When do you think Halo infinite will release March/Spring 2021 or November/Holiday 2021. Based on the Statement provided does it give us any idea? I think it's totally possible we could see a release in March 2021 due to the fact them alluding they could make the Series X launch but they don't want to put their employees under crunch circumstances. The Series X becomes a harder sell this holiday without a Halo infinite release date. I think it's very important for Microsoft to be transparent and announce a release date soon as possible.

Depends on how many bodies and how much money they want to try and throw at it... hopefully they take a step back and rethink some of this stuff and spend another full year working on it.

Also probably depends on whatever games might already be ready for next spring, if release dates are packed then it makes sense to allow it to go a full year and market heavy for next holiday season?

I imagine they will take the liberty of moving the game off X1 and straight to next-gen, personally. Halo is the title that has to driver, otherwise all you have is frosting and no cake.

I’m willing to bet 2-3 years. Might seem crazy but I’m also under the assumption the game gets pulled from 343. You can’t have your flagship series ran into the ground and then set on fire when you’re trying to release a new console. What 343 put out is embarrassing and for the financial backing they have it’s inexcusable.

Wow really. You guys think it is delayed by an entire 1 YEAR ?

I thought they were always on a go ahead for launch Halo 5 in that sorry state and only push backed after fan backslash. An year delay to make it perfect seems very non-MS'y.

I think it depends how well XSX sells without it. Solid continued sales from launch, and i think they will delay the game until Fall 2021. Underperforming XSX sales, and i could imagine them trying to push the game out in like March time.
I picked Fall though in the poll, and a full year will certainly help the game i hope.

All games they've shown in the presentation are coming next year, except Spiderman remaster. Their sloppy messaging about PS5 indicates they are in as much chaos as Microsoft at the least.

That’s not true.
I have a list of the announced 20-30 launch titles in the OT and more are expected to be announced later.

They should declare cease fire with Sony and release both consoles in spring like the Switch did. Clearly neither Microsoft or Sony are ready.

Neither can do it, there’s just way too much involved. The production gears are turning and can’t be stopped, marketing deals are in place. It’d cost so much to delay that even a terrible launch is worth it. A game being delayed even half a year out is a really bad blow for a lot of that stuff. A console takes it 10x

If the production is half as troubled as we've inferred, a year would be for the best.

It might genuinely be a Spring release, though. I'm not sure Microsoft can resist the allure of Halo being 'right around the corner'.

Is it? Or are you seeing what you want to see?
The console is not releasing tomorrow, it's releasing in 3 months.
They could announce it and put pre-orders up 1 week before the release and it would still sell out at launch.
You don't really need to talk much when you produce results.
People should really learn some breathing techniques to calm themselves down instead of panicking over lack of the info they want for something releasing in 3 months.
Both MS and Sony have a plan, these things aren't decided overnight, and it's understandable why no pricing has been announced. They will wait until the last minute to announce it since component, assembly/availability and distribution prices vary every day with the Covid mess (you never know when a factory or distribution plant is going into lockdown because a worker tested positive) and the moment they announce it, they are locked to it for better or worse.

I think holiday next year and making it Series X/PC exclusive, I honestly believe having it on the original underpowered Xbox One and S is holding it back and that's where the Graphics issue lies

They will likely use it to combat some sony exclusive so probably when HFW releases. My out of the blue guess would be beginning of Q2.

The thing is it makes no damn difference to them because they can delay it and people would still be paying their subscription over the Christmas period regardless without a big release.

No point releasing it in March unless they're 100% satisfied at this point.

Holiday and make sure it delivers.

They should just release it for the One & One X as soon as its ready and start from fresh on a Series X Halo game, built from the ground up to take advantage of the consoles strengths...they won't of course, too much invested in Infinite, but that's what they should do and should've done from the start.

If it even comes out for holiday 2021, it'll be limited and they will keep telling you it's a 10 year project to make you feel ok about how it's not finished yet.

It they're smart (and it's possible) they should release in the US summer. There's not a lot of competition at that time of year and games can sell a lot of units when gamers are hungry for a major title. Holidays are a traffic jam, they should avoid them.

Plenty of people want a bad Halo game. You've been here more than five minutes, you know that to be true.

But if releasing it early meant it would be bad doesn't that make the delay a good thing? Alot of people said it should be delayed before Microsoft did. You should thank then for giving them negative feedback. The game will be better because of them.

i think they need a full year, but I don't think MS will give them that, especially if they are being outsold as comfortably as it seems like they will be

i think April or March 21

It should be delayed by a year.

But my gut feeling is that MS won't wait that long without an exclusive and dunno it before end of fiscal year. Will be glad to be wrong though.

I think with a full year they could probably turn this one around. Spring would probably only get us some nips and tucks.

The problem with Halo Infinite are fundamental design decisions.
There aiming the Xbox one S to run at 1080p/60fps.
In my opinion there only option is to have Halo run at 900p/30fps on the Xbox one S, which would give them the headroom to increase fidelity of the game. Thus when you get the XSX version it can run at 4k/60fps. Forget 4k/120fps thats a waste of resources, increase the fidelity of the game.

I imagine they will take the liberty of moving the game off X1 and straight to next-gen, personally. Halo is the title that has to driver, otherwise all you have is frosting and no cake.

They're not going to leave those 50m XB1 owners unable to play it, and it would only help a little as most of the game is built already, and built around XB1.

To get a more impressive Halo, you'd have to fundamentally change the game and game engine to not focus on native 4k 60fps open world, which Series X will always struggle with.

It’s a damned if you, damned if you don’t situation. For the game’s sake, MS have to bury the X1 completely. They’re going to be releasing a game for X1 a year after it has stopped manufacture and THE seminal title in ther IP catalog. And, if they do push in to Q4, will be compared alongside upcoming Sony exclusives for PS5.

The best bet is to move forward, perhaps allow the MP suite on X1, but gimping the game to appease past purchases is going to hurt the final product. Cut your losses, apologize, and move on IMO.

I don’t get the sentiment that there is something “fundamentally wrong” with the game. Like at all. Looked way better than 4 and 5 gameplay wise - I don’t think it will be pushed too far out unless they decide to completely remake the game for some reason.

i mean, does it matter? The game is going to be the worst effort yet by 343i and a terrible Halo game by any standards. Halo is dead with this dev, I'm hopeful that in 5-10 years they reboot the franchise with competent dev team

Because the sony strikeforce like to use it as anti xbox propaganda. Come one, we all know how this works by now! Personally i agree with you. Gameplay looked great. Graphics and HUd need work imo.
