BioWare Provides Update On Anthem Rework

I honestly believe that Anthem could have been amazing if they would have stuck to 1 ideology. I could tell from the beta -> retail that they had a lot of conflicting ideas...like removing the pilot skills and things of that nature. I also believe the game came out long before it was supposed to.

Flying around in anthem was amazing and the combat was pretty damn good. I’m not a story kind of guy so maybe that’s what people hated about it? The loot did suck in it though.

If they want to relaunch anthem make it next gen console exclusive and provide an upgrade path to the people that bought it. The current gen just cannot handle ambitious ideas and concepts .
What is things this game does not have?

I tried the beta, lasted maybe 30 minutes. It felt like pre alpha.

I then kept up with the news and watched streams but nothing seemed to changed. It was never anything like that original trailer.

Unless they pull off a miracle like Square did with FF14, ain't no one buying this. Sell it to one of those companies that focus on free to play or something.

I keep thinking this. Who exactly is this for? I personally will never touch this. Do they expect some sort of resurgence?
They probably want to be able to say they didn't just drop the project and tried to correct it. No one thinks this will lead anywhere.

Once I saw a new copy of Anthem for about $3 and I still didn't buy it.

RIP Bioware 1995-2010.

Shouldn't No Man's Sky give all these naysayers cause for optimism?

Well i guess even if it did they would reject it regardless~

Stopped reading when "loot" was mentioned.

Replaying the Mass Effect trilogy now because no trace of remasters, just started the second game. Now that's the Bioware I want to remember.

You tried, you failed, you're not really serious about it like Square Enix was with FF14, learn from it and move on.

I respect them trying to fix it. Not convinced on that budget system, the Division 2 spent a lot of time on budgeted loot and rolled it all back. They'll need a relaunch/rebrand, it will be interesting to see if this can recover. They will have a job when Hyper Scape drops, F2P Halo drops, Destiny: BL drops and then Godfall drops. I'd look to relaunch next summer/fall and get everything else sorted in the meantime.

I enjoyed the flying and gunplay, they just needed to build a better game around it. Hopefully they will be able to get it done this time.

Will they let us upgrade weapons so that legendary drops don't get left behind?

If they managed to make this game more appealing and interesting to play than I might pick it up.

I do think this game has potential, but it needs a lot of work, so I wish them best of luck. I do find it impressive that this game hasn't been ditched yet.

How many times did I just read "loot"? Was this people's number 1 complaint about it? I remember hearing that the game was just clunky and dull.

I think it needs a full rework (realm reborn) or Bioware should just eat it and move on. Hard to believe EA would fork over more cash to them for a rework or new project at this point though.

Good on them for trying. I agree with the general sentiment of too little too late (speaking euphemistically here), but hey I bought the game for like 8 bucks a few months ago and I had my fun. The flaws are numerous and obvious, but if they can build on the fine core gameplay then I’ll give the game a second chance. Why not?

You know when a game is that bad when it puts basic things that should be in the game since the begining and make them sound like new, using pretty words like "exciting".

i had my fun with anthem (mostly because playing with friend is always fun) so if they can fix all the problem i can't wait to give the game a second chance.

What a colossal waste of time. Just move on. Nobody wants this shit.

agreed. they gave us a misleading vision of the game. it released and it left a bad note. no matter what they do gamers will still remember the game was trash. move on

Anthem is the Space Force of videogames - a bunch of creative types let their prior successes go to their heads and forgot that a cool/funny idea is no substitute for a full fledged quality product.

Alot of people already own the game tho. Especially as its now so cheap. The flying is great as is the weight of your character. There is work to be done but potential is still there. I remember world in flames being as messy as this on launch.

Why would I want to relive tremendous disappointment? Replaying ME1&2 is like going to a funeral at this point.

Tbh, I never could understand the allure of Mass Effect in the first place.

Its story isn't particularly good, its more like "baby's first sci-fi" but everyone seems to rave about it, especially with how much it cribs from Star Trek.

It's too late. It's clear they had zero content ready for launch and now are just a skeleton crew of a few folks that undoubtedly hate their job.

Is it worth dipping back into Anthem now, or should I wait for the rework? I haven’t played in a few months. It’s ok for mindless fun.

I am willing to give them a second chance because the gameplay of Anthem was good

The flying mechanics were spot on too! I will give this game a second chance if they delivered

Wait. There isn't any content right now to even play

After the main story line theres nothing to do

Gee, people like loot in their loot ARPGs?

What an absolutely incredible discovery in the year 2020!

Having a actual plan for making Anthem would really have saved Bioware a lot of effort, trouble and further bad PR.

They had the screwups of Destiny, Destiny 2, Diablo 3, and The Division to learn from.

And it seems they did not learn a single thing.

Maybe this is one step towards correcting that. Maybe.
No they did not “have those screw ups to learn from”. Seeing another team fail is worlds apart from failing yourself. The learning experience is very different.

I am happy they are going to improve the game. They have something special that could be great with enough polish.

EA Shut down MMO's like Warhammer online that had people paying monthly to keep it going, I can online imagine how this is going over in the board rooms.

Probably the need to renew the license was what killed the WH MMO.

World's apart is no excuse for not taking any of the lessons from the launch of those gigantic industry affecting games into account, especially for the company that made Baldur's Gate 2, Kotor, Jade Empire, Mass Effect 1/2 and Dragon Age Origins.

That aside I am curious with how much Bioware is going to be overhauling. Will it be gradual No Man's SKy like updates, or a gigantic Final Fantasy 14 reboot?
