking "What can we add to the formula after Space Harrier, Afterburner, Starfox etc?", and them adding the 360 view really added a new dimension to the gamp[ley. Orta has so much more though. When playing the original game I kept finding myself trying to boost or do a super attack, before realising that I couldn't :messenger_tears_of_joy:

Zwei added the super and branching paths and had a neat level up system.

I wonder how the remake will pan out. The strength of Zwei at the time was that it was so advanced. It even had fricking widescreen support. I think its technically the most impressive 32-bit game. There are some Saturn games that manage to trounce the PS1 on a technical level and Zwei is one of them.

I had a great time with the first remake. Hope they do even better with Zwei, it's my favorite in the series. I'm just happy that this series (one of my all time favorites) is still being talked about in 2021.

Yeah but not only talked, it's also selling well on the Xbox thanks to the BC.

I still can't believe my eyes how beautiful it is 20 years later...

I honestly had zero idea this was available through xbox store. I have an old OG Xbox One sitting in my closet gathering dust. This might be enough to make me dig it out....

Is this playable on the old Xbox One, or only on series s/x?

Xbox one is ok, even the 360...

I guess it's 1080p on the fat One.
Anyone confirm ?

And oh it's only 10 bucks, bitch.

It would be awesome to have the original trilogy and Orta all on the Xbox Series S|X one day.

GAF memes aside if MS did acquire Sega (or have some sort of deal with them regarding their back catalogue) it would make me buy a Series X. PD is an awesome series and I'd love the option to play the originals and the remakes.

A big emulation between Microsoft and Sega would be awesome: Redmond dealing with the emulation part (they are good at it) from 1960 to 2020 (Arcade, SG1000, SMS, MD, Saturn, DC) and Sega receiving a check and money from the sales of each title. (Xbox, PC, Xcloud/Everywhere)

Started a new playthrough of Saga on my Saturn today. I really, really, really hope Forever Entertainment eventually gets to remake it.

Soundtrack literally gives me goosebumps.
