Game Pass Ultimate $1 Upgrade Process! (EA Play & Bethesda games coming soon)

Looking at websites it seems like that phenomenal Xbox Game Pass Ultimate (GPU) upgrade for $1 is still on. For you gamers on the fence, never did it, or are thinking about doing it, it's an awesome deal. Funny thing is when it was announced last summer, people thought it was a glitch. It's no glitch. MS meant to do this the whole time.

- Tons of games
- First party Microsoft games
- EA Access (EA Play) games coming soon
- MS just bought Bethesda, so these games will come soon too
- It also works with Home Sharing, so just one of you two have to do it
- GPU also includes PC Game Pass
- GPU also includes xcloud streaming
- If there's a game you want to buy since it came off GP, it'll be on discount (I think 20% off?)

Here's the process. I'm going to assume it's still on, but every once in a while you hear people say it doesn't, so don't blame me. Maybe MS sets it regional? Also, if you;ve already done a GP sub before, MS doesn't allow you to double dip on this deal. It seems to be a first time GP subber deal only.

- The $1 + tax upgrade is literally $1. Not $1/month
- You can apply this to a max of 3 years of Gold membership
- To max out the deal, have your Gold membership active for the next 3 years and apply
- Make sure to buy the Gold membership and apply that first, then buy and activate the $1 deal
- DO NOT activate the $1 GPU deal and then add Gold to it. MS won't let you retroactively have the GPU deal apply to new Gold sub extensions

For example, here's what I did last year.

- Summer 2019
- Had 2 months left on my Gold membership
- Bought 3 more years and applied, so my Gold membership goes to summer 2022 (I think July 2022)
- Activate the $1 deal
- Get charged $1 + tax ($1.13 total)
- Profile membership now says I'm a GPU subber till summer 2022
- I do Home Sharing with a buddy, so I was the one who did all the legwork, where he tagged along. We'll split costs another time as we buy games not on GP
- When it gets closer to ending in 2022, I'll decide whether to keep it going at regular price or cancel

When I first read about this deal, my dumbass actually thought it’s a $1 for the whole process, for 3 years of GPU (didn’t realize you still need to buy 3 years of Xbox Live Gold separately, to maximum the deal). Speaking of which, are there still online retailers selling Xbox Live Gold cards at a discount?

That's when you unsubscribe and start subbing a month by month basis or buy games outright.

That’s my point, Gamepass isn’t going to be 10/15 dollars forever it’s already seen a real price increase last year before all these acquisitions. I fully expect it to be 30 dollars or more in a couple years, quote me on that.

Just doing some quick math if Gamepass had everyone on the 10 dollar plan it would take 15 million people to stay subscribed to their service for an entire 5 year console cycle to make their money back on the Zenimax purchase (9 billion is the number I got). They didn’t blatantly say “Future games will be on a case by case basis for multi platform releases” for nothing.

It’s gonna be hilarious when game pass ends up costing as much as a cable bill to pay for all this shit lol
Well then you could unsubscribe and buy the game. It would be different if it were the sole way to play the content. For what it is now and in not some hypothetical future, it's pretty awesome.

I'm good for at least 3 months because I wanted to try and finish Wasteland 3 but if more games show up that are must tries for me then I'll go for more.

I'm not sure I want to commit more than that and then convert if I'm not sure what's coming.

And yet people tell me how M$ is so smart making 15 bucks a month of GP and yet everybody and their kid just does this...

I would love to see how many people here would LOVE GP if they were actually paying it's actual cost per month. Just saying
Who knows.

In the US, Ultimate is $15/mth ($180) and includes Gold, and Regular is $10/mth ($120).

Gold is $60 anyway, so for anyone who already does Gold, a GP sub is really $120.

GPU now includes EA Access which is another $30/yr so a Gold member who does EA is already at $90/yr. So for them, GPU at reg price is $90 more which is literally the cost of 1.5 games.

VERY few people actually do this. I just made every single person in line at Gamestop aware of it. They had no idea you could buy 3 years and upgrade it all. Either way, 3 years of Gold isn't free so MS is making a lot of money...

Important Information.

To fully maximize the offer, you can only load up 2 years and 11 months on your account before adding the $1/month deal, which takes your account to a full 3 years of pre-paid Gold/GamePass Ultimate.

You can also only load up your account for a max of 3 years. So don't do the mistake is did when I purchased two 2 year subscriptions from Costco at a great deal, but now I am unable to use the other 2 year card(also if anyone is interested in it PM me) so now I am waiting for a decent deal for a 1 year card for my main account to fully max my subscription.

To be fair, EA Access should be free. A 10 hour demo of each new sports game and a bunch of old games that nobody wants (Or could buy on M$/Sony/Steam sales for $5)

Your not including the money they make off of dlc. It has to be a pretty significant amount. In addition to the extra game sales it brings in as reported by devs of various games.

To be a fly in the Game Pass data set. I'd love to know more about % of $1 upgrades, % of game purchases from Game Pass titles, DLC purchases, etc.

Why?

so you can downplay Xbox gamers getting a ton of games for $1 by saying MS head office looks like they are losing money so that $40 billion/yr profit drops to $39.9 billion?

MS just spent $7.5 billion on Zenimax. You know MS doesn’t give a shit about financials for Xbox so why not just enjoy probably the only game company in the whole industry giving gamers a good deal?

Why is the narrative that gamepass costs a $1? Everyone forget that you first need a paid gold subscription? You think it's the $$$ that matter or the subscription numbers?

You all bumping up their sub numbers lol

I have a Gamepass sub out of curiosity. I got it like a month ago for my Android phone and i still can't use Xcloud here in NZ so my sub is just sitting idle.

Fucking sucks cause i wanted to try the service.

EDIT: What app does one download to play games on your mobile phone? Is it Gamepass App or Xbox Game Streaming ?
Nevermind. Gamepass App in NZ does not have the Cloud version available. FARK

So hold up, if I sign up for the ultimate for $1... I can add 3 years for 1 dollar on top of this? I don't quite get how to do that.

Yup. And GPU requires Gold anyway for any $1 top ups.

they are going to get lots of offline gamers joining up for $60/yr gold.

They have spent their entire existence fighting people not paying for individual licensing rights. All the sudden they are HBO?
One logon per subscription is end their game.

No, I meant no device needed for Game Pass.

I like data. Fuck off with your console warring banality. Please and thank you.

Need to have 3 years of Gold membership first, then apply the $1 thing.

you can have less Gold though. You don’t have to max it out. If you have 1 year of Gold membership and apply it, your $1 gets you GPU for only 1 year and there’s no turning back.

In what world should a bunch of games be free? Then you go to contradict yourself, why aren't all of those games free on $ony/MS/Steam?

Sorry, was making a bad joke about the quality of the crap on EA Access should be free, cause it's bad.

EA Access adds games after about 8-12 months, has new game trials and discounts.

So he wants to be a gamer who gets to play all these EA games instead of paying $30/yr.

So I guess it won't be worth for someone like me whom is a PC gamer then?

You can have the maximum of 36 months of gold that coverts to game pass ultimate. So its best adviced to buy 36 months and then convert with the $1 to change all that Xbox Live Gold into Game Pass Ultimate. Which gives you Game Pass on PC, which would be 3 years of Game Pass Ultimate for the price of the 3 Years of Xbox Live Gold. Def worth it for Game Pass on PC.

Ultimate gets you access to PC Game Pass, no? If you want a 3-year commitment it would still be the cheapest route to accomplish that. You'd just need to have an account that hasn't had Game Pass or sign up for a new one.

This is from some thread i saw earlier but cant recall which. Its only one dev but i did find it interesting that it didnt only increase dlc but increased actual games sales.

Hopefully this repeats for smaller developers and we have another successful marketing platform like the early days of XBLA or how Sony used PSN during the first half of the PS4 life cycle to push Indies. While the Game Pass catalog is large, it's not so large that titles can get lost in it like we now see in the "new release" sections on every other platform.

i've already done £1 deal with my account (now lapsed) and my partner's (active, but paying regular price).

Can I just make a new MS account, apply it to that account, and then share GP access to each account on the machine, playing games as the two main accounts?

I know you could game share that Game Pass with at least one account, no idea about daisy chaining it through multiple accounts.
