Cyberpunk 2077 - Multiple routes per quest have been considered. Player death should be only 'fail state'

There is only so much they can do with a FPS gameplay. I would imagine the multiple ways to do missions are : skip them stealth, run and gun, or some sort of negotiation/hacking system.

This game is gonna be what most AAA open world games will be modeled on for the entire next gen.

Everything in there sounds very promising.

I'm especially excited about the level design improvements. CDPR have said the delay will be used to further polish what's already in the game, not code in new features. But the proof is in the pudding. Surely, it has to be a super tasty and velvety pudding at this point. Let's see what they serve on the 25th.

Apparently, the "important conversations" about racism could yet again wait a second, just so another PR move could be squeezed in.

I've had this idea about a point'n'click adventure game as well...like timed sequences that lead to multiple paths.
For instance, you're in a mortal danger...act quick and you are saved, go through route 1.
If you're not quick enough, you're saved by another person leading to new gameplay options, or something happens, you fall into a hole and need to escape through another route, etc.

It's interesting but as Warren Spector said in an interview, it's hard to pitch to editors because content is created that most players will never see. CDProjekt being indie (even if AAA), they can do as they please.

Really have high hopes for Cyberpunk 2077, especially if the team responsible for the quests in TW3 is working on it. Writing was top notch.

That sounds great, and a lot like how Kingdom Come Deliverance tackles things. Having only death as failed state for the game adds a LOT of weightiness to your actions and gives you the sense of real consequences existing. It adds greatly to immersion & gameplay. I look forward to it.

How about they show us these features instead of pandering on twitter and throwing random buzzword mumbo jumbo at us?

I dont care. Aslong as what is there is worth playing. I would rather have really well crafted quests instead of more but lesser quality.

Honestly whats the point in making 3 routes when players only go through one? that's 3x the development time for shit people don't even experience.

Better make one good quest instead of 3 different lesser routes or a game that's 3x as short because of that.

Thank god, witcher 3 was pretty meh in terms of ways to solve quests.
Witcher was more about choices you made that had big consequenses instead of multiple ways to do the quests.
The best part about the witcher for me was the side quests lol. Loved runing into a random person and he sending me on a stupid quest with a fun storyline. Even the extreme short ones were kinda great. was really immersive that way

I hope this doesn't mean Nu Deus Ex like paths where you can go stealth, hack or say fuck it and gun down everyone rendering completely useless hacking and stealth.

Same, i enjoyed more the sidequest compared to the main campaign.

Both dlc have far better stories tho.

Based on the 1.5 hours of gameplay they've released, the missions are anything but open ended.

It looked as linear as anything else except there's the straight shoot'em up path, the hacking path and the stealth path, which result in slight variations of the same thing.

The difference is they scripted in some story divergence for some of the options.

Man I wish this was third person. Don't get my wrong, I'm hyped for it, but first person is so limiting to movement and perspective (especially if you prefer a stealthy approach). But I'll def be waiting to play this on next gen. I feel like current gen won't do it justice.

A third person option would be cool

There will be over 1,000 Cyberpunk 2077 NPCs with hand-built daily routines in CD Projekt Red’s upcoming blockbuster.

Confirmation comes from German website GameStar, which recently hosted a range of premium podcasts with developers at CD Projekt Red. The podcasts are in German and behind a paywall, but Reddit user Moraez took it upon themselves to translate the best bits and upload them to Reddit.
