i am afraid, with PS4 prices not dropping. A PC looks like better value than the playstation.
PC with RX570 = 400$, this does death stranding 60fps @1080p. 40fps @1440p.
PS4 Pro = 400$ does death stranding @30fps @1440p.
If you really want to sway consumers, drop console prices.

I was going to double dip and I usually never double. HZD was in my top 5 of this gen and I wanted go see a better version of it, and I own the PRO where it also looks gorgeous.

Lol MS is already down and out. When have they released a game that competes with what Sony has released even in the past 5 months....and then we will talk about the rest of the generation.

MS can be considered down and out when they officially bow of out the hardware business or at most sell 10-15 million in a console life cycle leading to the same result. Until then they're a threat with a lot of demographic overlap waiting to leverage any mistep by Sony (PS3).

It would be quite risky for Sony to open a store on PC, as the user base is married to Steam at this point and extremely resistant to any other icon on their desktops, and they'd devalue by a lot their console business in the process (Oh, hi Microsoft).

It's extremely risky. That's why you need monopoly like control on the console space first (as an absolute requirement) before you attempt something like this. Microsoft can not be in the console realm playing possum. And that store should not be like EA's Origins etc - failures. Only a fully fledged endevour like Epic's, with full third party support and better, with more thought on how to leverage ecosystem libraries etc. It will require a hefty investment on the store backend and years of work during a dominant console life cycle. Steam users don't break because of their massive libraries tied to their accounts.

Yeah this sounds like Sony is enticing the PC audience along with the rumor about timed exclusives being associated previously with Xbox releasing 1st on the PS5

I still don't believe PS will put their every game on PC, just a chosen few but either way, I play on consoles :)

They wont

If they invested in a port for HZD, the odds are very high that games after that will also be ported to PC. "When" doesn't matter tbh. It's more of a question of "will" it come to the PC or not.

Horizon zero dawn used GpGPU procedural generation of vegetation and scenery that was tuned for a common shared memory on Ps4. Death stranding did not do this,.

I wonder whether this caused issues having separate RAM and VRRAM - when sharing a function between the 2 pools.

Sometimes things on console CAN ACTUALLY be optimised for that console and could be diffcult to port - I can imagine something like Dreams as well.

Imagine what ps5 optimisations will be like.......mmm

But that’s what I’m saying, you just described a small part of the pc market. The ones who are like car enthusiasts. There’s no impressing these people with a console, there’s no convincing them. And again they are a small part of the PC market.

There’s almost no money to be made from them. But the majority of the PC market who is ridding 1060s and the likes? Maybe they upgrade to a PS5.
I hear what you're saying. I just don't see the ROE from Sony, if their endgame is *hoping* enough people like the game enough, they'll shell out $500 for a sequel. Sony's exclusives are tried and true, I won't down play them for sake of argument, but there are too many ways to play so many titles on PC. And that's ommitting pirating. With competition from Gamepass PC, xcloud, and steam...it just seems like relying on Epic is a gamble. I'd rather they truly partner up with Epic game store,(if they're married to that platform) and go balls to the walls to get that target audience. You only want to release older titles to give them a taste? Drop the UC collection, drop blood bourne, and then drop GOW 2018PC after a bad-ass GOW 2021 trailer. If the plan is as you say, to entice PC gamers to make a $500 purchase based older ports, then send out the best. And make em playable.
I actually like that the two juggernauts are going after the PC community, it's been a long time coming.

hey, do you like this shitty ass port of a bog-standard Ubisoft clone?

HOW ABOUT GETTING A 600 DOLLAR CONSOLE TO PLAY THE MOST LIKELY ALSO MEDIOCRE SEQUEL AT 30FPS?

yeah, great pitch lol

Like I said before, Sony shouldn’t bother to release its games on PC. Consoles are about the game not moving sliders and spending countless hours tweaking stuff to get 1 more FPS.

Thanks for proving you have no clue what you're talking about when it comes to PC gaming lmao.

Although someone with your level of intelligence probably would spend HOURS tweaking settings for ONE more fps, lol.

I genuinely don't understand people like you. Getting joy out of seeing people possibly be upset by something that doesn't impact you whatsoever is some straight up narcissistic shit.
You misunderstood my post. I'm a PC gamer 100%. I already know this port is a piece of shit. I'm looking forward to see other people rip it apart. That's it.

I think Sony would release games on pc strategically.

Like when next HUGE Naughty Dog title would be close to release, they would drop last of us ii on pc.

Might help with more people adapting PlayStation at best. At worst they would reap huge sales.

Nobody cares about "user reviews" though. There will always be a vocal minority angry on their keyboard, devs know pretty well it doesn't mean much. TLOU2 got destroyed in user reviews, it had zero effect on sales or pro reviews.
We're talking about Steam here. You can relay on these reviews more than on your parents. No fanboy bullshit on Steam.

Strange because myself and basically everyone who has watched any footage are gawking at it. Your opinion has nothing to do with it not coming to a Sony platform I assume? :messenger_blowing_kiss:

Maybe because I'm a former aircraft engineer and it all looks fake to me?
And I don't like simulation games. So, yep, I'm biased.

You do know that high odds means low probability? If not, now you do.

If they wanted to pull PC players to PS5 then they ported the wrong game. It should have been something decent at least.

I hope that they weren't actually trying to sell PC gamers a PS5 with HFW after releasing a mediocre port of HZD on PC.

Honestly, all HZD PC does is tell PC gamers that Sony is at least willing to bring their games to PC and that more games will likely follow making the purchase pointless. By the time the next PS4 exclusive reaches PC (most likely God of War) this whole thing will be over
