Choosing my favorite was actually way harder than I thought, I've played all the games on the poll and I've enjoyed all of them but in the end it came down to God Eater and Toukiden, my favorite Monster Hunter clones, on one hand God Eater has a really big emphasis on storytelling unlike any of the other Monster Hunter clones including Monster Hunter itself, and it's a pretty damn good story and there's also so much avatar customization and that amazing Bullet Creator, you guys have no idea how many hours I've spent in that thing, even in the incredibly nerfed version in God Eater 3. On the other hand I'm a big fan of the dismembering mechanics in the Toukiden games and Toukiden 2 also has the best open world in all the monter hunter games IMO.

I'm voting for God Eater but only because I have hundreds of hours in those games, I think I've probably even played more God Eater than Monster Hunter at this point.

Always had a soft spot for Toukiden. I like the idea of a Japanese mythology-themed monster hunting game. The character models look great, the big enemies are cool and the weapons are fun to use. Monster Hunter still does almost everything better, but for a clone, it's top of the list.

I've only played Toukiden but I really liked it. Beat Kiwami and Toukiden 2 on Vita.

MH is still my fav. The only one that I sunk a decent amount of time into was Soul Sacrifice. Even though the setup is very different, the "weapons" are very different, and progress is very different.... it's the only "clone" that gives some weight and rhythm to its attacks. Attacks feel like they hit hard. Bosses flinch and writhe and loose bits of flesh and react to hits. Very cool aesthetics. My one major complaint was that the maps are nothing more than arenas. There's no exploration or sense of place.

Maybe it doesn't count because it's also by CAPCOM but I feel like Dragon's Dogma is the best clone/alt for MH.

The other ones all felt too musou-y.

Yeah that game was so good, it's probably my favorite PS Vita game, it had so much content, it's really sad to see Sony just sitting on top of this IP doing nothing with it.

Interesting, I wouldn't consider Daemon X Machina a Monster Hunter clone after playing every Armored Core in existence, but I can see the resemblance now that I think about it.

Same, early game in Dauntless is pretty good but the free to play model really starts showing up in mid game and I just couldn't keep up with the grind, but then again more content may be added with time so it's still in my radar.

Only others I've played besides MH is Ragnarok, Dauntless and Toukiden 2. I didn't like Dauntless at ALL, Ragnarok was pretty good and Toukiden was real good. Toukiden 2 it is.
