These consoles still need games, you know?

According to this line of thought, why the hell do they even release the Series X then? Bro... seriously, these guys should just say it like Mr Trump does - "It is what it is" and call it a day.

This is what they said. They just showed how incompetent their marketing is. First they pushed the power narrative, now they say a 4TF console with 226GB/s ram bandwidth is enough for full next-gen with ray tracing and all that good stuff.

Basically you don't need the Series X, according to their marketing (which targets casuals, not us).

I'll probably buy the Series S eventually if I don't upgrade my GPU, but damn, is their marketing horrible or not?

I’m glad we got a $499 price tag for the XsX.. the PS5 should cost the same or less to make so that’s probably what PS5 will cost too...

Now we wait for preorders 🙄

Ok, Sony, chicken game is over, now the ball is in your court. Will you stop showing asses and spill the beans?

$299 for the PS5 DE ($150 loss per console)
$399 for the PS5 BD ($100 loss per console)
total $250 loss per sold PS5
versus
$299 loss per unsold XSS (why buy one, if PS5 DE is cheap)
$200 loss per sold XSX (new price @$350, to remain competitive)
total $499 to $599 loss per sold XSS, XSX

DO IT SONY!! :p

Huh so XsS CPU is actually a touch slower than XsX at 3.4(with SMT)/3.6(8 threads). I wonder if they hit a cooling limit with that small form factor.

I wonder if in CPU limited scenarios this could give slightly more stable framerates on the X vs S, and it could lead to slightly faster loading on X as well.

The CUSTOM SSD and VELOCITY ARCHITECTURE are AMAZING

12 full seconds to load a save game!

Where are the people saying this was going to load faster than the PS5?

If my math is correct, this is around what, 1.2GB/s assuming they can use the whole RAM (they can't)?

10GB/12s = 0.83GB/s

8GB/12s = 0.67GB/s (assuming 2GB for OS)

Am I doing this right?

Wow... So Twitter if the new medium for announcing a new console generation... Anyone else feel a little underwhelmed. 🤔

I guess we are seeing Twitter being the prime platform that shows a large number of reactions to posts. It makes followers feel that they're more in reach with the Companies that tweet.

If anything, Sony proved those numbers with their fair share of reveals for the PS5 so far. Even their PS5 logo reveal on instagram showed crazy numbers on just that alone. Then media outlets will play second fiddle and collect the pieces to extend the life of such posts. What better way?

Why.... Why are ppl saying now that 220gb/s is... Enough?

"It is enough for 4 TF".... Well, yeah.... For 4 old arquitecture TF at 1080p without RayTracing and any next Gen improvements, sure....

I don't know how are they going to manage XboxS, but I wish for the developers to make their ports for XboxS the last thing, downgrading everything they can, and not even trying to make any concession/parity with the other versions, or third party games are going to be really fucked up...

Microsoft, I can understand ur moves from a comercial pov, but for the sake of the games, gosh, fuck you.

Ohh didnt see that. cant beat Sony in chicken. Looks like MS got no more tricks up its sleeve. No terrble showcase show. Saved us a borefest/
Looks like Sony is breaking even with the bloomberg 450 BOM.

For us UK folks looks like we are paying .
£450 PS5
£400 DE.

I have to buy 2 disk version. Im saving 100 quid of rip.

Quite alot of money loss to happen longterm for xbox. Its a win for consumers. Not so much xbox hardware division. These boxes were always going to be afordable so was never worried. I really just want game reveals. Just show me more games, more games

"That's because the PS5 will require drives that meet it's expected performance levels that current drives simply do not meet "

doesnt sound like a cheap SSD to me...

plz take your fanboy BS out of here

You're not the smartest tool in the shed, right?

The Internal SSD is comprised of 12 individual memory components. These are separate and cheap as heck components that, standalone, are slow. Then the custom controller is what allows for 12 components to work as 1 and substantially increase transfer speeds to the 5.5GB/s raw

What you quoted is for the external SSD bay. Since there's not 12 channels but 4 and less priority levels, it will need extra transfer speeds in order to compensate for both.

So again, you're wrong, and spreading bullshit again.

I think it's already been stated that games need to be coded to use the new IO platform. Existing games are coded to utilize the traditional (more Windows IO ish) method found in X1. Windows doesn't use NVMEs that efficiently, full stop.

Yeah, sure. So far, their amazing velocity architecture has shown load times consistently above 10s. That's all. I'm not speculating based on power of the cloud bullshit.

Well, I guessed the innards completely wrong, but I mean the shape was right so that's got to count for something. LOL

Is there only 4 GDDR6 chips in there?
Looks like it.

10 GB implies split bandwidth... or 5 chips. 224 GB/s though... that implies 14 Gbps GDDR6 over a 128 bit bus.

Idk, weird memory setup.

I thought it would be 6 GB @ 336 GB/s + 4 GB @ 224 GB/s for 10 GB total.

But Xbox says its all 10 GB @ 224 GB/s.
