Nintendo's Brasil official Instagram account says "Switch is on the way"

The image says "soon in Brasil", while the description says "the Nintendo Switch system is on the way to Brasil! Stay tunned for more details"

This is huge... if they really come back.

Nintendo left Brazil in 2015, for a lot of reasons, including that we're in deep trouble on scandals with politicians. Nowadays is kinda better, with gaming still expensive, but not that bad.

The problem?! Nintendo is not here for real since the early Game Cube days, with local manufacture Gradiente stoping the support back then and, well, Nintendo became a thing for people who imports. Later a local publisher called NC Games got the job, but basically just also imported the games to sell for retailers, and still expensive in comparison with PlayStation or Xbox (which the discs are made here).

UPDATE:

September 18, 2020

Selected stores, still really nice

For those who might be wondering about how expensive gaming and electronics could get in Brazil, let me share something with you.

I live in Orlando, and we have a specific area of town with stores that essentially sell luggage and electronics. The whole thing is set up to cater to Brazilian tourists who fly up here, make their electronic purchases, and then have it ready to go straight to the airport, all because even with the traveling costs included it was cheaper for them to get their electronics this way.

Anyway, glad to hear it's gotten better. Enjoy the Switches.

Considering that the average switch game is around R$350 (about $70) due to all of them being imported I'm a bit optimistic by that. Maybe we'll finally see some more reasonable prices with the new official operation.

Brasil getting better after Lula and Lula's succesor flight out of the office? SHOCKED!! /s

BTW, good for them, I hope that also means we can benefit from it since the rest of iberoamerica depends on importing too.

Now you guys can officially join us Swich owners in the rest of Latin America in not using our Switches outside because we don't want to get mugged.
Didn't even think about that. I can leave my stuff out when I need to go to the toilet in restaurants and trains, feeling for you guys.

shit yeah!.., the more people that buy switch, the more fantastic ports

i want switch to last as long as possible so I can have an epic handheld library on one device

viva mobility!! viva nomad gamers!!

I saw that, and ignored it. Where is the price? I wanted to see them fucking over the MercadoLivre sellers who sell Switch for R$4000 reals

It will probably cost R$ 3800 reals and games will be R$ 350

Fuck them.

You had to open that scar, didn't you?!

Any word on price yet?

Edit: Nevermind, just saw that it will be 3000

Ugh, not bad, considering the economy and whatnot, but a far cry from the 1800 that you could find back in February...
And to make matters worse, we’re very close to the PS5 pre orders, so I guess I’ll pass on the Switch for now

Just remember that Sony doesn't do shit here. The PS5 will be totally imported, so expect something close to ten times the dollar, like they did with the PS4

Yeah, I’m expecting something around the 3.500-4.500 range, maybe 5.000 if they’re really greedy. I’ll refuse to buy anything above the 5 thousand mark.

XSX will surely arrive at a cheaper price, though.

I expect the PS5 to cost R$ 10.000 at least in the beginning. And stupid motherfuckers buying it in droves because that's what morons (Brazilians) do.

I hate this place.

Not true. PS4 already being manufacture here, so why PS5 would not? Not saying will be manufacture DAY ONE, but probably for sometime will be imported until get a official manufacture, normally in Brasilia.

Besides, Nintendo NEVER cared about Brazil because piracy on Nintendo consoles a far more common here, instead they prefer to leave.

Nintendo Switch will be expensive just like the PS4 launch here probably if we consider the Wii U price.

The first time I saw the PS3 at UZ Games here in São Paulo it cost R$ 7000 (in 2006) and some idiot bought it.

Some mobile phones are R$ 6000 plus.

I hope you are right and they are not sold for more than R$ 5000 but since Brazilians are stupid I worry they will cost way more than that.

Oh, my son... You're so naive. People are expecting the PS5 at least for US$500, and maybe even US$600. So don't be scared for a PS5 costing more than R$5000, because there's a huge chance that will be

The PS4 is not manufactured here anymore. We have just the boxes/plastic stuff.

I'm not naive. I owned a UZ Games store from 2012 to 2015 actually and I worked on the industry for many years before going to the automotive industry (another industry full of morons shelling out cash for shitty cars). I hope you are right, but as I said up there, I saw the PS3 in the wild being sold for seven fucking thousand in 2006 and a moron bought it.

I'm not saying officially.

But imagine the following scenario. For some stupid reason Sony Brasil does not launch it in the same day - maybe a month later.

For a whole month the thing will be sold for a HUGE amount of money because, unfortunately, this is a country of clowns who pay more to have stuff and think it's normal. I can guarantee I will see it on MercadoLivre for pornographic amounts of money and idiots will eat it up just to have it first.

That's probably the MSRP. Ask our friends around the world when was the last time they saw Switch at MSRP.
I believe that Switch still is on short supply anywhere.

PS4 stopped being manufactured here after 2017, nowadays every unit is imported. Fortunately, it hasn’t harmed the prices.

Yep, I remember seeing a PS3 for something like 10.000 at Ibirapuera back in 2006, crazy times those were...

Maybe, but remember that PS4’s official launch in 2013 was a disaster here, even Sony themselves recognized that the pricing was absurd (mostly due to taxes), so I seriously doubt that we’ll get a huge price.

Yeah, exactly!

The one I saw for R$ 7000 was at Shopping Morumbi. lol

And I hope they go easy on the price (especially considering our grim reality nowadays)

Unfortunately, our economy has been raped for too long, so now our currency is as worthless as fuck.

And as if things weren’t bad enough, a pandemic pops out of nowhere and fucks things even more

2020 is the worst year possible for a next gen on Brazil (and probably in the rest of the world)

Why did they stop manufacturing it here? Did they ever confirm?

I'm not studying this for nothing.
(I hope. lol)

Good luck to Nintendo ferrying the palettes up the Amazon, since apparently that's what it takes to get things to Brazil.

Are you Brazilian?
Up there in the Amazon, Brazil has a huge industrial complex with special tax rules for imports/knock-down manufacture.
That why a good portion of all electronics that comes to Brazil pass through Manaus Free Zone.
