I loved the anime as a kid and love football in general but this game doesn't appeal to me gameplay wise for some reason. 9 characters as DLC is really bad for a football game too imo.

The legends edition with the full sized football table is pretty cool I guess.

Edit: NVM its $2.2k for the legends edition :messenger_tears_of_joy:

Yeah, it's pretty cool but damn expensive. It's made by the one of the manufactets of football tables I. The world - René Pierre.

Still, damn expensive, but it doesn't beat Devil May Cry 5 Ultra Limited Edition which cane with a replica of Dante's coat and costs 8000$.

I wanna buy this but fuck i am worried about the DLC addons in this game. I dont want it to be another mobile game that keeps on sucking money

I didn't know that a legendary edition with a "kicker table" (what do you call them in the US?) exists. I had posted an extended gameplay video in the other Tsubasa thread, I think it fits here better.

I'm genuinely thinking about a pre-order (because of pre-load), this just looks like dumb fun... especially online.

Fantastic OT, Nankatsu Nankatsu !

Me, TLZ TLZ , and Mista Mista grew up watching this anime which was called Captain Majid, dubbed in Arabic :D

Glad to see this game being the best Captain Tsubasa/Majid game yet!

Thank you Kojima-san.

Same here MiyazakiHatesKojima MiyazakiHatesKojima , one of the reasons on why I went completely nuts when this game was announced, immediately booked the OT in the OT thread and tried to make the most beautiful OT possible. It's been 10 years since the last Captain Tsubasa game.

The arcade football genre took a huge hit, everybody just wants FIFA and PES. But damn, we used to have amazing arcade football games, which were tons of fun, like Sega Soccer Slam, Red Card Soccer or Mario Strikers. I really hope this Captain Tsubasa game reignites que Arcade football genre again.

Hope to see you in the game!

So far, they've stated in the trailer (here I've time stamped it for you) that all custom upgrades are acquired via in-game points which are obtained only by playing the game.

Which makes me believe that, besides characters, micro-transactions for cosmetic stuff is out.

I believe they'll do an approach similar Dragon Ball FighterZ, in terms of characters season pass.

FPS and Resolution comparison from all platforms? Don't believe PS4 is 1:1 like the Switch.

Switch version lacks grass, or so I've heard :messenger_tears_of_joy:.

The official website states that PS4 targets 1080p 30 fps, doesn't say if it's PRO enhanced.

Switch also targets 1080p 30fps docked. Undocked is the usual 720p - no info on FPS thought.

PC I guess it's framerate unlocked.

But gameplay footage from all platforms I haven't seen it yet.

I want to try Furano as well. I like Matsuyama.

Hard work always pays off!

First review is in:

Captain Tsubasa: Rise of New Champions (PS4, Switch) – 8/8/8/8 [32/40]

- The balance that is not one-sided is exquisite.
- The training mode is fun and the development changes in round play.
- Editing and growing players is rewarding and enjoyable.
- The game also looks like a battle without fouling and exhausting the keeper.
- There are few new works of this kind these days and it is fresh.
- A good balance between character games and action games. It's very good.
- Even if you do not know the detailed tactics of soccer, you can play easily and the frontage is wide.

Awesome news on being enhanced for PS4 Pro.

Regarding the Optional In-game purchases , I'm guessing it is the players that are included in the character's pass and will be sold separately in case you want to buy a specific one.

Need to wait and see.

Germany is the final Boss!
Oh, the anime schedule here in italy was fucked up.

They even used alternative names for the protagonists so when i watched the jap version i didn't even know who the fuck tsubasa was :ROFLMAO: in italy his name is oliver hatton...

I am interested in the game, but I have to admit, the number of editions and DLC characters is gross. Hard to believe a Captain Tsubasa title is outdoing Ubisoft in the Fuck You Give Me Money game.

The game is not even out yet, and they are advertising DLCs with 9 other characters. Why not put them in the main game to begin with, you greedy bastards?

Isn't carlos the brazilian?

That's Carlos Bara aka Carlos Santana. Since they're considering the source material pretty well, it makes perfect since for him to be known as Carlos Bara in this game, since this is based on Junior youth. During that time Carlos Santana was known has Carlos Bara.

Karlz Hanz Schneider is the Germain Captain and forward. A kickass character. My favourite to be honest.

True, but it's bandai namco. Just look at their fighting games for example. It's their practice (even though it is wrong and I agree 100% with you).

Yea Karl Heinz is badass, but a total nightmare to me was Coimbra from the CTII game. His name later changed to Natureza I think.

Coimbra is an original character for CTII, supposed to be Zico's reference in the game since he shares his name with the former Brazilian legend.

He was Hongo's secret weapon in the finals to troll with players. He was way too OP.

Natureza is a different character.

By the way, new launch trailer lads:

Huuuuge fan of the Anime and the nes version of the game (grew up with it) so bought it in a heartbeat. Cant wait to try it out tomorrow. Should be some fun just for nostalgia's sake if nothing else.

Oh cool. I didn't know Zico's real name was exactly the same. This is very interesting. However I don't remember Coimbra ever returning after CTIV. Well maybe for the better because I don't need more nightmares :messenger_grinning_sweat:

Btw if anyone wants to watch gameplay, I found this video below. Please don't watch if you don't want anything SPOILED for you.

Colour me interested, with caveats that all that DLC can fuck right off. I'm ready for some less-than-serious football.

Thanks. Coimbra in CTII was confusing. Couldn't find him in the anime.

First reviews dropping in, here's some:

TheSixthAxis - 8/10

Captain Tsubasa: Rise of New Champions is the wild and hyper-stylised sports game I've been craving for over a decade. The gameplay is quick to pick up, but hard to master, and the over-the-top anime transitions and animations that are sprinkled throughout the action make it endlessly entertaining.

Hobby Consolas - 87/100

Shacknews- 8/10

Captain Tsubasa: Rise of New Champions marks the franchise's return to gaming after a ten-year hiatus. This action-sports title delivers on the charisma and charm that have become synonymous with the series, despite a middling story.

IGN Italy- 7.8/10

Captain Tsubasa: Rise of the New Champions is a heartful love letter to the masterpiece of Yoichi Takahashi. Despite some flaws, such as a very clumsy progression system and some naive design choces, the game is fun to play, it feels like to be in the anime series, has a great potential online and the chance to create custom team and custom players is fan service at its best.

GamePro Germany- 7.9/10

When the whistle in Captain Tsubasa: Rise of New Champions kicks off, overhead kicks, tears and friendship are close together. And that's quite fun.

This is really fast paced, it didn't look like that from the gameplay but damn. It's also a lot harder than I expected, you really need to pay attention to get the dodges (R1 and R2) right. Getting a decent shot on the goal is also very hard since defenders are storming you as soon as you have the ball and the goalie is a tough nut as long as his spirit bar isn't depleted.. lol

You can also throw your FIFA/PES skills out of the window, lol, nothing works as expected except for passing and flanking. :messenger_tears_of_joy:

But I like what I've played so far. The presentation is very nice! Looking forward to playing Story mode over the weekend.

To get back to this one, since I've bought it for PS4, it definitely runs at 60 on Pro (my Pro is running with 1080p output, though, dunno if it also runs at higher res).

It's not the same if you can't rename characters with the old Fininvest dubbing, give me Holly, Benji, Bruce and Mark back (or Olive if you live in France).

At least we have Karl Heinz Schneider, aka Der KAISER!
