Deathloop blocks the PS5 DualSense controller triggers when your weapon jams (Innovative feature of the PS5 DualSense)

So basically a low key way to wear out and break triggers to replace controllers more often.
I see you, sony.

EXACTLY. Do you know how many people are going to absolutely HAMMER their triggers to make them "unstick"?

So with the always active touchpad, fun lights, in controller speakers and now servo motor is this thing expected to have a battery life of 1 hour

it comes within a car battery back pack to simulate dual shock 4 battery life.

So when the gun jams, I can't physically press the controller? There's some kind of actuator stopping the press?

If so that's cool as fuck but battery life is a concern. Also component malfunction.

I really hope they have put this controller through some rigorous testing because having so many gadgets on a controller makes me fearful of defects, failure and breakage.

Yeah, this controller sounds pretty fragile to me. But maybe I've just had to ship in too many Joy-cons for stick drift.

This sounds awesome to be honest.

my only concern with all these features in controller is the battery life. The dualshock 4 battery life is beyond trash.

Ask me about my wife's perfect butthole
Sounds really cool kinda.. but realism for the sake of realism is not "fun" to me.. I really don't want guns that jam in my games lol

Kind of neat, seems like something else to break honestly. Not a huge fan of Xboxs' adaptive trigger rumble either though. Of course, I welcome being proven wrong.

Vibration (PS1)
Pressure Sensitive Buttons (PS2)
Motion Control (PS3)
Light Bar (PS4)
Speakers (PS4)
Touchpad (PS4)
Adaptive Triggers (PS5)

Now we have all 7 features in one controller. I think thats neat.

Wait, the DS has pressure-sensitive buttons?........ Shit. Hated them on PS2/PS3.

I wonder if the controller will be really hard to take apart and modify. That was kinda fun with PS4 controllers, but if anyone thought those little springs for the shoulder buttons were hard to get back in, it makes me wonder what insanity is going on inside of these.

how do you block the dual sense's triggers? by actualy ignoring the player input or by doing a hard lock on the physical trigger preventing the player to push the trigger?

because if it's the latter you know : the second worst thing a playstation controller like the old ds4 had besides the shitty battery life was the shitty L2/R2 triggers. those triggers are just shit, and I saw dualsense having similar to not say the exact same trigger in that controller.

Its a literal physical lock. The whole thing about the PS5's triggers is that the developer can set resistance values dynamically in their game.

Interesting, but I doubt it will be used frequently, just like the motion control/touchpad in DS4.

Devs will use it a little during the first year of the gen, and then will drop it.

that's not going to end well. this will be this gen "mash the analog stick like a maniac in any direction until you break it" qte. I'm gonna stay away from deathloop.

I think this is the right context in which people deserve to be called boomers...Bunch of boomers complaining about a really cool feature in a game using a new feature in a console.

The functionality is neat, the gameplay mechanic is not.

Have you ever played a game where your gun jams? The most recent one I've played is a twin stick rogue-lite called "Synthetik". Every now and then your gun jams and you have to reload. This can happen right in the middle of something crazy happening and you could die obviously. It's not fun. In fact, something about it sucks because the developers have a toggle for gun jamming on or off.

It doesnt need to last an hour because youll break it well before that.

The more I hear about this controller the more I can tell this things about to cost 80 dollars and the console reaching 600 dollars

Dunno if I like Immersion to actually exacerbate the annoying reality of a gun jam? I like realism in my games, but I wouldn't like to play a DMV queue simulator even if it was in 4k 240fps!

I broke the trigger on a 3rd party Xbox controller (and a 2nd 3rd party is starting to squeak on me on my laptop) and a PS4 controller this gen from playing destiny. Some time squeezing harder makes you shoot better.

This all sounds great on paper. I'll be blown away if it works as intended and becomes integral to next gen gaming.

I HIGHLY doubt it, but I pray to the Sony gods that I'm wrong.

Reading this thread would make you think Gaffers have sub-par motor control. Exactly how hard do you squeeze your triggers? Unless the Dualsense's build quality is terrible this will not even be the slightest bit of an issue for me.

And why do people speculate people will try to squeeze as hard as possible if they feel the trigger is stuck? Do you really think the developers are not going to put a tutorial pop up that tells you that the trigger is going to stop when a gun is jammed and to not keep squeezing? If you continue squeezing at that point you are just a dumbass. Do not blame the devs or Sony for the incompetence of others.
Wow, preventing me from enjoying the game

So much innovation
Yeah, because pulling the trigger normally while the gun on screen does absolutely nothing sounds soooo fun, right?

Keihart Keihart was right. Straight boomer opinions ITT.

Live from NeoGAF, it's Friday Night!
I'll try it once, for the novelty, and turn it off. Not worth draining the battery.
Who told you it will drain the battery?

To me it sounds like a fascinating way to give feedback to the player. If implemented correctly!
