I was first indifferent to Godfall but after yesterday's demonstration it will be one of the first titles i buy when i get a PS5

It looks better. Ryse is a QTE fest and is fun for 10 minutes a session.

All I need for the first year is for most games to look better than most if not all games released this gen, and Godfall is arguably true to that so far.

What can they do beyond PBR and GI in the early stages of next gen?
i already said that he looks good, what you want me to say more? this game is gonna be raped without lube by the first proper nextgen titles and it's not even a discussion.

gow 2018 or ryse (to pick game with similar artstyle) don't look a generation away from this thing.

also animations are very current gen feeling.

Looks good, nice to see some in game video.

edit: it reminds me of Diablos final world, which btw was my least favourite.

Honestly the weakest defence, if all you've got to counter genuine criticism is "they must be fanboys of Xbox" then you have the critical thinking skills of a brick and I feel sorry for you. Hyperbole? Sure, but it would be nice to come here every once in a while and have genuine conversations and not just the same boring warring.

On the topic of the game itself, I echo the sentiment of others that I was actually more interested prior to seeing this. It is, for me personally, anti-Halo:Inf right now, in that I liked what I saw of the Halo gameplay but though it looked graphically rough; this is the complete opposite. Nice graphics, but the combat looked a bit jank and shallow as fuck. How anyone can look at that boss (or miniboss?) at the end and think that looks like fun gameplay is beyond me. And they claim they took inspiration from MHW? Please.

Fuck all weight to the hits, the same three or four basic-ass combos spammed for the whole demonstration, half the time it's a mob of three or four enemies literally standing around waiting to get hit next.

The concept of the game sounds great, melee-focused Destiny? Sign me up, but unless they can polish the animations and show a bit more depth to the combat I'm out.
the MHW inspiration is the strangest things i heard about this game when it was presented :ROFLMAO:

I‘d like to see that gameplay in 4k and 60fps... but I liked it more after SoP than I did before. Would definitely consider buying if it reviews well.

I've gone in reverse on this game. I thought it would be a day one purchase when I seen that first leaked gif, then the more I see off it the less I want to play it unfortunately.

Outriders on the other hand is the opposite. I was unsure about that game but now I think that'll be a day one purchase, looks pretty good. Reminds me off a more polished remnant from the ashes which was a great AA game.

For me.. it looks really linear, the levels don't look super interactive.. also, i feel the FOV might get a bit annoying... in games like this, excellent combat is key, and i didn't really see much stuff like counter attacks, dodges, etc.. equipping armour sets.. is it one whole set in one equip? It do you collect or craft them?

... I will stop short of saying this looks like a bad game.. but it looks like a type of game which i have played, and discarded, in the past.

Looks gorgeous, of course~

I was REALLY happy to see the game running @ 60fps as well. I don't think combat will be as tight as The Surge of games alike, but I don't think they went for a souls-like approach. Seems more "loose", a true hacker-slashy-looty-booty.

it will not have the slow pace i like in remnant but i see a lot of potential in outrider too.

Looked very decent in terms of visuals.

Saying that the enemy A.i did not look very good to me, the fight with the big dude sees it resetting itself with some sort of weird animation. It looked very bad to me or unpolished.

I need to see more aggressive not passive creatures, better quicker fighters to make a proper determination.

I almost feel they have shown us the starting area where you learn how to move, dodge attacks, and press x button four times to smash monster

Those red enemies they showed that walk at you look, mindless.

remnant combat looks better than this one tbh.

If only my penis was as big as my GamerScore!
It looked graphically unimpressive, but I came away feeling much better about the gameplay. Still don't trust Gearbox though.

Might need to stop sniffing glue
Google said for me:
"Godfall will be a timed-exclusive for PS5. This means Xbox Series X owners will have to wait awhile before they can play it. PC users, though, will get the game around the same time as PS5."
Source: https://www.essentiallysports.com/p...xclusive-game-sony-godfall-esports-news-2020/

Currently slated only for PS5 and PC(Through Epic Games Store) listed at the bottom of the page.

"...Godfall will be exclusive to the PS5 upon launch, with a separate PC release on the Epic Games Store. The exclusivity policy could be timed, in which case the game might land on Xbox Series X in the future, but as of right now, it will only be available on PC and the PS5 on launch...". So, speculation would be that it could also come to XBOX, but nothing stated as a fact that it will.

I came away much more interested (since I wasn't interested at all) but I am a little surprised that they don't put out some 4K footage. They keep showing it in questionable video quality. Even the 1080p/60 footage from the official PS channel looks muddy and low bitrate.

It gives off the same problem that the June PS5 showcase had where the live stream looked like PS4 games and you didn't get to see how amazing things looked until the raw 4K footage came out later. Except in this game's case, the raw 4K footage still has never come and all you get is the muddy and blocky last gen look at it.

Like other people have pointed out the graphics don't look that impressive, but to be fair the same can be said about all games we have seen so far for next gen (and also the remaining current gen multi platform titles) besides a few games shown at the Sony PS5 show.
Also it isn't fair after we have had the pleasure of seeing Red Dead Redemption 2 and The Last of Us Part II which looked too good to be true. The same happens every time Naughty Dog releases a game. PS4 games looked unimpressive after the first TLOU came out in 2013.

I am interested in this game though. It looks like a combination of God of War (and the big influence Dark Souls had on it) and looter games like Diablo. When we get to see further gameplay and more details about some systems in this game it might very well be a game I get on PS5 yeah. I am going in with an open mind and moderate expectations though.

Why? It looks bad and that's a fact.

The animations, the enemies, the level design, the art direction... it all just looks bland and soulless.

Saying that Godfall looks incredible its the equivalent of saying "Crackdown 3 looks hot" in the months leading up to it's launch.

No one said it looks "incredible". I said it looks polished (obviously considering it will be a launch game) and fun. Don't try to put words in other people's mouths in order to validate your opinion.

You know this game is a multiplatform game and also coming to Xbox, don't you? So maybe people just don't like what they saw.
Why would you need to be an Xbox fanboy if you dislike this game?
The game so far is PS5 and Epic store exclusive. There's nothing that indicates that it will come to XsX or Steam. Maybe in a year or two but who knows. These are both reasons for some people to unbury their war hatchets.
I'm not saying that everyone should like it,hell even i (as i said before) i was indiffirent to the game before yesterday's presentation.
But on the other hand i also see a lot of unjustified hatred and a lot of the criticisms are just generalizations ("looks more boring than sukishima","combat looks floaty","looks gamey and forgettable" etc)

Look at my above post regarding "genuine criticism".

On the topic of the game itself, I echo the sentiment of others that I was actually more interested prior to seeing this. And they claim they took inspiration from MHW? Please.

What was so wrong with that boss to the extend that it made you think "it's jank and shallow as fuck"? I'm not saying it's going to win any awards but you seem quite hyperbolic.

Fuck all weight to the hits, the same three or four basic-ass combos spammed for the whole demonstration, half the time it's a mob of three or four enemies literally standing around waiting to get hit next.

The poor AI is the only valid crticism i can agree with but lets not forget the game is still in development and these may be early mobs. Also they had so much to show i really doubt these were all the combos eacj weapon class had. Seems unfair to me to make criticisms of things we wish they had shown rather than the things they actually showed.

Also the weight of the hit animations feels fine to me depending on what weapon it's being used. This is one of the most common complains i hear a lot of people throwing it around and 9 out of 10 they are completely wrong. It reminds me when some people were saying the same crap for games like Nioh and Code Vein when both games actually had more than enough weight to their hit animations (obviously depending on what weapon was being used).

The concept of the game sounds great, melee-focused Destiny? Sign me up, but unless they can polish the animations and show a bit more depth to the combat I'm out.
Animations are fine to me the only thing they need to improve (based on what they have shown so far) is the AI IMO.

I think the graphics are pretty impressive considering it's not from a top developer and it's 4k60. Not a generational leap but imo definitely a step above most current gen games.

Gives me hope for what the PS5 can deliver at 4k60, which even the best graphics cards struggle with on current gen games.

Gameplay, graphics and animations look very polished (more than Mortal Shell for example),environments look interesting and all in all as someone who enjoys playing co-op in Souls games (after i first finish them on my own) this game looks like it will be super fun to be played with friends or solo.
Also a lot of respect to developers who said that EVERYTHING will be in the game DAY ONE and that there are ZERO microtransactions in a game (looter-slasher) that would have been a great opportunity for any other company/studio to fill it with that shit.

Any others got really excited for the game after yesterday's presentation?

Don't get me wrong, it looks really fun. But there is absolutely nothing mind blowingly special about it's might ps5 graphics. Gaf gave msoft so much shit and no one is saying a thing about all the ps5 capture lack luster footage from state of play. cracks me up.

back on topic. this will be day one for me as well. i really like what i saw gameplay wise and graphics were pretty OK.

Looks like more of my cup of tea than Avengers. This and Outriders. I'll try them both and see which hooks me more.

Game seems a bit bland (imo). Gameplay seems weightless and the art style is very meh.

This beign a feature makes me sad. It should be the standar, not something to praise.

True. I always forget about framerate on consoles. This is definitely a game that should go for 60fps (no idea if the developers said anything about framerate)

Looked pretty but the game really didn't look special. I was skeptical and now I will just wait to see how the game performs for a month before really considering getting it

I think Digital Foundry already confirmed it's 4k native at 60fps, in their analysis of the PS5 event.

The exclusivity policy could be timed
It definately is. Sony's first video said "console exclusive for a limited time". For me that's a 99,999999% confirmation, that it comes to Xbox. Of course the devs won't mention Xbox at this point. Just like The Medium. I'm 99,999999% sure it will come to PS5, but of course the website doesn't mention PS5 yet.

OK. I mean, .. I can't tell you you're wrong, and I'm definitely not disagreeing with you, however, I can't agree with you either. I only know that at this point, it's a PS5 / PC title. It wouldn't make much sense for it to not come to XBOX at some point, but, I don't want to state something as a fact that isn't one on my part.

Its okayish, mos def a gorgeous looking game but For me more like a filler picking up my PS5 day one, plus it all depends what kind of launch line-up Sony has in store for us.

At this point, CyberPunk has my full attention and the very first thing I'll grab it at the store..everything else, 2nd...yes sir!!!

thinks Halo Infinite is a new graphical benchmark
Taking the initiative to release a 3rd person action game is encouraging GAF shouldn’t worry about if it’s good God of War 2 will come

I've been around long enough to recognise this sort of sickness. It's called "launch day delusion":

I was first indifferent to <insert shitty launch game here> but after yesterday's demonstration it will be one of the first titles i buy when i get a <new overpriced launch console I need to justify the price I paid for it>

Genuinely no sarcasm here. I get caught up in this shit too. I love it. It's one of the best first world problems lol

It looks very generic to me in terms of the environments and gameplay. Walk forward, fight 3 dumb AI, do the same again. There just doesn't seem to be anything interesting in terms of transversal either. No hook for me. The fighting reminds me of something from the early 2000s but with a God of War shield ripoff.

Had zero interest before, have some interest after, mostly because it seems to be an actual game and not some "live service" garbage.

So, it's an actual game that looks alright overall. I'm a little interested.
