$505 games: If you want a "free" upgrade to XSX/PS5 version of Control, you have to rebuy Ultimate Edition.

UPDATE: 20. August

Nothing change obviously.

This is some major bullshit. First deal with Sony/EGS which locks you out of the content, then 3 months period for the 1st DLC on Xbox and now this.

This sucks major ass because game is virtually unplayable on base consoles. So if you support them day 1, then you get fuck all. 2k level bullshit.

There is a video on this by our very own Karak Karak so maybe drop a like there, because no one else from gamer™ media people does not report this!

With twitter thread, so little traction, maybe go there and post some shitty comment, that will teach them:

I knew it..
The much touted "smart delivery" would have bottlenecks
Obviously, but I cannot see how is this MS/Sony issue. It was always voluntariy. Neither of companies stated that it's mandated.

I honestly think that fancy name was necessary so Publishers/Devs would use it, because cross-buy is not a fancy name. I think that companies from now on is smart to use it, because then they secure way more preorder/sales Day 1 at full price. In this gaming drought, due to covid and all that shit it makes your game stand out. At least that's how I see it. Relaunching a game, I don't think it was ever successful as OG launch.

Not clear on why the sentiment is we should get something for nothing, but this is not the way to go about discussing their decision.

Control is a great game btw, worth every penny.
I am not sure what constitutes for nothing if you actually bought the game and support this project, besides performance issues on base consoles are fact, so at least they should do it because of that.

I am not saying that they should not sell the ultimate edition or anything like that, but not like this

Control is my favorite game of this gen, so it's personal.

The first of many.

Get ready.
2k was first.

It seems it would be eligible only for "new" versions of the games
This isnt a smart delivery problem lol. Phil always said its down to the devs whether they use it or not. They cant be forced to, well they probably could with money.

This game is on PSNow and Gamepass wonder if this played into their decision.
Then they should reward people who at least bought OG game + expansion pass, because that what Ultimate Edition is.

What happend with that?
Yeah I hope they at least fall back to that.

There was supposed to be a 60fps patch for PS4 Pro that was delayed, hunts only allowed you to do one at a time, disjointed story that was explained later through paid DLC episodes for no good reason, additional free content that was added at a later date way after the fact, the Royal Edition (which was released a couple years later) doesn't include all content, etc. Then there's the people on PC who bought the game with the premise it would include a mod tool... which SE scrapped in favor of more paid DLC.

Ohh that's weird. specially considering that they put "ultimate edition" on GamePass. But yeah, that some major bullshit for the fans.

We'll see if tech YouTubers discuss this . Sadly this company probably didn't make enough on this game and is taking this route for console gamers which is sad. Hope they at least revert this stance for game and dlc owners.

Im honestly torn. Not sure this was the best PR wise for them.

What does that have to do with Smart Delivery?
Well..Do you know what Smart delivery is ?
Its a way to buy a current gen ONCE and own it for next gen machines.
But what i see is that owning a game in not enough...Maybe we should own the NEW version (ultimate edition etc) of a game for the smart delivery to apply

But where in that faq does it say the game supports Smart Delivery?

To those of you who already own this game on console in some way:

This is what a company being anti-consumer looks like.
Agreed.
If you own normal version you should get normal version upgrade.
If you own deluxe version or season or whatever you should also get that upgrade.
That is how smart delivery should work.
For both MS and Sony.
Leaving it "up to developers" doesnt work. Especially MS should force them to make it more fair, since they are actively advertising it so much

The only way I'll ever play this game is if it comes to Game Pass and I can play it for free. With all the BS that went on and continues to go on with this game I will never give them a cent.

Just to play devil's advocate. I highly suspect the publisher felt burnt after the games bad steam and console sales. Being on Gamepass and PSNow most likely made it fall off even further. Not all games added to these subscription services actual help the game. This publisher is probably highly demotivated to give away what they think are "free copies".

I wonder if this game being an exclusive to a platform would have made this game successful.
