As shit as both line ups are I’m surprised more people not getting both. I mean if you going to waste your money upgrading for no reason why not go all the way.
I think for PS5 people are leaning towards Spider-man, Kena and Godfall those look really good to me. If I was getting a Xbox Series X this year I would probably get The Medium and Scorn

are they definitely day1?
if fact, which games are DAY 1 with 100% certainty on each console?
can we make a list?

also, Vampire Bloodlines 2 is no longer a 2020 release title

Ultimately I’m hoping for a realistic shooter, openworld ish style, jungle/forest, city setting with quality MP. Cyberpunk, next gen version might just do it.

I’m honestly most excited for third party titles like 2K, Watchdogs, Valhalla, and Cyberpunk. Although Cyberpunk might be a wait for the upgrade or true next gen version, we’ll see. Even still all of these games look great and like they play fantastic. I’m getting hyped for the known not the hoped for.

Yep I left Bloodlines out. These are confirmed for 2020 barring any delays
well if

Yakuza 7, The Medium, Scorn, Ascent and Gears Tactics are all out day 1,
those should be plenty until Cyberpunk releases two weeks later.

The only thing I'm afraid of is Cyberpunk slipping too.

hold on, what do you mean 2020??
we are talking about DAY 1 for each console.

Do we have such a list?

As it has been since the launch lineups started coming together, Series X and Gamepass is still the must have. Every game I want is on Gamepass. The PS5 really doesn't have anything I'm interested in yet.

Xbox for cross fire. Remedy games make some of the best single player games and I am interested in the MP. Don't care for open world superhero games, especially if it just DLC/Reskin. I will get PS5 for Demon Souls remake and Ratchet and clank.

Man remember the Dreamcast launch line up? What the fuck happend?
Yeah i remember 1 of the best launch lineup games but it didn't help the system sell much and Sega almost went bankrupt and now Sega no longer in the hardware game lol

How long will it take before this sinks in. Console sales and numbers are irrelevant to MS. You have a good PC? They already sold you a Windows 10 license, will be happy to sell you their games on PC where they will look and perform best, and if you want Gamepass, they will gladly sell you that too.

MS combing Xbox platform with PC TROUNCES the user base of PlayStation. The reason the old way of wanting to sell more boxes (at a loss or breaking even),was so you can sell software, that’s where they make their money.

Well MS now has a much larger install base (XB1, XB1X, XBSEX, possible Series S, and the millions of PC’s around the world). So MS doesn’t care if Playstation 5 outsells the series X 2 to 1. Because they trounce them overall with their multiple device totals, and their services are second to none. Live Gold, Gamepass, and soon to be a X cloud.

So Stan on, good warriors.

Edit: Great consumer practices like buy the game once play it on any of your devices, and cross play with their first party titles, greatly enhancing the community in each game is another great move. Haters can hate all they want, but Halo Infinite being cross play is going to be HUGE.
I don't see any console warring in my reply, just stating facts.
If they are not interested in selling their console, good for them, and good for me.
But did they actually say they don't care about selling consoles? I see this statement being thrown around a lot, yet microsoft is putting multiple consoles on the market.
The thread ( and many other threads), are speaking about which console would you choose, so the answer will always be the same, I never said I am not interested in microsoft games though, actually I like some of them, and I would buy an Xbox too if I couldn't play their games on PC.

Globally 20 million cases and 700k have died, just that. Sorry I couldn’t resist and if you could punch me I’d let you, lol!

Went to the GameStop (EB back then I think?) midnight release for the Dreamcast. Sonic, Ready to Rumble, NFL2k, and the crazy controller that was from the future... I was in heaven. Got Soul Calibur afterwards, it was a god like launch lineup.

All of those games will look and play better on xbox series x.

On paper they should, and some or even most probably will, but I’m sure it’ll be give and take across certain titles and not always so cut and dry. Im also not a tech or graphics whore so I don’t care about power. Also, I do care about Sony single player exclusives so I’m PS5 day one regardless of the weak launch lineups. I always buy consoles at launch, I love it and can’t help it even though there’s rarely great software.

True, PS5 does seem to focus more on SP games which is great. I am looking forward to Demon Souls (in my top 3 games of 7th generation), Ratchet and Clank, God of war , and possibly Nioh 3.

Yakuza 7 being there to make the XSX catalogue seem bigger makes me chuckle.

I’ll buy the biggest edition on Xbox to support the effort , plus I prefer the gamepad and just to get rid of the annoying save system On PlayStation.
I’ll take the regular on PS5 later (for the collection)

Not just the launch, but the first year for these new consoles. Xbox one had Titanfall, Forza Horizon 2, Sunset Overdrive, Ryse, Killer Instinct, Halo MCC, Dead Rising 3 and more. The launch window for the new consoles doesn't seem to be impressive at all. For xbox series, I am legitly only excited for Crossfire, Halo Infinite and maybe if we are lucky Hell blade for the first year. The list isn't too much different for me for the PS5 as well.

It’s not that they don’t care about selling consoles, it’s that consoles used to be the only indicator of install base, which meant more software sales.

MS doesn’t need to rely on one box for their install base base anymore, they trounced Playstation, the addition of PC to their console business solidified that.

As for your statements about MS selling “multiple console”, sure, that’s their entire message. Choices, play wherever you want.

To be honest they're both weak AF. I have a Ps4 Pro and One X and have 0 incentive to get a next gen system for a "new" experience. Spiderman isn't new, let's be real. Halo is delayed. GTA Online enhancement is 2021. Cyberpunk next gen upgade is 2021. Madden and NBA 2K playing their normal games showing no next gen footage. No word when next gen enhancements will be made for backwards compat games.

This next gen launch will be the roughest yet.

I think it's time to start wondering just why these systems are coming out this year. The game lineups are not great, and developers are struggling thanks to the flu. Lots of games/features are getting pushed back. The economy is also ruined, with millions unemployed and entire sectors getting taken out, again because of the flu. It's already August and we don't even have a price or release date on either, probably because of those issues.

Why not just push it back 6 months and launch in spring 2021? Do we really need a 4K Madden to simulate a season that probably won't be played anyway? Does MS really want to launch a brand new console with The Medium as the headline? Let's be realistic here.

Flight Simulator is the game I think looks amazing. I have bought every console since NES, even a few odd ones like virtual boy, dreamcast, sega cd. I had a PS4 pro half this gen but sold it for another xbox as my boys got into video games hitting that age.

So now instead of buying each console I have to pick two of the same. We were on xbox because of minecraft. I like xbox but they did me dirty this gen. No 1st part games period. Nothing on the horizon but lies. Halo once upon a time was awesome not anymore. The delay just shows nothings changed with xbox. New Fable game would be a system seller but today info leaks its just getting started or has not even started yet.

Games sell consoles. Consoles don't sell games.

I bought a Switch on release. I played Splatoon 2 for 3-4 months and it did not get touched for 2 years. My boys 5-7 now wanted nothing to do with Switch. Pokemon comes out and my kids fight over the Switch. Animal crossing comes out and my kids fight over it. Now I have 3x Switch's and Animal crossing games.

And xbox game pass is not for me. Its nice to get a month to play a game but having to pay it every month is expensive. And they are removing 12 month gold subs. I don't need to pay $10-$15 a month to play online for a console.

This online crap needs to stop. One of the biggest scams. It ruins owning every console. I would buy both if I didn't have to pay for online for the next 7 years on each. And now Nintendo got in on the scam. I refuse to pay online for 3 different consoles when I already pay a fortune for my internet. If Xbox, Sony, Nintendo want to charge for online then they should provide my online service so I can cut off Spectrum.

Spiderman Miles Morales
Assassin's Creed Valhalla
CyberPunk 2077 (I'm counting it)
NBA 2K21
Kena
Astrobot's Playroom (Packed into every PS5)
Watch Dogs: Legion
Death Loop

Those will keep me occupied for months!

PS5, excited for next-gen Spiderman MM and Kena and of course replaying TLOU2 and GoT. As for multiplats, I got a PC for that, X is pretty much redundant.

What time is it?
Spider Man is really the only exciting game on that list. I've already got Yakuza pre-ordered on PS4. I'm going to try really hard to stay away from EA, Activision and Ubisoft next generation so as much as I want to try Valhalla, that's going to be a no from me dog.

Where’s neither? xbox one and PS4 both had better launches than this and the only noteworthy games were resogun and dr3.

I guess ps5 because godfall sounds interesting? Without halo I have no interest in the SX

There are millions of whiny 5-year olds on Earth, and I AM THEIR KING.
XSX + Cyberpunk for me.

I am also picking up a PS5 whenever PES 2021 is available for it.

Seeing that puts it more in perspective and I’ll take scorn and medium plus all the better performing games on x over Spider-Man dlc

i never liked spider man, and most of the others are sport games for PS5.
Xbox has Yakuza 7 only for that I'd get it but. who said Yakuza 7 was coming exclusively to Xsex?

This is probably the best PlayStation launch Sony has had in decades, wow.

I suspect they have one more announcement for launch and that would be tlou2 factions stand alone. Not to mention timed cod content, gonna be great.

Any bets on which launch list has the higher metacritic average ?

“The only next-gen games confirmed to be 60 fps on console at launch (Holiday 2020) are :

✅Spider-Man: Miles Morales (PS5)
✅Godfall (PS5)
✅Deathloop (PS5)

The other 60/120 fps games are basically PS4 or Xbox One games (cross-gen titles)“

wow I didn’t know that. idc for Godfall but Deathloop will be dope so will Miles. I’d still be just as excited for them if they were 30fps as well

The two games that actually are coming out with both consoles, that I want, you havent listed..

Xbox - Stalker 2
PS5 - Stray.
Dude, I swear I thought Stray looked so freaking good. It's just the two of man! Stray was one of the best looking games at either show, hands down! That's a next gen game right there! The art direction is on point! Geometry is on point! Lighting, is that RT?!?! On point! Wait is that a Cat?!?! On point! Gameplay... no idea :messenger_tears_of_joy: but you play as a cat in a world run by robots!

I plan on getting both why limit yourself to one console if you can truly afford both and if this is honestly your hobby? The more games the better.

That's a shit list if that is true.

I'll just stick with my PC until the consoles have anything worthwhile. If I was forced to choose I guess I'd pick Xbox with how great it's been being able to jump back and forth between my PC and XboneX, but that list sure doesn't have anything that looks exciting.

It was certainly one that looked to have an intersting plot.

And Stalker 2? Well Stalker is one of my most played games on the PC, so thats a must.

I will choose... to wait. The only game interesting to me in that list is Yakuza 7 but I can wait to play it, have tons of games I want to play on the current gen (and in the previous ones). Will jump into the new consoles when something really interesting comes out. Last gen I was waiting until Bloodborne was launched for instance.

Disappointing launch titles for both platforms.

Thank god both consoles will deliver better performance while running cooler and quieter playing existing and cross-gen titles, otherwise both of them would be pointless to get them day since most of the titles will be available day 1 on PC
