Destiny 2 Shadowkeep (OT4) Free Stuff For Everybody!

I've been dipping in and out of D2 for the last year. Love the gameplay but have always been frustrated that I couldn't do any of the raids because it's just me and a mate, whom refuses to use lfg or play with randos. I still haven't done dreaming city, despite the titan armour that drops from there being my most wanted.

I'm uhming and ahing on whether to spend the silver on this season and try and get involved. A lot has changed and I'm unsure now how everything new works. And also quite sad that the origin story I've had since release is now being made useless.

Current season is exciting so far. For 10$ I wouldn’t ever complain really. Lets see how it pans out of course but all the new perks and mods seem cool.

I read that the new Dungeon is free to all players. That leaves me with the impression that it won’t be cycled out... which would be good. Dungeons are some of the best content — rather see more of those than story missions or strikes.

Forget your friend and just LFG yourself. The raids are the best part of the Destiny experience. Best and biggest set pieces and how you go into them matters. Everything else in the game are fairly casual comparitively. And if you haven’t raided before ... your first experiences feel revolutionary.

I bought it since I'm lacking much else to do and I do enjoy the story a lot. Probably will just have to bite the bullet and lfg alone. Shame because back at launch we did have a group we were working through the first levi raid with. Will have to see if gaflfg is still particularly active.

so much this. I've gotten pretty much all my raid stuff through LFG and it's really not a big deal. if your friend isn't up to it, it's fine. just give it a try yourself.

If I get the silver pack through steam, can I redeem it and then use the silver on PS4?

it should be. since the accounts are cross save so I think that as long as you have them linked, you'll get the silver on your console account too.

Just a few screenshots of new armor in a cutscene.

I don't like the ornament version as much - it's way too busy, with lots of unnecessary details. But this one is slick, simple and with a cool shader as well.

Okay... confirmed. 3 raids coming in fall. 3! That’s pretty friggin’ unreal. And that doesn’t even include the returning Vault of Glass later in the year.

And when the new expansion launches the cosmodrome will be available on the same day. Not in its entirety but over the course of the year it will be built on. 3 returning D1 Cosmodrone strikes returning. It’s been said that cosmodrome will be used to introduce new players to the New Light f2p experience.

So while four patrol zones and all leviathan raids go away, 1 returning and 2 new zones to take their place along with 3 raids in the fall.

All of this is pretty amazing to read honestly... biggest Destiny release to date it looks like...

Good job Bungie.

Remember to add me on PSN if you want to play sometime. VertigoX86.

I fully intend on making a new clan for this place. Just want to recruit some people first

Can someone aware me, if creating a new character, do you need to run through all the vanilla and forsaken campaign stuff?

Is there anything I would be locked out of?

Also, best way to level up now?

I believe if you make a new character, you should be able to do most of the stuff just fine. but things like Forge, Moon stuff and Dreaming City, you'll need to do the corresponding story quests to get to. and of course, stuff like heroic Zero Hour or The Whisper you'll have to clear the normal version first.

I don’t think people need to do the talisman quest anymore to unlock dreaming city or complete Forsaken’s campaign for it.

Aside from forsaken and shadowkeep campaigns, if you don’t own expansions I think you still have most content available that isn’t story missions or a raid.

People seem to love withehoard and it being broken op at the moment.... I dunno... I still think breachloaded GLs suck and are not fun to use. They all suck IMO except for Martyr’s retribution.... mountaintop is pretty corny too. Whatever

I have the season pass but I had not claim that package yet (just a personal preference thing). it does looks good but yeah I probably won't really use it unless it's outside of cheesing bosses (until they fix it) or other casual PvE stuff. but yeah, overall I'm not a big fan of breach GLs also. only one I had really used a lot before was Fighting Lion.

Soooooooo I'm getting weapons that have the triangle ship symbol on them and it says the possible power is 1360 but the same weapon I had before says the cap is 1060. So is sunsetting literally just making me grind for the same weapon with a higher cap potential? If so...🗑

which weapon is it? pretty much all old weapons from or before Shadowkeep have the cap of 1060, so that also include stuff from way back that has fix rolls. new ones should have different random rolls with some much better possibilities, like the Ikelos line of weapons for example.

About Ikelos, do I have to refarm my shotgun again on Mars? Or will it always drop as 1060?

The specific weapons I've noticed it on have been my bad omens curated roll and the bad juju that I literally just got 2 days ago (I didnt play for awhile). I'm more bitter about bad juju already somewhat being left behind being I just got it.

I believe that in Bad Juju's case, it's a bug. Exotics won't sunset.

if you're talking about the old/original Ikelos weapons (ie the shotgun, SMG and sniper), you can still try to farm them by doing lvl 7 Escalation Protocol on Mars (and yes, I believe those will stay at 1060 cap). if you're talking about the new ones with new random rolls, I think you need to run the new dungeon Prophecy (just like getting weapon drops in Pit Of Heresy).

yes, that's correct. Bad Juju, along with all other exotic weapons, does not have any lvl cap so far. the 1060 you see is just how far you can take them THIS season. you can look at any of the other legendary weapons and you can see there's actually 3 numbers. first one the current lvl, second one is how high it's lvl can get overall (the max cap), and third the cap of this season.

Any comments on the Prometheus lens catalyst? Dropped last night and it seems easy enough to do.

I would say most of the exotic catalyst are worth doing it. Prometheus Lens catalyst would give you +20 on stability and handling. nothing game changing but if you use it to run strikes or other stuff to clear adds, you'll get that done in no time anyway so might as well.

Ahh, I see. So they drop in the new dungeon, haven't done it yet.

Yea the reprised Ikelos weapons are in the dungeon. I used to like that handcanon a lot when 180s weren’t trash.

I would highly suggest using a sidearm over a handcanon if you’re not using a shotty for closer ranges.

There a bunch of reprised weapons with new power caps. Lonesome, and the gambit prime auto etc. and a bunch of returning weapons from year 1 that have been missing for two years now.

There will be a community escalation protocol event to culminate the end of the season.

Also some data mining of text where Zavala acknowledges the vanguard dare about replacing cayde... so Aldren is lurking somewhere ready to take his place as Hunter vanguard.

Massive spoilers for end of season

Escalation protocol event on the four locations with pyramid ships. Rasputin launches an attack is destroys the planets. We are tasked with collecting experimental exo parts ... for Rasputin to be embodied as a future npc

Destiny 2 is free to start. I assume you only bought the license to shadowkeep with that purchase. Download destiny 2 “new light” on PSN. I think that should work.

Welcome to the party pal!

Yea. It should be free. Go ahead and download. I doubt you’re being swindled....

I can’t comment on the first time experience for new players because of those free to start changes. It’s foreign to me as a day one player.

By the way.... dead game... LOL

Where can I learn about what mods to look for on weapons? I'm familiar with looking at stat distributions in other arpgs but never reached max level in D2 or raided so I didn't find myself playing the roll metagame. Hoping to do that now and trying to figure out what I should look for in a weapon to give me some versatile options.

There’s perks and mods. Watch coolguy on YouTube. There’s also a weekly podcast that discusses them called Firing Range. The Meta evolves constantly.

There’s perks and then there’s mods. What you choose for mods can depend on play style, the use of the weapon And rolled perk. It also varies by platform. On console for instance, because of the differences in recoil between controller and m&kb, you would want to slap a counterbalance mod on an auto rifle over targeting adjuster for instance ... unless you somehow godroll Ed stability perks on your weapon.

That kind of stuff is the crux of the game that gets you hooked. To be honest, I wasn’t as familiar with that kind of stuff in D1 as I am now but 6 years of Destiny changes a man...

In PVE you want damage perks. I’m a big fan of vorpal weapon for both pve and pvp as that does increased damage to all yellow bar enemies and bosses, and can melt other players while they’re in their super and is something I rely on in competitive pvp modes quite a bit.

For shotguns you want handling and range stuff. QuickDraw, opening shot, etc... snipers you want snapshot sights to beat other players with a faster ads time. Stability helps on snipers too but because of how zoom and range works in the game, scopes matter and increased range stat helps quite a bit with bullet magnetism.

Handcanons you want range and stability or even something like explosive rounds for increased enemy flinch and stagger as well as mitigating damage fall off a bit when you’re using it out of its intended range. You also want to check the magazine column looking for stuff like ricochet rounds for increased stability and range, etc.

In other words, the sandbox is so goddamn deep that you can obsess over it and can’t give you all the info you need but I can steer you in the right direction a bit.

Coolguy does excellent weapon analysis. Aztecross is good too but his reviews aren’t necessarily as sophisticated or accurate really.

And seeing how so many YouTubers have made careers over it... it makes me wonder my purpose in life.

Boy have I missed playing this game, the gunplay is awesome. 1011 right now, working torwards the prophecy rn. Started doing the two free chests for last wish so i can get my transmog ready for september. I would definitely be interested in joining a renewed gaf clan!

Bought Season of Arrivals for $10 like a compulsive clown and now I can't bring myself to go through the grind of power leveling - after that grueling, and in retrospect stupid grind on my 3 characters (110 on all) this past season. I guess I'm going to hold out until the Witch Queen expansion releases. Not enough new content to keep me satisfied.

Season of Arrivals is mostly teaser content for next expansion in September. You can effectively skip seasonal content and just dump on major expansions.

Was hoping to try the new dungeon this weekend. Still avoiding spoilers on it... supposedly it will disappear at end of season but there’s a player movement to ask for them to keep it because a dungeon is real content. But! It’s free to all players ... so I think there’s some miscommunication here.

I think it WILL disappear and become a strike of some kind later on.

Apparently Bungie came out and said that the dungeon will come back ASAP but that they have to take it off when the next expansion drops because they are making some tech changes that keeps them from just leaving the dungeon up.

so... was watching some D2 videos and came upon this little gem. also checked a couple other channels and they all seem to confirm it...

basically, make your character's lvl below 750 and go afk in Forge to get loot for lvl up. I'm not gona say if this is good or bad but in case anyone want to get lvl up fast, there it is I guess.

This works, but is EXTREMELY slow, best used after collecting all Powerful drops on a character if you're going to do this. I've gotten maybe 4 in the last 2 hours. This is definitely something to just do while doing something other then playing cause it isn't fun to pay attention to or watch.

Hey guardians ..

I’m looking for a clan .. is there any ?

I'm pretty sure there are still some folks from the GAF clan playing on console, but sadly not that many. I would suggest to join a few random LFGs while doing stuff, especially raids, and see if any of the good/fun folks can add you to their clan.

Bought the expansions, loaded it up. Completely lost.

Soooo. Anyone who knows what the hell is going on: I haven't played since vanilla. Any guidance to give? I wandered into the Black Armory, got given a quest to kill stuff with power weapons. Been too confused to really look around.

You can pick up the forsaken campaign from the pilot woman in the hangar I believe ( I can never remember her name) or jump right into shadowkeep If you own those dlc. That’s if you want to do some campaign stuff first. Otherwise I would just work on any quest that you’d like and just dick around.

I wouldnt waste time on the black armory forge content or the menagerie at the moment. I’m not sure if that’s being axed or not this coming fall...

I would focus on content that came out in year 3 (shadowkeep, current season, etc...) simply because most of that loot will be relevant to you in the future. Raid loot will also be relevant so making your way to playing those at some point would be wise. There’s other stuff too ... but if you’re just getting your feet wet... just do anything and see what sticks.

It’s quite difficult what to tell someone to do first in destiny. I mean... you can just stay in crucible too if you’d like too for like ... ever and still be fine . Lol...

(campaigns for vanilla, curse of Osiris and warmind will disappear in September so You could also play those campaigns first just because you won’t have a chance to do so again).

did you get the Forsaken expansion and Shadowkeep both? or just Shadowkeep? if you have both, I would say yeah go do the Forsaken campaign. open up Tangle Shore and Dreaming City both. otherwise, like Vertigo said, just do some campaign on vanilla/Curse Of Osiris/Warmind first and then Shadowkeep stuff. what's your lvl right now? if it's 750 and you just want to catch up asap, go grind strikes for a little and pretty sure you'll be able to get lots of loot to get you up to 900+ real quick. I would personally suggest grind strike/Crucible until you're 1000+. don't forget to get all the bounties from Zavala, Banshee and Shaxx (if you're going to do Crucible) to get some extra resource.

oh a side note, do all the Forge stuff up to the point where you open up Forge. go do the afk farming at night when you're sleeping and get a bunch of stuff waiting in the morning for you to lvl up would be nice too. just remember to make yourself as low light as possible (I can get to 580 I think lol).

I got both. I think the last stuff I did was in Osiris, nothing beyond that.

So I shouldn't bother with guns atm, since it's all irrelevant until I'm high light level?

The issue with forge farming now is that a bunch of assholes are not respectful of the idea that Forge is still something people do so they do not drop their LL when farming. I don't see bungie allowing this particular farming method going past weekly update coming up so things should go back to normal.
