PCGamer: "Just admit that your console exclusives are coming to PC already."

People playing on a X or Pro on a good tv/sound system dosnt it feel/look amazing? Mine does. I just cant imagine PC been much better despite the specs. The efficiencies of only having to code to a couple of machine variations is insane.

I have a hard time believing someone with a good console setup is far off a high powered PC in terms of graphics (outside of frame rate).

I was watching the DF analysis of the conference and Alex said something to the effect 'Oh I didn't know Miles got powers, I never finished it'.....
That is typical PC gamer. Buying games on sale for as little as possible, loading it up for 5 minutes and seeing a few mods and then never touching it again.
Literally the worst 'gamers' out there. People that line Nvidias pockets but want to screw the developers at every turn.
You must have not seen some people's steam library, and the thousands of hours they put into some games. The hardcore PC gamers definitely put more hours into games than hardcore console players.

On the other hand PC has the largest library of games compared to any console, so there's plenty of choice, and not to mention a slew of incoming games from all parties this gen. Great time to be alive.

You forgot to include Cheaper Games and Free Online on PC.

I'm also not sure about the "Cost" part, but the end of the gen you would have likely paid more on console because you pay more for games, pay for online and pay for upgrades.

Well sales have become much more equally aligned now.

The cost of building a pc to compete with a next gen console is at least £1200. PC You also pay for upgrades. I think you have to be a very heavy PC user to make up for that expense.

I cry about SonyGaf from my chair in Redmond, WA
"obfuscate reality" by explicitly writing that it's "available on PC."

Sure mate. 🤔

God, PC Gamer becomes more desperate the closer we get to the launch of the new consoles. These people are so (irrationally) afraid of becoming irrelevant that they're been writing the most inane crap for months.

Sound is the same, but you'll see a big difference with graphics/frames on your OLED. There's a sizable gap, alright

Do you hook up a X or Pro to compare? If so fair enough. I haven't got a high end PC I'm just super impressed with the Pros graphics on my calibrated OLED. 😊

I don't blame PC gamers for wanting Demon's Souls, but they must be confused with Dark Souls.

Just buy a PS5. Most PS Studios games will remain PS5 exclusive for that exact reason.

PlayStation should just have a high end console every gen.... 800 to 1000 dollars.

Top GPU performance with water cooling and a higher capacity SSD with more memory.

Limited supply. Premium finish with tempered glass finish on top and high grade plastics and metals on the frame.

Then PC gamers have nothing to complain about cause the performance would be there and Sony can make more money. 100 euro profit on each...I'd buy it.

Why pay for a Honda with added on trim and ugly rims, when I can get a high end race car of choice for same or cheaper money. Sony better be willing to kiss those customers, before fucking them.

Insomniac?
Should have been bought over a decade ago. Not a surprise.

Sony have missed the boat on almost every great possible acquisition every generation.... they could have owned Rockstar for nothing back in the PS1 days.

1200? No lol. 3060 is around PS5 level (according to leaked specs), maybe even faster, you talking about $300-350 card here. You should be able to build PS5 equivalent PC for around $800. That difference between PS5 and PC can already be made up for what you gonna pay for online play over 7 years ($420). With cheaper games and more frequent sales you should easily save another $400 over 7 years. So no, console gaming isn't really cheaper than gaming on PC. Even building a PC for $1200 now means we'll probably pay the same by the end of next gen.

No one wants that though. It would be a waste of time and a lot of money.

What are you talking about? PC is a fucking kit car... an unoptimized, glorified lego technic set.

See the engine pops out the top so you know its fast...

Just like on PC...you need a glass side and lots of lights to show how manly the 'not plastic' box makes you.

Nothings clear cut in reality.

Best graphics
Best frame rate
Mods
Mouse and keyboard

Vs

Convenience (click and play)
Friends list/trophies all in same system.
Rumble
Quick resume
Exclusive/timed content
Controller
HDR support
Cost

This post was written by someone who clearly doesn't play on PC.

Rumble has been on PC for decades now, friends lists and trophies on the same "system" is a bit odd, but Steam has had them for ages, so not sure where you are going there. Controllers have been a standard PC thing as well, hell you can still use your 360 controller on a PC if you want and lose out on pretty much nothing. PC has HDR support too. Also surprised you didn't mention console having FAR better audio support than PC. Surround sound is a pain in the ass even to this day on PC for a lot of titles.

First time I have ever seen Exclusive/Timed content as a positive and not some anti consumer BS. But whatever.

Like what you like, I play a ton of games on both systems. But I don't get this entire war between PC an consoles. Seems kind of absurd.

It's not absurd at all... Xbox is nearly gone, we need a new conquest. /S (kinda)

Unlike consoles, PC can be whatever you want. Some don't care for the flashy lighting, so it can be turned off. Unlike how each ps5 looks and runs exactly the same.

I much rather have the choice of what clothing to wear, what food to eat, I dictate my own decisions. I don't like to be told how to play my game, what settings, framerate, resolution, etc. You don't have that on console. You don't even have control of using your old DS4 on ps5. I can hook up a SNES controller on the other hand and play games from generations before that, and next gen games as well.

Demon Souls is definitely coming to PC. you dont just make a mistake like that.

sony did it after seeing the backlash.

i wouldnt be surprised if sony did the preorders a day early to distract from the insane backlash they received post conference.
Ever heard of Occam's razor?

Me: Yeah probably. I know certain games will remain exclusive. Horizon was one that surprised me initially until I learned it was probably because the studio wanted to advertise the power of their in game engine and license it to other people. So being on PC was an advertisement for that.

But no, outside of emulation or a screen share, I don't think the main titles from the likes of God of War or Mario will be on PC.

But third party exclusives. Yeah, probably. But by then I won't care they are on PC. And people on PC will say how they won't buy the games when they get ported, but they will.

i would argue gaming on console was more expensive long term last generation. How many people bought multiple base module systems? Did you also buy the pro model? Pay for online? How many games did you buy at launch since they were all full price then. That stuff all adds up.

Launch games on pc are generally $48 or less. Free online, bundles, massive sales from 3rd party sites, and no one but yourself decides to upgrade. That $1200 you spend at the start doesn't look so bad now.

What my whole point is that you cant go wrong no matter what system you play on. They all have strengths and weaknesses.

So now it's a cardboard box?
Id honestly never use a plastic box to house hot electronics. Aluminum/steel and glass not only provide better cooling, but look much better, and are quality materials. I'm sure just about everyone would agree with this.

Someone should make a poll asking whether console players would rather cheap plastic or quality metals.

Well that's why I said to have a high end model. So console enthusiasts like me have an other option and to attract PC gamers with a high performance option rather than spending dev time and money on ports.

But the basic model is what gets the tech into the hands of the masses, so it will always come first.
The number of customers is needed to leverage the platforms strength and that in turn funds great games.

That's why I think Valve and Nvidia should at least fund or make one or two exclusives every once in a while...for PC.

Then if they wanted to bring them to console, PS could reciprocate.
