Game looks great, and the wirebug mechanic looks way more fun to use than the clutch claw. All I am hoping right now is that they adjust the monster behavior so I dont have to spend half the quest running around the map chasing after the monster.

Game is looking pretty solid I just hope they can clean up the framerate/frame pacing, it's pretty distracting and I'm assuming it will likely be worse in handheld mode.

I paid good money for this Dynex!
I love the character models in Rise waaaay more than MHW.

The limited tech actually forces Capcom to make great looking character models instead of the whole realistic faces they were going for with their recent games.

Totally agree. Both this and Stories 2 just have a much more interesting look to them. Japanese devs tend to go a bit too generic when they're aping western art styles.

Never played a MH game but loved Dragons Dogma and I hear it is somewhat similar. Is this a mp focused game in design?

It is similar in the sense that dragon's dogma adapted the monster hunter mechanics for big enemy hunts in dragon's dogma.

Monster Hunter in itself has a different game structure, you have a headquarters you accept missions in and it sends you to a game area for the hunt, you finish the hunt and then get sent back to headquarters (village, in mh parlance). Wether you go into the hunts solo or team up with other hunters is your choice, although some high-end late game hunts are really tough to do solo.

I wouldn't say it's mp focused game design, but rather that the game design easily facilitates multiplayer activity.

Interesting note, at 1:41 you hear a female in the Japanese version of the trailer of the person using dual swords and in the English trailer you hear a male voice. So the voice acting is probably injected on trailer level rather than in-game. AKA subject to change.

And they made him a Lord of Cinder. Not for virtue, but for might. Such is a lord, I suppose. But here I ask. Do we have a sodding chance?

Meh. It's 2020.

As much as I respect MH's roots: I want to go back to 30fps Monster Hunter like I want to fill my underwear with thumbtacks before going horse riding.

Announce World 2 already, you fucks know that shit's already in development.

Please bring back the old armour skill system, with separate blademaster/gunner sets. Oh and weapons that don't look like shit.

Damn, that's how people looked in World? Quite ugly imo.

The mobility is gonna set this game apart. I initially turned my nose up when CAPCOM added mounting / split-level combat in MH4 but it ended up adding so much dynamism to every battle. MHW improved even more of the traversal aspects with sliding and better shortcuts between "zones". Now they're just like "hold my beer Breath of the Wild"

I love it.

Nah. Cherry picked screenshot. MH:W pretty much sets the standard at this point.
Standard of ugliness?
Japanese people were celebrating right after MH Rise announcement because they're no longer needed to see ugly handler face and getting 2 beautiful women in return.

I've been trying to get into Generations, but I think I might just skip it and wait for Rise. I've got more games to play at the moment, and less time to play them. Everything I've seen about Rise looks great. I'm looking forward to that Capcom TGS broadcast.

I really felt this way too until the past couple of weeks. I think you just need to give it a try with people, it makes the game much more enjoyable besides the incessant palico meowing. Like DunDunDunpachi DunDunDunpachi stated before though, it's not a game I would play for hours on end. I have just been trying to set a goal for myself.. working on a certain armor set log in for 1 hour of a hunt and work towards that and then go and to play something else.
