[TGS2020] Tokyo Gameshow 2020: WHAT Can We Expect From Japan in September

Even though the event will be online this year, this will be a post-next gen reveal event.

There should be some:
  1. Cross gen announced games from 1st and 3rd parties
  2. Swan song game for current gen
  3. Big AAA reveals for Ps5 / XBOX from 3rd party.
  4. Big Exclusive deals
What could show up?

It wont happen but I wanna see FFXVI even though it will probably end up being shit. Other than that, a mere crumb of Elden Ring would be nice.

Biggest thing I'm looking forward is.....

- Shin Megami Tensei V gameplay.

- Granblue Fantasy: Relink info and release date.

- Project Re Fantasy trailer and hopefully gameplay with it.

- Bayonetta 3 gameplay
Do we know if Atlus is attending? I was begging for some SMT V gameplay but some guy told me their attendance isn't confirmed.

Its TGS lol nothing much gets shown there.

Plenty of cheap mid-budget japanese PS4 games to be sure.

When is TGS? I can expect something Platinumgames related. KOF to be shown. Guilty Gear to there. Capcom to show RE8.

I think we may have some new RE8 trailer, SMTV gameplay and something from SE (but nothing crazy like FFXVI or VII Remake part 2). That's the most exciting things I can see happening there.

It's sad TGS was the best videogame show back in the day, even better than E3 sometimes, and now it's almost irrelevant.

Since some people in this thread are bringing up Elden Ring I'd like to do a PSA that the official Elden Ring trailer from the playstation account has shitty audio that was recorded from the speakers at the event it was shown at (edit - possible technical reason for why it sounds so bad below my posts Bartski Bartski ):

Compare that to how it sounds in the official FROMSOFTWARE youtube channel version:

I know its not really new stuff but hopefully thats a tiny excitement for all you boys and girls that are hankering for more about this game, peace.

FUCK KNOWS why the official playstation channel did that or even more puzzingly why haven't they fixed it at this point lol. I don't even gaf if I even end up playing this game or not, that trailer was just so cool I REALLY want to see more from this game.

It's actually 2 copies of the audio overlapping with a small time offset hence the heavy audible comb-fileting (aka everything sounding "metallic" and kinda lo-fi degraded... ) this can happen in a number of ways and is an audio production schoolbook 101 fuckup. How could this still be up there blows my mind, they should all go see a laryngologist

It really irks me we haven't seen anything new from Granblue Fantasy.

I want that game so badly since it's reveal.

Yeah, maybe somehow its the audio from the event really loud and then the direct feed audio quieter over it, its like a terrible dub where you can hear the english underneath lol.

I hope the next PS5 event takes place near TGS so we can see stuff like Final Fantasy XVI, Demon's Souls gameplay, Silent Hill and hopefully Project Re Fantasy.

yeah there seems to be some additional ambiance to it like an open mic somewhere in the render. Crazy. My guess is they messed up the only copy of the file they had at the time but why not replace later? Beats me.

CyGames was focused on Versus, that's why we haven't heard anything about ReLink for a while, but that's about to change as they will show ReLink again in december iirc.

Let's see how 2020's been so far: SHIT

MS shows: SHIT
Sony shows: SHIT
E3 divided in 10.000 shows: 10.000 SHITS
Gamescom: SHIT

I think it's easy to say that TGS will be:
SHIT
Sony's PS5 reveal wasn't shit, in fact it was one of their best shows ever.

If you're a PS fanboy that is. But it was pretty mediocre
What? They debuted NINE first-party exclusives in one showcase and some really cool third-party stuff (Project Athia, Resident Evil Village, Deathloop, Pragmata, Little Devil Inside, etc).

If you didn't like the games for whatever reason that's your problem, but it was a great show. Plus it was all gameplay or in-game footage running on PS5.

Nothing interesting or notable. TGS has been underwhelming for years.

I expect Elden Ring to be at either the next PS5 showcase or at The Game Awards 2020, leaning towards the latter.

Yeah, I know. But I always thought it was weird that their fighting game came out first.

Like, isn't this a new franchise?

Wouldn't it make more sense to come out with the RPG first so I can get familiar with the characters and the lore of the franchise before I get excited for the fighting game?

Because I completely ignored the fighting game for that reason.

I don't want to be a party pooper but to be honest TGS has been lackluster for years now (with a few exceptions in terms of announcements). And i'm afraid that with all that pandemic crap it will only get worse this year.

But who knows Japanese people in general are unpredictable and they may positevely surprise us! :messenger_bicep:

They showed an awesome Ratchet and Clank gameplay video,GT7 gameplay which is a return to the series roots,Demon's Souls Remake and Horizon 2 announcements, and some smaller but very interesting games with actual gameplay like Kena.
So no it wasn't "shit". It wasn't great either but definitely not shit.

Well, it is not. Both ReLink and Versus are based on the universe of Granblue Fantasy, a super popular mobile game that has been out in Japan since 2014. So technically we - western gamers - are not the target audience of Versus, so it doesn't matter to CyGames if we are familiar with the characters and lore or not.

I am already disappointed with Sega's B.L.A.C.K teaser from a couple days ago. I thought it was something related to Sakura Wars.... not some modern idol group thing with funny name "Brilliant Legislative Artistic Celebrity Knights"....

Maybe it's connected to the Sakura Wars universe one way or another - but I'm not sure if I want to even bother with this. Stiff animation is pretty laughable and not so sure about character designs as well.

I would be greatly surprised if they announce Persona 6 for PS5 for 2022 release, and maybe more info regarding Resident Evil 8.
