Glad I didn't pre-order. Thought we had a few more weeks to go before my first daughter would be born, but looks like the wife will be induced tomorrow night, so I wouldn't have had the time to play it anyways. Enough can't be said about the graphics though, The Decima engine is truly a stunning piece of tech.

Looks downgraded from what they've shown before. Going to pick it up either way since I didn't complete my run on my PRO since RDR2 was taking up my time.

So I bought Death Stranding day one but had a lot of shit going on in life and never got more than maybe 4 hours into it and I could always go back to it on PS4. But now I a top of the line PC that would definitely give me ultra quality for this game I almost want to buy it for the visual beauty. Probably wait till I can get it for 20 on PC

If you like sci Fi movies , yeah buy it. The story and cut scenes are worth the price. The gameplay is very very basic though but the ride make up for it IMO

I'm gonna buy this. You don't hesitate with a Kojima game when it comes to your platform. I'm sure I'll disagree with the naysayers. Looking forward to doing a LTTP perhaps..

So, what are the chances that a mod will make this bearable?

I like Kojima's storytelling a lot, but every single piece of "gameplay" I've seen massively puts me off. If it was a 15 hours experience, maybe, but when people tell me it takes 40-60 hours, it's just not gonna happen. Life's too short.

I bought a sex doll, but I keep it inflated 100% of the time and use it like a regular wife
I'm doubting to get this or not.

I haven't seen anything of the game, as I love to go in blind, but the bad critiques of some users make me doubt.

Without spoilers... what didn't you like about the game? Boring loop maybe?

Took me 80.

You're right though - Death Stranding is a mountain of a game. It's not something you go into if you've got a lot of other things in your backlog. We can ask why so many games are like this nowadays but I at least think this one's worth it.

It's totally shaggy though. Really self-indulgent. You either like that or you hate it.

So is this game worth paying full price for?
nope.

i paid £25 (down from £55) for it and feel it was too much. i'm struggling after about 5 hours. it really is a walking simulator and i hate using that phrase. walk from one city to this building then back again. now walk to this place and back. now you need to walk from the US east coast to west (no joke) but you need to walk back and forth between locations. it feels like 1 step forward and 2, 3 or 4 steps backwards.

i hear you unlock motorbikes so i'm gonna try get that far and see if it makes it bit better. the movement of the character is ridiculous...it's fine when he isn't carrying much but even well before you reach your limit he's falling about all the time. you better watch you don't fall because you'll lose items and need to backtrack. if you fall in a river then good luck.

the story is interesting and bizarre but you need to do a lot of reading logs/emails/interviews and even then it's still WTF. apparently a large part of the game it's focused heavily on just gameplay (building structures etc) and doesn't progress story much until the end where it just dumps a shit load on you. the usual kojima crap.

I liked that the game feels like pushing a boulder up a hill. Constantly.

It's quite an anti-game in that respect and a bit more life-like. Sam isn't an imperious hero, chocked full of strength and speed a la Drake or Lara or Kratos. He's an everyman going through shit and you kind of pick up his story, which often feels gruelling and relentless.

I think it's a great experience but definitely not for people who want instant gratification.

Yep. Got it for 40, but it's what it should have been on steam as well at launch, if not 30. This is not AAA game, to put it mildly.
It is a triple A game alright, the production values are pretty high.

It's just not a great triple A game, at least for me.

Seems like a cozy experience with the typical great but over the story of Kojima games.

May try it. Thanks!

I love kojima stories (usually) and hard to believe but the gameplay on this game is far better than the story.

I started the game thinking that the cutscenes were the carrot...it was the opposite, story is a stick in the ass for the most part.

that's how i'm feeling. the story is what is keeping me going. the gameplay was interesting at first but the amount of walking is really putting me off now. it wasn't too bad until it told me i need to walk all the way back to where i started. if i'm going back then i better get a motorbike cause i ain't doing any more walking.

edit: holy crap...apparently i can use them now! well this makes the trek back more bearable i guess. i had reach the part you can create a generator which is used to charge them. cool.

I'll wait for the helicopter mod then, maybe.

I understand that some media is meant to feel like a total slog and you aren't necessarily supposed to enjoy it. I get it, I've read American Psycho. 40-80 hours of walking around for the prospect of a below-average Kojima story does not excite me in the least.

The game is not nearly 80 hours.

I completed the game in 40 hours doing everything on foot, no cars or bike because they control like utter shit and no constructions or streets or anything that can speed my progress.
If you play smart the story is not more long than 20-25 hours tops.

80 hours is for people who lost themself doing multyplayer stuff.

I'm literally saying the opposite, story and charas were trash and i only "enjoyed" the gameplay loop and the sense of progression with all the gadgets...

let me quote you:

"I started the game thinking that the cutscenes were the carrot..."

that is why i said the story is what kept me going because the gameplay wasn't enjoyable anymore.

maybe i'll start enjoying the gameplay a bit more.

Heads up. Only 4 hours left till smooth and not blurry version is out. 👍
It’s 4K on PS4 pro and razor sharp with amazing detail. Granted checkerboard, but you need a microscope to realise it. Pc 60fps and ultra wide will definitely make a incredible looking game even better.

I said that because before starting the game, i was not amused by the idea of being a fucking ups guy and i was looking forward to the story because i usually like kojima stories.

But then the story was subpar and the gameplay had a nice loop so i switched both things, the gameplay is the carrot and the story was the stick.

English is not my native language but i'm pretty sure that the carrot is the good part and the stick is the bad part, am i wrong?!

If you enjoy the zen of real life open spaces and conquer the outdoors you’ll like it. The way I see it, it’s for people that much prefer FarCry 2 over any version since. Also if you prefer the slow burn of moody sci fi over action bombast. It’s all about mood and immersion.

Best game I’ve played in years, and I get Call of Duty each year, so I’m not some weirdo indy Fetishist.

Approach it like a strategy game and you'll have a good time. I suspect it'll appeal to a load of PC gamers for that reason.

Only if you're standing still. Once you start playing the game everything goes blur vision, but that's 30fps for you.

One thing to consider on Pc is need for a controller. The movement is directly tied to the analog stick pressure and the triggers are directly mapped to gripping with left and right hand. Can’t imagine this being decent on kb/mouse

Oh finished it on pro long ago, but 60fps+ is just too good to ignore. You should try PC version so you'll see what i mean.
I’m a huge proponent of 60. But the pace of this game and long vistas make it one of the least 60fps sensitive games all gen. But I’m hopeful for a PS5 patch nevertheless.
