Gameplay, graphics and animations look very polished (more than Mortal Shell for example),environments look interesting and all in all as someone who enjoys playing co-op in Souls games (after i first finish them on my own) this game looks like it will be super fun to be played with friends or solo.
Also a lot of respect to developers who said that EVERYTHING will be in the game DAY ONE and that there are ZERO microtransactions in a game (looter-slasher) that would have been a great opportunity for any other company/studio to fill it with that shit.

Any others got really excited for the game after yesterday's presentation?

These loot games wear thin on me fast. Happened with Diablo 3 and Destiny so I'm sure it would happen with this. Have they said anything about a story campaign with cutscenes and NPC's?

The enemy AI and animations leave a lot to be desired, they look similar to something like D3, but doesn't hold up at the third person camera angle. Hopefully they can iron that out before launch.

Art style of the armors and weapons also look a bit "cram as much 3d detail in there as possible" without nessarcily taking into account clean and readable design. It's the same reason why the Judgement armor for Paladins in WoW still looks better than sets Blizzard made 10 years later; they became obsessed with pushing detail so much that they lost the design identity and the more resent armor designs just look busy and overwhealming with nowhere for the eye to rest.

I'm not quite sold on the game yet. It doesn't look bad but also doesn't stand out. Visually, it is very pretty, although I find the art style to be a bit dull and generic.

I think it boils down to how the combat feels and how good the loot system is. I hope they've nailed and would definitely give it a shot based on what they've shown so far.

I was also not fond of the art style at first but it's growing on me. I like the environments.

Quite the contrary for me. I was interested after the initial reveal but now I don't care about it.
What changed?

They got some of that Captain America shield action going on... looks crisp and good. Not sure what to make of the enemy Ai or Story yet...

It just looks dull and shallow for me. Also, I'm not a fan of the looks. Everything about it screams generic. I hope you'll have a good time playing it, though.
Yeah but all the things you mentioned were exactly the same in all the previous footage they had shown which you said it made you interested in the game. They didn't changed any of its looks.

Yeah I was under the impression that it was a multiplayer arena like game, which I hate. But this looks like a really fun SP experience as well! Great action and good God of War like shield moves and such :)

I'll won't be buying it right away, but definitely down the line.

I'm still completely indifferent. It's like they said "let's make a video game full of video game things" and applied absolutely zero creativity during the process. It just looks so completely forgettable.

Looks extremely boring. Weightless, floaty combat. Generic art direction that seems like Epic gave this studio the leftover assets from the canned Paragon game.

Game looks more like shit than it ever did. C-tier epic trash like Dauntless

Both this and Avengers look like horrible amateur hour trash. Not a shred of creativity

The next good co-op game is Outriders. Mark my words. Skip Epic and Square’s lowest common denominator gaming efforts.

Why? It looks bad and that's a fact.

The animations, the enemies, the level design, the art direction... it all just looks bland and soulless.

Saying that Godfall looks incredible its the equivalent of saying "Crackdown 3 looks hot" in the months leading up to it's launch.

I didn't think much of Godfall at first.... But seeing the gameplay yesterday definitely made me interested. I do hope the combat is better than what was displayed. Looked a bit too easy. But the game itself looks good!

Doesn't interest me, I don't like loot games. I don't care about collecting better armour, weapons.

Looks like a 3rd person destiny with swords, a tired setting that looks like every other high fantasy game that ever existed.

This is what the devs call new and different? lol A suit must have wrote the script for this video.

Another game where they're just going to throw generic missions at you to grind.

You know this game is a multiplatform game and also coming to Xbox, don't you? So maybe people just don't like what they saw.

Google search says PS5 and PC. No mention of XBOX. I agree with your overall sentiment though.

i think it still looks mediocre as hell except for the nice graphic (nice but not remotely nextgen).

enemies who fall dawn with the same precanned animations in a 2020 game who want you to feel powerfull while swinging your badass giant sword? yeah, no...

I was impressed by how much better the graphics were than the trailer from the PS5 event.

Gives me hope that these consoles will eventually produce great looking games at 4K60 if this is what a launch game from a mediocre developer can offer.

But the actual game, yeah that still looks pretty uninspired. Very generic, as others have said. But at this point in the next gen discovery process I'm really only interested in working out what the consoles are capable of, and from that point of view this was promising.

do not tempt fate do not contrain Wonder Woman's thighs do not do not
Im surprised they even gave this game so much time.
The overview made me much less interested in the game I doubt ill ever play it lest it comes free with the console.
I certainly wouldnt pay for this.

It looks so uninspired in almost every way:
Combat seemed super shallow and wasnt particularly well animated.
Enemies looked like trash....Ive already forgotten what they looked like.
Armors look like someones first foray into 3D Modeling
Remember HDR-Bloom for early last generation.....these guys drank that same coolaid everything is shiny or glowing.

This game reminds me of the GPU wars boxarts.
I can totally see this on corny GPUs of yesteryear

The gameplay looks nothing like Ryse.
It looks better. Ryse is a QTE fest and is fun for 10 minutes a session.

All I need for the first year is for most games to look better than most if not all games released this gen, and Godfall is arguably true to that so far.

What can they do beyond PBR and GI in the early stages of next gen?

I see the xbox fanboys have come in full force in this thread lol.
Honestly the weakest defence, if all you've got to counter genuine criticism is "they must be fanboys of Xbox" then you have the critical thinking skills of a brick and I feel sorry for you. Hyperbole? Sure, but it would be nice to come here every once in a while and have genuine conversations and not just the same boring warring.

On the topic of the game itself, I echo the sentiment of others that I was actually more interested prior to seeing this. It is, for me personally, anti-Halo:Inf right now, in that I liked what I saw of the Halo gameplay but though it looked graphically rough; this is the complete opposite. Nice graphics, but the combat looked a bit jank and shallow as fuck. How anyone can look at that boss (or miniboss?) at the end and think that looks like fun gameplay is beyond me. And they claim they took inspiration from MHW? Please.

Fuck all weight to the hits, the same three or four basic-ass combos spammed for the whole demonstration, half the time it's a mob of three or four enemies literally standing around waiting to get hit next.

The concept of the game sounds great, melee-focused Destiny? Sign me up, but unless they can polish the animations and show a bit more depth to the combat I'm out.

Sadly I came away with the opposing view. Graphically it's pretty good (nothing special in fairness) but the combat and animations really lacked polish. Attacks had no weight or variety outside of changing weapons entirely. U have 1 combo which is light attack x3 into heavy finisher with 2 skills and that was it?
This genre of game, looter slasher, I'm really into as a love looters but loath shooters and am a bit tired of brain dead combat in diablo .
But sadly after this video dont think its it for me .
Hope you enjoy OP !
