I know for a fact GameStop’s employees pre order all the consoles before customers get a chance.
My GameStop had only 1 PS5 for pre order upon opening on the 17th. That Camelot guy is right. They pre order multiple consoles too.

I have a bundle or preordered at Antonline. Everyone slams antonline and says they’re scammers and all this. But it would be hilarious if mine came in the mail before everyones amazon, Best Buy, GameStop, and target orders.

I'm not nearly as hyped about a preorder tomorrow as I should be, I kinda made peace with the fact I wouldn't get one and instead would keep upgrading away at the PC. I think I just really need to watch that last Rachet & Clank vid. Also If you didn't get a email from Sony I would be pissy too! I miss the days of no preorders and camping out all night.

If it's completely random then that's fair but I'm guessing it's based on your gaming and log in history. I haven't used my PS4 in months since getting a new cpu & gpu and I would assume that I got an invite to retain me as a customer, just a wild guess really!

It's absolutely random. I game on the PS4 Pro and the Vita 2-4 hours daily/ 7 days a week since 2010. Every year I get about 25 platinum on average, and so far this year I've gotten about 30 platinums. Still no invite for me.

Not sure about that. My gamer score is 20, log in every day to play, and have a pretty vast library of games. I have Zero plats though so maybe they were rewarding those with the PHAT PLATZ?

That's kinda what I'm saying, Your a loyal customer and will get one no matter what but I haven't played or logged in in months and got an invite so it's random or based on some customer retention plan because I am not worthy of being rewarded. I have yet to get a single platnium and maybe only spent $100 a year on PSN.

I bought a PS4 on launch, bought almost every game I ever had on it, digitally and subscribed to PS+ from 2013 to 2018, the last game I got was RRD2. Never bought a thing after that, PS+ expired, and sold my PS4 in January.

No invite.

I'm outside of gamestop now and there's one person ahead of me. I originally arrived first, but left for 5 min to get food. The PS5 sign on the door says there are 7 disc and 0 digital available for pre-order. If I can survive here until 12pm tomorrow, I have my PS5 secured. 12 hours to go.

i secured my ps5 in the first walmart raid. the only console I admit to ever waiting on line for was the midnight release of the snes classic at walmart. I waited 4 hours in the electronics dept. But these guys doing it for 24 hours or sometimes more I could never do.

I remember the ps2 launch.. the tents for DAYS at best buys everywhere. Even the PS3 had 24 hour+ lines. So weird to think back upon it all now.

Nothing's wrong with Antonline except their return process which I'm 99% sure is because they're kind of a place where people buy discounted stuff and not expecting a return and even then it's more of their slow process than any actual "scamming" per se. Also, that being said their pre-order page specifically aid they won't ship items until the day of so expect that. I don't really even mind because in all honesty I'm taking the week of thanksgiving off like I do every year and I'll dig into it deep there.

I'm a stan not gonna lie but when I saw my friend who only buys COD, PS+ and GTA online and only a handful of games that are mostly sports I have to honestly saw it's random and shouldn't be taken seriously because I can guarantee they didn't bother with anything more than a script to pick "winners"

Don't let anyone in front of you hold spots for buddies... if 4 guys walk up and get in line with dude in front.. make sure everyone in line knows what's up.. then attack.

GS employees scalped PS4s back at its launch too. It was the final nail in the coffin for my relationship with that company. No bueno.

2:50am and still going strong. The first guy supposedly went home for a while. Next, a trio of dudes showed up and have been waiting ever since then. We're all just waiting in our cars for now. I was talking to one of them and he told me all of the gamestops they had been too were packed with people. I definitely picked the right gamestop, feels good knowing I have this in the bag.

I live in Japan and you could only pre-order at Amazon and another big online store. I tried Amazon (refresh the page) one week ago when pre-orders went live but it was a complete disaster. First the system was not working correctly and neither my PC nor my smartphone was able to find the PS5 page, after I found it I got some errors and finally I was able to get one order through. However, afterwards I recognized that Amazon was already sold out at that time and Amazon automatically changed to a reseller, who was selling the PS5 for around 3000 USD. The order page was also updated with the information that you cannot cancel once ordered, but of course without me knowing, since I was just reloading and didn't had the time to check everything.

I tried to also contact Amazon about this obvious scam and later that day the order was luckily cancelled and I even read in the news later that day, that the same thing happened to many people and Amazon intervened and apologized for this.

All other shops are doing a lottery based system, which is popular here in Japan (which I think is fair unless you have a bot). So you need to apply within a certain period and can only do this for one unit. And if you are lucky you will be notified later.

I think a problem is that it is probably harder in Japan to get a PS5 even compared to the USA, because the console market is much smaller here, because most people play on the commute to work and therefore probably Sony is distributing smaller numbers here. And the second reason is that most console gamers want a PS5, because they will rather die before buying an American product over a similar Japanese product. Its not a racist thing, but they rather want to support a Japanese company if they have the choice, therefore Microsoft will always be here only a minor player.

This is ridiculous. There is like 15 people outside the gamestop at near my parents house. It's 7 AM. At least i got an Xbox Series X preorder in so i am going to get at least 1 next gen console on release day.
