Do I qualify for 'PC Master Face' if my pc specs are lower than console's?

So GAF, I was wondering if I could proudly attach the coveted tag 'PC Master Race', if my PC specs read like

Ryzen 5, GTX 1660ti, 8 gb ram etc. (Laptop actually).

I am not talking about next gen systems either. Comparing to current gen 'enhanced consoles'.

The thing is if I can't, it basically means we have far fewer no of members of this race than previously thought. Steam hardware survey suggests less than 10% of pc gaming population.

What do we call rest of 90%? PC peasants? Sounds dumb.

Also not to mention, when next gen arrives even, hardcore members of this race will be stripped of the previledge. If Nvidia fails to launch GTX 3080 in timely fashion or if you got a bit late in upgrading.

So you will be changing from 'PC Master Race' to 'PC Peasants' to 'PC Master Race' again. How dumb is that? You will have your race changed depending on market conditions. I think gamers didn't think this through.

Help me solve this paradox GAF.

Consoles are making decisions to me more PC like every generation (SSD, web browsers etc.) you might be a PC elite gamer.

I feel like what is sold as PC MASTER RACE is more of a mindset. The cheaper games, the freedom to upgrade your system, indie markets etc.

if you take anything else around that term seriously, then you're probably part of the real "master race" :>

What if I told you you could quite comfortably emulate games made for consoles, including one that begins with S and uses something called a Joycon (no, me neither, sounds like something an lefty hipster would use to brush their teeth with).

Wield your e-peen privilege like the Master-Baiter you are, my son.

Im also a PC peasant. My GPU is crap compared to many here, but its more powerful than my PS4PRO. Anything I play is 1080P.

Ill be doing another build within a year but I like gaming and dont need the tag of PCMR or peasant.

We will let this post slide but you are now part of the PC Master Race. Start acting like it.

I'm not sure why you would ever want to associate yourself with that term, but PC is PC. Doesn't matter if you have a 650ti or a 2080ti you can still find a way to play most games.

That I bought one of those stupid PCMR Model D mice, and it's fucking fantastic since the branding makes me want to off myself

As many have said, PCMR is not about the PC specs. If you like playing on PC (even emulated games on a laptop) you could be considered a part of PCMR. It's about the community.

Just the same as if console gamers are still considered console gamers even if they play on a PS2.

PC has a lot of strengths but also many weaknesses as a platform...

It really depends what you're looking for, do you want more customization but also to spend a lot more on hardware then PC is a good fit.

However it offers poorer performance per dollar, less optimization and less guaranteed support over time than consoles.
The PC model cannot use economies of scale and cannot be subsidized by a manufacturer due to making profits back on software or services...... therefore you are paying each manufacturer of each component a premium.

Also in the way Nintendo has cut out an identity for themselves with more kid friendly or family games, so too has PlayStation with more mature and artistic content, usually in the action-adventure genre.
Nintendo and Sony both have their own kind of culture. Even Xbox is starting to develop it's identity around subscriptions and service type gaming.

PC doesn't really have that, it doesn't have a set identity or culture, it can't really market itself or change direction quickly because nobody is managing it. So if it begins to fail or gets manipulated in a negative direction, there is no real corrective measures beyond the entire audience coordinating to counter whatever happens at industry level and that is hard to do....

So, I don't think it deserves the master-race term. It's just personal preference at the end of the day.

You're obviously a console infiltrator who thought he could start this thread and strike some kind of blow in the great platform war of 2020. Nice try, potato farmer.

Nah. You get what you pay for. Nice spin though.

It's about the choice and option. Does not have to be about graphics but can be. Does not have to be about certain games or options like not having to pay to play online or control input methods but can be. PC gaming or 'master race' is about enjoying it the way -you- want to because it is your choice with the many options available which is the nature of playing games on a PC. Your system is yours and is specific to what you want out of it.

PC Peasant is about not understanding that. If you insult a PC Player because they only want to play classic PC games on a modest PC or laptop then you are a PC Peasant because you are denouncing their choice to enjoy the tailor to yourself experience of playing games on a PC.

True PC "master race" or maybe let us say "gaming master race" (Cannot think of another word, english is only second language) is not even consorting in odd tier type things like that. PC Peasants-Console Peasants-Company/Brand Fanboys are best left to fester on their own while you enjoy video games. Time spent arguing or pushing a platform is time that could be spent enjoying the hobbies or other things that aren't childish. Immature children argue about things like that.

With this spoken aside, ようこそ! (welcome) to PC Gaming.

I don't get why some console warriors always come into these threads, to spread, easily disputable FUD about the PC platform. What kinda level of envy/jealousy is that? Then they try and bring up what next gen consoles can do (yet we didn't see any evidence of that during the conferences), and furthermore, none of them even have a ps5 or xsx sitting in their living room right now.

Getting a PS5 with a zen 2 CPU and a GPU that hits 2070 super performance with an SSD that can't be touched for 500 dollars or less, it just destroys the concept of getting what you pay for on PC. You get ripped off on the hardware side... less on the software side.

No, it doesn't. Getting what you paid for means that if you want the best, you pay the most. No matter how much disposable income you have, your PS5 will perform like every other PS5. I completely get why people on a budget prefer consoles, but let's call it what it is: settling.

I'm not on a budget, I could buy an Alienware right now.... I just find the games and experience on console better. The exclusives on Nintendo and PlayStation are the best games in the industry.... followed by Rockstar and Capcom IMO. You're still waiting a long time for R* games to come out on PC.

I hate using windows and I hate the idea of sitting at a table to play a game in an office chair... that is not leisure or a good time.

I was in fact flirting with the notion of getting the new Alienware, it looks good but then the PS5 design came out and looks quite similar. Color scheme is very like it too.
