SEGA plans on releasing an "Astro City" Mini. Featuring 36 Aarcade Games!!!

I wish they made this into a mini "console", I don't care for playing on such a small screen... and I want the option to play the MP games with my friends.

or just release that as an arcade collection for the consoles/steam, etc.

Another 13 just announced:

Cotton
Shinobi
Shadow Dancer
ESWAT
Crack Down
Gain Ground
Puyo Puyo
Columns
Bonanza Bros
Ichidant-R
Wonder Boy
Wonder Boy in Monster Land
Wonder Boy III: Monster Lair

Another 13 games remain to be revealed (scheduled for Sept 3rd)

So basically this beautiful fucking thing already has everything I want (sans Moonwalker, an understandable omission), with more to come. Pinch me.

Yeah, I would love Moonwalker and Spiderman, but both highly unlikely. The revealed games already looks good - lots of stuff never given a home release before.

They left out Shinobi?? Shadow Dancer?? I mean come on!!

Both games were confirmed yesterday, read the lists again and calm down young man!

Do any of the games announced use 6 buttons? I was hoping for some more Model 1 or 2 games, maybe there is still hope.

No, not yet, but it makes me think that we will be seeing Burning Rival, as I believe that does use six buttons. The rest of the Model 1 games all have non-joystick control schemes, so I don't expect any more of those, but I think Model 2 is still a possibility.

While I agree that the Megadrive has been overdone, I can't say the same for the other two. I can't think of any Master System game that has been released on modern systems, apart Alex Kidd in Miracle World. I would like to see Sega release a Master System collection, just like the Megadrive collection from a couple of years back. Apart from Virtua Fighter 2 and a few others, I think they have neglected their arcade library too, so I'm happy to see them dig deep into the System 16/18/24/32 libraries with this Mini system.

Some of my guesses for the final 13:

Choplifter
Wrestle War
Desert Breaker (top down shooter)
Arabian Fight (side scrolling beat'em up)
Burning Rival (a pre-VF 2D fighting game)
Ninja Princess
I would be really happy to see Choplifter but I doubt it since it's not a Sega IP and it would require outside licensing to work out. The Sega version is absolutely the best in the series though.

What MIGHT be an interesting alternative is Air Rescue, Sega's unofficial sequel. That has never gotten a real home port (though it did get an SMS game of the same name that played very differently).

Can't complain too much about the overall library, in fact it includes lots of neglected classics. Shame there is no sign of this coming West though.

Well that kind of ended with a thud. Space Harrier is nice, Thunder Force AC is okay if I remember correctly. The rest...blah.

Phantasy star was on the ps360 sonic collection.

I wanted Flicky, I expected Flicky, I got Flicky.

Most people will know Ninja Princess as The Ninja on the Master System. I know there's a lot of casual fans for that one.

Well shit. Amazon JP will ship me the Astro City cab but not the stick for some reason.

That sucks. It actually went up on amiami but not until after I checked for it at the usual update time so it ended up selling out before I could grab one.

$120 dollars ugh

It's a proper arcade stick so it's not gonna be cheap, it's about the same price as some of the mid range sticks on amazon J. Sega didn't cheap out on this thing as it's using sanwa parts and from the blurb on amazon you can mod it if you like as it's been designed to be tinkered with.

Yeah the talk is that it's basically a repackaged virtua high grade stick which is like one of the best sticks ever. I'm super pissed I missed it since I've been trying to get one for years.

Have you thought of maybe using a middleman shipper? I have one on order fom Amazon but i'm using Tenso to act as the middleman it's pretty much how i get all my gaming stuff from Amazon as they rarely ship direct to me in the UK. I have a feeling though shipping on that stick is gonna be high as it's gonna be pretty heavy i'm guessing. Not a cheap item to get either way but it does look lovely, planning on using it for mame too as it's usbood it will just plug into a pc. Segas megadrive mini pads worked fine like that.
