All of that is again entirely beside the point.

I’m guessing English might not be your native language. I don’t think you really understood what I was saying in the first place, or what point I was initially responding to.
You’ve not taught me anything or even contradicted anything I said, while seemingly trying to either correct me or educate me on points I’ve not made.

This isn’t the first time you’ve done this to something I’ve wrote, either.
I think we’ll leave it at that.
Well I can’t help you if you don’t want to be helped lol

Your post strong rely on how software APIs works to start to understand why it is easier to do direct calls API (PS5) vs DirectStorage API calls (Series X).

Direct X APIs will always have a layer (or layers) of abstraction over it.

lol, understandable

But hardware would already be getting made/boxed/stored somewhere IIRC with the way console launches work... that's why Sony can be so confident, they know it isn't getting delayed because at worst, they won't make as many as they'd like to be able to get out before a launch date, but they'd probably already have manufacturing started.

And that's all stuff they contracted many months ago.. so the space in factories long ago reserved.. quite a bit different then promising when software will be done.

And that's the thing. Logistically we know they have been making these consoles since the beginning of June so somewhere >3 million made/boxed/palletised. These will be sent on a container ship(s) heading for NA/EU/Japan. No way can they be stored at the factory and nor at the distribution centers around the world (they work basically in a just in time fashion and move through these warehouses quickly). This is just one element here. There are dozens of other elements involved in all this.

Besides I'm on a bet to pick up a PS5 around launch without pre-ordering. I really don't fancy a trek to some factory in China somewhere...

Since we are talking about possible delays anyone remember this article?

.
Spencer, however, said that he and his fellow executives still “feel good about” Microsoft’s supply chain.

“The hardware side, it feels like we’ll be able to get enough units,” he said.

But even that comment may not allay every fear players have. There will apparently be enough Xbox Series X units to satisfy hardware demand this holiday season, but Spencer’s comments seem to clearly focus on hardware and not software.

Seems like hardware wasn't going to be an issue but then there's this part.

Indeed, stay-at-home orders have caused widespread delays across the gaming industry, which Spencer acknowledged in his interview with Fils-Aimé. He stopped short of saying whether any Xbox Series X launch titles could be pushed back.

Microsoft did not immediately respond to a Digital Trends request for comment on the status of the launch games and will update this story when we hear back.

If they do delay the system it will probably be because of the state of the software not the hardware.

"Hardware will be there, API and velocity architecture you'll download as DLC in March 2021. Before then you can use XSX as stand for your Xbox one".

Here is an interesting little tidbit from the Anandtech review of the SK Hynix P31 SSD about the console SSDs.

Anandtech said:
(Side note: The Sony PS5 will use a 12 channel controller, which means it should be able to hit its performance targets with a 533MT/s NAND interface speed. The Xbox Series X is likely using a 4-channel controller, so it will probably need to use a faster NAND interface speed despite the SSD as a whole offering less than half the throughput

Not only could this be a shrewd move by Sony it may even mean an overall lower cost for the SSD?

My main complaint in Resistance Fall of Man was how utter fake, stiff and abrupt the animations were in the game - how weightless everything felt especially the Chimera troopers. And now I look at Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart and I am amazed at the quality of the animation which has reached CGI levels. How the enemy models literally 'morph' their anatomy in order to make bite attacks, stagger animations, death/KO animations, laughing, attacking ... it's amazing.

I would really love to see a Resistance game made by the Insomniac of today. I think it would be simply breathtaking.

I don’t need your help. You don’t even understand what I’m talking about. Perhaps not even that PS5 uses its own FileArchive API for storage to abstract what it also does behind the scenes—which is what you seek to want to reply to me about but not at all what I was talking about in the first place.

I’m putting it down to a language barrier and you being convinced I said something I never did. I don’t require any help so please stop pinging me with replies.

Glad someone else noticed the animations. :messenger_sunglasses:

Even after pre-ordering, & everything revealed. Heck even have a PS5 in their home. Dudes would still complain & ask for more info from Playstation.

It’s the same attitude from months ago where people were convinced the lack of info will doom PS5. I remember someone on reddit /r/PS5 being livid that the console was only 6 months away and Sony hadn’t shown us it yet, and that it was putting him off buying one.
It’s all just toys out of the pram stuff. A CGI reveal of the controller and console is enough to get millions looking and talking. As is the radical idea of showing games running on it.

It was so cool when they revealed the hardware. Alot of people were worried that they took so long to reveal it compared to Microsoft.

Funny how things changed since that event right?

You say this now, but wait until everyone finds out about the secret GPU in the power brick. You won't have VR goggles on your face like you do on your avatar pic, but instead you'll have egg on your face and you'll really be shitting bricks then, pal. BWAHAHAHAAH!

On a more serious note, though. Haven't Cerny and company tried to address the compute unit occupancy problem with their custom cache scrubbers and coherency engine? Do you think they have an idea on how much more "occupancy" they've gained? They must have tested this out against a standard RDNA2 chip. I wonder if it their 36CU chip punches above its weight enough to compete with a 40-something RDNA2 chip. Just spitballing.

Really wondering about this. Someone got some insight for a poor fool such as myself?

If Sony did all this damage with R&C... I think we don't need more confirmation they want to bleed the competition out...

I am agree

But I don't understand why Sony is showing some R&C gameplay while Spider man must come out first. (SSD marketing position ? :messenger_beaming:)
Maybe spider man is even more realistic/beautiful ? Sony have a strong card to play and wait the right moment to do so :messenger_sunglasses:

Whatever, I will buy them both :messenger_beaming:

Like the old trailer?

Or are the reflections here wrong I can't really tell.
my argument was that the original reflections were physically accurate because they were raytraced, and were removed temporarily because they glitched when going thru the portal. others are arguing that in the new gameplay they were "fixed" only see the sky reflected, which is horribly wrong from this perspective

Maybe they didn't want any negative backlash from those butthurt over not having Spiderman in avengers?

Just kidding.

I'm sure they want to show it close to launch to drive up hype for the systems release.

If HW delays is what your shocked gif was about the other day then I will quite confidently say at this point that won't be happening. I really do think they are already passed the point of no return (both consoles) to delay them. Too many people like devs and retail would be affected if they did it now.

The storm this will cause if this happens though....*unplugs network cable*.
Not to mention Sony just sent those emails about pre-orders.

That's what I was thinking, SM:MM is releasing before R&C but we haven't seen a single gameplay. But with that said, if SM looks as good as it does in the trailers well, they could be saving the gameplay reveal for some flexing at their next event.
I mean, look at this, you can see the small little hairs in his forehead, I took these screenshots directly from the trailer:

Also look at his hair! it looks so good

You should stop listening to rumors started on discord :messenger_winking:
Has it been debunked yet? Although it wouldn't make sense for Insomniac to work on this "extension" of they weren't sure they had the proper rights
