Ramos with 11 league goals this season is the best total of any defender in LaLiga in the 21st century. Ramos has reached another milestone - 100 club goals (Real Madrid 97, Sevilla 3).

Dani Ceballos exclusive: Midfielder open to Arsenal stay after finding his place under Mikel Arteta

Pay up 50M + variables :messenger_sunglasses:

Can't believe I sat and suffered through 100+ minutes of that United v Chelsea game. What an embarrassing performance from United. Won £60 betting against my boys though, so happy with that.

What's the old Route 1 Tactics? :pie_thinking:

You are already ahead in the scoreline and there's no Ramos :messenger_dizzy:

Boot the ball far up and hope it gets behind the defenders

English Football when Mud was a thing on the Pitches.

Oh yeah! I think Real have it in the bag if we choose to ignore what happened with City in the FA Cup.

Do you want Pogba to renew?

Manchester City just focused on the UCL AND won the first leg, it is completely wrong to say Real Madrid have anything in the bag especially that we need to score at least 2 goals AND win the match, Manchester City remain the favorite to advance at this point.
AND Ramos is not available :messenger_weary:

Nah, you never gave a shit about him. Now you want money for him?

tenor.gif

We made sure he get play time and develop since we have no spot for him in the first squad (this is why he is loaned to Arsenal) and if he was to come back we would searched for a good club for him to loan to and get more play time, saying we don't care is factually incorrect mate :pie_thinking:

If you don't pay up guess he goes somewhere else and you need to find some unproven replacement :messenger_sunglasses:

Stop being cheap and pay up :messenger_beaming:

Our president is too nice sadly and will sell him for cheap most likely if Dani want to stay at Arsenal and Arsenal want him

Thanks for the welcome! I was wondering whether GAF had a proper football chat!

As for the Pogba conundrum... I would, but not if it keeps us from strengthening in other areas. It's becoming painfully obvious that our depth isn't anywhere near good enough to be competitive in a meaningful sense. That Chelsea game was a good showcase for that.

I'd be happy with a RW, backup for Bruno and a quality centre back, then I do think we can start to challenge on all fronts.

This is the thread for proper football chat, I hope it get more traction :messenger_sunglasses:

I don't think renewing Pogba contract will hold you back from getting reinforcements but I think if Manchester United end up missing on European football completely then you would be in trouble attracting high quality players. I think Pogba himself is waiting to see you qualify or not before making a final decision.

Real have been on a streak lately and will be focusing directly on this match to turn it around.

I have sadly seen City lose a winning position many times to say that they usually rest on their laurels, like with Monaco and Tottenham.

Also remember that we don't have Aguero to rely on either, so it could be a close game if Real get 2-0 and we leave it until the final minutes. :(

Not saying that Real have it in the bag by the way, just that they have just a much of a chance to turn it around than City holding onto the lead.

I think a failure to secure Champions League stops us from getting a Sancho deal over the line too. Hoping that we can smash West Ham on Wednesday and have it in our hands come the last day of the season.

It has been good to see that Pogba seems a bit more settled and happy since we bought in Bruno (who has been a fucking revelation!) More signings like that please, Ole.

You are in the driver seat mate so when the match start you actually don't need to do anything, we are the ones that need to chase the game and go forward which leave less support for our defense (which is missing Ramos) while you don't need to score anything but if you get a chance to exploit any counter attack opportunities. This is why I think us missing Ramos is more significant. And also remember we have been suffering in our attack our entire season so scoring two goals is very hard to do and not likely to happen.

I do hope that we can do it but being realistic after losing the first leg at home and Ramos getting a red card we are lost likely to get knocked out than to advance.

West ham should not be a problem to Manchester United so you have a good chance.
Yes it appear that Pogba is more happy lately :messenger_beaming:
More signing like that Ole? well Ed is on it :pie_thinking:

If United can handle their business against West Ham, they nearly have the CL in the bag--Leicester have been God-awful recently and they are hit so hard by injuries and suspension (Soyuncu Chilwell and Maddison will all be out for the rest of the season).

Then again, it has been a trademark of this United team to bottle it when the situation's going well. Fingers crossed.

After that Chelsea performance and West Ham having some sort of shit-hot streak, I'm genuinely worried about Wednesday. Think Antonio might make mincemeat of Maguire and Lindelof 😓

Most worried about de Gea honestly, as well as Bruno Fernandes being overworked. They need another creative outlet. I guess that's why they're so highly-rumored for Sancho.

I agree that we are in a better position, but Real do have the history of turning the tide in European Games over Man City (I mean...our fans don't even try and cheer their team on when we are losing!)

Although Ramos is certainly a massive blow (and I do sympathise with you on this one), I do think you have the mental edge over us, but of course I do hope my Team overcome Real at our Ground. (just to show there is no misunderstanding that I am hoping my team to lose.)

It will be a good game regardless!

We lost to a team that wanted it more. Simple as that. The main worrying thing though was that the rotated players didn't seem to want a spot in the starting eleven at all. Just another reminder that we still need some time to sort the mentality of this team out. Xhaka said it best post-match

Gotta win against Watford to get some momentum for the final.

We will see how it goes. Our side of the UCL draw though is completely stacked and will be hard to for anyone anyway :messenger_grimmacing_

I don't think the result against Watford matter.

Big game for United tonight. Can’t believe I’m playing around in the dirt - hoping for a UCL spot. And that it’s an upgrade on previous years if we get it. West Ham actually playing pretty good lately, but will be a big mistake if Solskjaer sets up defensively Imo. Let the team play.

West Ham is safe from relegation and have nothing to play for, so no worries for Manchester United.

Whew what a great game earlier. Chelsea has a very potent offensive game, but that defense is atrocious. I have no idea how they overpayed that much for a piece of shit keeper like Kepa, but geez. Atrocious defense all around, they need to fix it fast because Werner, Abraham and Pulisic could be the next big 3 on offense.

After seeing Pulisic develop, I'm genuinely excited for 2022, and not just because of the normal WC excitement. I can't wait to see what he can do on the biggest stage for the US. He's got a truly special quality. I sure hope everything goes according to plan and we have a 2022 cup. Who knows though.

I hope to see Juve today clinching the 9th Scudetto in a row, and it would totally make my day to see United missing out on the CL. :p

Fifa really outdid themselves with the shit plan for 2022, so it's truly up in the air if it will happen. If the USMNT puts a decent team around him, he could lead them to something special. Dude's different. Maybe it's the Chelsea shirt, but I saw Hazard yesterday. He might have ended poor Joe Gomez career.

Fuck me, I'm so fucking nervous for Sunday's game against Leicester (we need a draw or a win if Chelsea win, or a loss if they lose as well, to qualify for next season's CL). I've been an United fan for almost 15 years and I always hate when we get into awkward spots like these, especially after SAF.

Fortunately we don't need a huge result, but fucking hell, without Shaw and with everyone looking knackered as fuck we've been looking very bad for the last couple of games.

Bruno is looking especially wiped. He's played an insane amount of minutes since the restart.

I agree. It's why I'm not fully convinced on Ole yet, he keeps trying the same thing every game no matter who we play against where he plays from the back until it reaches Bruno and play overlaps. He's fucking knackered as a result, obviously, considering how often we're playing ATM. Maybe we don't have one of the best benches, but Fred and Scott did a great job on the first half on the season when we played with a different gameplan and now they're just rotting there without seeing much action.

Ironically, what I think may work best on Sunday is to stick to our current plan and play like that. Leicester have no other option but to come out and play, and with them missing so many key players we'd have a great chance against them if our players weren't dead men walking currently. I really haven't been so nervous about an United game in years.

I'm glad that Solskjaer has found a first team that was working well. It's been a long time since the team has had a regular starting XI that you could confidently predict. But it's been run into the ground by this schedule. Obviously everyone else has been playing at a similar pace so it's not really an excuse but it shows the lack of depth outside of that starting lineup. Once you go outside it the team looks a lot more shaky.

Yeah man it’s flashbacks to a year ago. If I had to mark Ole down for one thing it would be lack of rotation. He will run players into the ground and I kinda feel that has happened here. Either that or we came back fitter than anybody else and now everybody else has caught up and we look shit again with this being our real level. Last 6 years we are more likely to fuck it up than actually hit the mark, so yeah I agree. Gonna be a nervous watch.

That's good and all, but you can't expect to play the same way against everyone and they never find out how to counter you/your players don't get fatigued. You could also argue that this shows that we don't really have any quality options on the bench and this is Ole telling everyone else to step up or get the fuck out, but I don't know. We very well could've played a B-team against Chelsea to rest Bruno, Rashy and the others, but we didn't and now we're paying the price.

To be fair, when that plan clicks we play dangerously well. That trio of Martial, Rashy, and Greenwood is very hard to mark down, hell, Greenwood has had two or sometimes three defenders on him whenever he goes close to the box to exactly prevent one of his brilliant moments from occurring (one of which thankfully still happened with his wonderful goal against West Ham, even though he was getting marked all game). We need Sancho, yes, but we need to trust Ighalo & James as well, and we need to have a solid plan B for when we start noticing that we can't beat the pressure off or that we're getting overrun on midfield, which has been happening a lot lately. Playing the overlap looks nice and fits our players nicely, but it's not always going to be the best option. That's why getting quality players like Sancho & a good ball playing CB to compete with our current starters is going to be key this summer. But then again, we need to qualify for the CL to attract those sorts of top players, so yeah... let's hope we don't die of a heart attack while watching the game this Sunday.

Leicester certainly know all about over-achieving. I hope they get in and boot United. Although Wolves could certainly surprise Chelsea anyway. Will be exciting to see how it plays out. I'd rather see Chelsea/Leicester combo go through.

It al depends on de Gea & Shaw, really. If Shaw is fit again and god mode de Gea decides to show up tomorrow, Leicester are as good as dead.
