Meant as general releases...the post Jooxed made is perfect as far as Wii U titles go.

The news itself doesn't move me one way or the other. I'm just really hoping that some fool at Ninty hasn't convinced the higher ups that random tweets are "just as good" as Directs, and far more economical. That would be like arguing that Keighly's stretched out summer of announcements has been just as entertaining as a usual E3.

You want a certain critical mass of announcements to create a hype rollercoaster, and random tweets and mini-Directs aren't cutting it IMO.

I love me some Nintendo, but this is just gross. Imagine if Sony was re-releasing PS3 games regularly on the PS4 well into its fourth year on the market, all at full price, and acted like they were major releases. The fanboys would be fucking pissed.

Nintendo showing up to an empty release schedule with a seven-year old game is sad and annoying all at the same time. Pikmin 4 would have been infinitely preferable, or heck, even Pikmin HD/Remastered would have been great, since it's stuck in the 480p ghetto and could use a high definition treatment.

I always see this image as "Money I saved this generation because Nintendo was too lazy to make new games and just shat out the old ones again."

Not sure why Super Mario Maker, Splatoon, Mario Party 10, Super Smash Bros., and Mario Tennis are crossed out though since those received sequels and not ports.

I only ever got a few levels in when I played it on Wii U, which I no longer own, nice to have the option to go back to it.

For $60 on the Switch, you can go back to it on the Wii U for $20. BTW, you've always had the option to go back to it.

The difference being the ps3 didn't sell abysmally and these great games sold like shit and deserve to be played.

Is filling the Switch library with Wii U ports a continuation of Nintendo's pre-COVID strategy or a new post-COVID strategy? And how could we tell?

I think they are crossing off games like those because it doesn't make sense to port the original over if there is a sequel. Whereas.. even though we have Yoshis crafted world, you could still port over wooly world and play it and enjoy it. Where the new splatoon is a replacement for the old. That would be my guess.. idk this is not my image.

The controls were a god damned fucking nightmare, I remember having to lay the tablet controller on something, and switch between it and the Wiimote+chuck constantly. I don't remember why that was the way it was, but I remember all the SUPER HIGH reviews recommending that bullshit.

This is such shitty news, they'll sell this for full price too, despite it being VERY OLD.

We deserve Pikmin 4 by now Nintendo, I just fucking give up, my Switch is packed away gathering dust, this fixes nothing.
well, if you like losing the superior control method sure.

How to square these comments. Pikmin 3 was on my list to pick up for my WiiU. Now that this title is announced I guess I'll wait and see what the verdict is on new control methods.

Can you play the game with only the gamepad on WiiU? That might make the WiiU version something to collect.

You can, but if I recall the accuracy of throwing the pikmin with the tablet/gamepad was horrendous, I think the game required the tablet for something, if not required then it was a huge help to have it.

Nothing stopping you from buying a Wii U to play Wii U games, just like there ain't anything stopping you from buying a PS3 to play PS3 games.

Could they remaster Pikmin 1? I freaking love that game.

Can't say much about Pikmin 3. I heard it was a hype at the start but then suddenly people got very silent. Gonna presume it wasn't that good, so people got quiet for the sake of it.

It’s great. Nintendo is making my Wii U obsolete.

If you already own these games, why would you buy them a second time?

well, if you like losing the superior control method sure.

Bingo. I used to play my Wii U at a desk back in 2013 and propping up the gamepad on the kickstand and using it as a minimap while controlling the game with the Wii Remote & Nunchuck was sublime.

It's the Resident Evil 4 Wii Edition problem all over again. No matter how much better they make the game look on modern platforms, the best gameplay experience is with the Wii Remote & Nunchuck.

If Nintendo figures out back compat like Sony/Microsoft going forward then I am totally ok with $60 ports. If not...well I have a lot of digital games that will be worthless.

Remember when folks thought that Wii U-purchased Virtual Console games would carry over to the Switch? Good times.

How many full priced wiiu ports are there on the switch?

At least ten first party releases, judging by the image posted in this thread.

It's a great game, but it controlled great with the gamepad, and there's not enough content for me to buy this new version.

Where is Pikmin 4?

A lot of those, I don't think many want. Xenoblade X and NES Remix would be good too though.

Yeah, I think Xenoblade X and Windwaker would be the only ones I would probably want to play .. maybe 3d world.

Nintendo apparently delisted it from the Wii U eShop. They must not want you to buy it at 1/3 of the price.

That's some scummy bullshit, goddamn.

Holy shit, clicking the link on the Nintendo Selects page just spits out an error message.

At least you can still buy it from retailers for the time being. Who knows how long that'll last though.

I remember hearing people say it played best with wiimote+nunchuk, which is also how I was playing it.

I got distracted at the time and didn't get very far into it, I guess I may as well buy it on a console that I actually keep hooked up.
Though it's a little clunky at first, I preferred to play it with the Wii Remote+Nunchuck in hand, and the GamePad in front of me. This way you're mostly using pointer controls with the remote except when multitasking, you'd pick up the tablet and plot paths for all of your captains.

A lot of people complained about the clunkiness of this and didn't enjoy it, but IMO it's one of the only games that truly justifies the tablet controller in a meaningful way that isn't just adding a map/inventory to your second screen, I felt it made the game a better experience but I may be in the minority there.

FFS.

Why did I even bother sticking with Nintendo during the Wii U?

Is the next Switch just gonna be a load of ports for those who missed the Switch?

It's getting boring now.

Agreed.

You’d also think that increasing performance would be standard for remasters, but Ubisoft and especially Nintendo are the worst offenders on that front.

As much as I want to give Nintendo credit for making most of their games target 60fps to begin with, it still blows my mind that they released Twilight Princess and Wind Waker, two GameCube games, on Wii U as full price, 30fps remasters.

Fingers crossed they don’t make the same mistake for the rumored Mario Sunshine remaster.

An amazing game from an amazing console that very few people bought/played. Not sure why there are so many salty folks here. Glad to see the game get a second chance at life.

The game is absolutely phenomenal and would be a must buy if it was decently priced. 60 bucks is retarded for a 2013 game.

Why do you think Nintendo delisted the game when there can't be that many Wii U owners who haven't played it yet? I 'm salty about that for sure.

I own this game but never played it. Got it free but don't remember how. Some sort of promotion.

I also remember giving away a second copy too. My memory is fuzzy on it.
