Of course critics love it, they want to love and protect Ellie, and peacock their LGBT credentials.
I don't trust the game to be reviewed properly. They will be either too scared to anger or be trying to score points with the Reee mob.

I might watch it on YouTube or wait to pick it up for <£10 second hand on PS5 so I can sell it and get like 50p back. Naughty Dog ain't getting a penny from me.
People will always try to put an asterisk by greatness

She has a knife in this version.

I suppose this throws the delay possibility out the window

I prefer this one. I was actually wondering if the end was going to be the same and the guy was just going to be standing really far so the knife wouldn't make sense before it cuts but the guy is actually closer and she stabs him (or is going for the stab). I wonder if this version was made for a market where showing guns isn't allowed during prime time hours? Can't really image why the 2 versions, otherwise.

Guys, who read previews, is there any consensus on which difficulty it plays the best? specifically for genre veterans.

“Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is often hailed as the greatest stealth shooter of all time, but, in its best moments, The Last Of Us Part II is, for my money, a better experience. You can move in and out of stealth, given enough cover and enough time for enemies to lose track of you. You can now go prone to hide under vehicles and in grass, squeeze through gaps in walls, and an expanded set of climbing and jumping abilities mean you can reach higher areas to get a vantage point. Stealth is tense, fighting is fraught and it comes together in the best combat system in ages.”

Have a feeling this game will be similar to uncharted in that uncharted 4 and lost legacy were smoother and better mechanics and that made it easier than the old uncharted or last of us game(S)

This might sound weird, but I'd love a one life mode in this game, or at least one per chapter.

You can have the most intense realistic combat in the world, but in the back of your head you'll never truly feel like Ellie because you have unlimited tries.

Well, you can go back and start from the beginning if you want.

survivor.

ia during stealth is better, enemies have faster reactions, resources are not abundant and enemies are not sponges, they still die very easily.

True, but to be honest I'm not mentally strong enough to do it for no reason. If there were an actual challenge and reward to it, even if it's just a trophy, I'd do it. It'd make it feel like true survival.

Doom has it and I wouldn't consider that game immersive despite being fun. So this should aswell, hell every game should, fuck it.

“Though while the gameplay of this particular segment is exemplary, what really drives you forward is the story; the reason why you’re doing what you’re doing. Unfortunately I can’t mention any of that here, though to be honest I wouldn’t want to. I don’t want to spoil it for you. But if you loved The Last of Us, you’re in for a treat. Even if you think you might have been spoiled.”

So excited for this. Hard play through on the PS4, Grounded on the PS5 (and hopefully Factions PVE by then).

I've decided I'm going to play it on Normal first. It's going to be heavily story driven and I want to experience that as smoothly as I can without frustration getting in the way. We know there's stuff you can miss and not everything can be upgraded which means there's plenty of reason to play it a second time on a harder level.

me reading discussions between playing on "survivor" and "hard" knowing i'll play it on "Easy":

You just want to enjoy the story, it is understandable.
On the other hand i can't care less about the story so the gameplay and having some challenge is the important thing to me.

Yeah I was debating what difficulty my first run through should be, as I didnt want to miss those shiv doors by not having enough materials on the harder difficulties. But that been said I think I'm going to stick with hard as I've beaten every Naughty Dog game on Crushing/Grounded and don't want to fly through it. Also unless my first time involves a guide (it wont) things will get missed no matter what (collectables, optional conversations etc). So essentially it will be Hard playthrough, then easy to collect trophies I'm missing and finally a grounded PS5 play through.

Good job I love these games 😁

Welp. My GF wants me to play in Normal, but for the first time I feel inclined to start in Hard. What's the next appropriate course of action?

Tell her you need a break from this relationship. After you are done with the game, initiate a new contact. Problem solved :D

play on survivor so at least your're both miserable and nobody wins :lollipop_grinning_sweat:

Hahahahahahha

You play it on Normal, man. Your girlfriend WANTS you to play it. That's the important thing.

Our agreement is: When we get exclusives (TLOU, Uncharted, etc) I run the first playthrough while she watches, and then she will play the game when she wants. On the reverse side, once Assassin's Creed releases, she has the full control of the PS4 + TV for the duration of the playthrough.

Seems like a fair deal.

SERIOUSLY! I wish my wife would want to play TLOU2 with me. You lucky man.

I know, right! I did want harder difficulty, but it's a decent tradeoff.
