thinks Halo Infinite is a new graphical benchmark
Naughty Dog has been working on this game for years and they just gave us Uncharted 4, I don't see them holding back there powers on this game.

If you're a hater deep in the trenches, for whatever motivation (political, console war etc)... stop torturing yourself and get past bargaining. Fast track to the acceptance stage. Simply do what's rational and get the game on a PS4. We don't care if you do it in silence, we don't care if you continue to hate online while having the game at home... just don't be stupid to deprive yourself in this hobby.

I say in a completely unannoying and non hyperbolic way that this will be ONE OF the best games of this generation. I'm not a Sony or ND super fanboy so I say this as objectively as possible. I loved TLOU and definitely consider it an all-time great just like other highly rated classics. I hope/expect TLOU2 to live up to that, but ND is gonna have to make up for UC4 ultimately being disappointing.

In my opinion there have really only been a few really stand out games this gen from big developers, while I thought last gen overall had more/better games. So this game would be joining IMO just a few truly masterful games this gen.

Don't get me wrong, there are a lot of solid games that came out this gen, but all-time classics? I'd say the list is pretty short. BOTW, Alien Isolation, RE2, Doom 16/Eternal, and probably a few others I can think of are some of the few true classics this gen. Last gen games I could rattle off a whole series of masterpiece games.

Anyways, I hope TLOU joins the short list IMO of truly amazing games to come out of this gen.

Ps. Oh and I'm aware of the spoilers and am going into this with an open mind. Definitely want full context before I go talking shit about a game that isn't even out yet.

I bought my copy digitally. I have to wonder if they’ll do the live dialogue stuff for this. I bet COVID makes that very unlikely.

This guy played it on Survivor. Grounded is going to be patched in later, presumably before launch.

I sincerely hope Grounded isn't broken like it was in the first game. It basically had big-time RNG built into it and it was not cool.

I beat it on Grounded and certain parts were hilariously broken.

Whether or not you killed an enemy or got killed was pure chance and enemies could teleport to attack you. Like I'll be in the middle of my animation to attack them with a melee weapon and they'll somehow beat me to the attack with their FISTS. It's a shitshow.

Never played the NG+ what does it add to the gameplay experience?

You cannot upgrade everything completely. If you decide to go stealth and build towards that, you'll finish before being able to branch out thoroughly into any other gameplay approaches. NG+ means you can do that. There are also many different areas you may overlook entirely, with story related scenarios and sometimes even cutscenes, so you get a chance to check them out if you missed them.

Eurogamer/DF just posted an aritcle and video analysis

Speculating on how it can be showcased on PS5, potentially

Conceivably, titles like TLOU2 and Ghost of Tsushima could allow Sony to make a dramatic statement on its own rendition of Microsoft's 'smart delivery' - buy the game now and enjoy it on PS4, then transition across to PlayStation 5 where the developer could deploy the system's horsepower to deliver a raft of advancements. Perhaps The Last of Us Remastered hints at some of the possibilities there - 60 frames per second and/or higher resolution, for example.

thread is up for the vid, im watching now to summarize

I plan on playing on hard so that's fine, although when people say 'easy' it never quite feels that way to me. I'm shit.

Yes playing on hard is the way to go. It gives you just enough challenge without tainting the overall experience and pace of the game. Don't want my first experience with the game to be somewhat ruined by a section that gives me headaches and makes the playthrough longer than it should have. I do go back for that Platinum later on and submit myself to the pain but that first playthrough has to be golden.

I've played and finished TLOU on Grounded, so I know roughly what to expect. I reckon hard will give me a good reason to scavenge more and so exploration will feel more natural, if you see what I mean.

Difficulty is highly customizable. I played through the hospital infiltration on a few different challenge settings, and the gulf between them is noticeable. However, you aren’t bound to defined modes like easy, normal, or hard; you can also fine-tune specific elements of the experience, like how much damage Ellie takes, how perceptive enemies are, and how plentiful resources are in the world.

The accessibility options are broad. They include a wide array of adjustments you can make to the visuals and gameplay. Colorblind mode, HUD magnification, remapping controls, and infinite breath while swimming are just a handful of options that illustrate how Naughty Dog has kept players with disabilities in mind.
I'm playing sniper elite 4 during these days and this game has an highly personalized difficulty, you can tweak a shitload of things.

Definitely hyped for the gameplay/combat in TLOUP2. Knowing the leaks, my only real concern is how the story and characters play out.

This will be the moment of truth. These are people who played the entire game and can give an accurate opinion. Of course everybody has their own taste in games but if it gets bad reviews at least it will be coming from a place of knowledge.
the second hand comments on the impressions seems pretty good so far, like excited.

So I would not be surprised of that was a 95+

Obviously that depends on the efficiency of the review carpet bombing campaign goes, all SJWs are out in the streets now, burning everything else... proving to us that there are things worse than a pandemic.

I made a thread for the DF video, but that thread seems DOA, so I will just post this here

John (@dark10x ) and Rich give us his hands on impressions playing the game on PS4 Pro

- Review build is still 1440p at 30fps, but ND's temporal AA solution is phenomenal
- "Image quality is still very very good, but not perfect"
- Clear evolution of ND's technology this generation, starting from UC4, to LL, now this
- ND has focused a ton of effort on fidelity, the nitty gritty details, the quality of materials, ambient shadows, indirect lighting, the way grass moves and blows as you move through it, etc
- Impressed with use of screen space reflections combo'd with carefully places cube maps
- Fluidity of movement is "just remarkable," references little things like there are numerous animations for how Ellie can fall off a ledge depending on her positioning and speed, etc
- Companion AI and companion usefulness much improved this time around
- World/areas/maps are definitely more open
- "Kinda the best looking game they have made, but in a different way"
- Finish by speculating which directions they could go with PS5 patch/BC

So they didn't balance the thing? Why arent't options like how perceptive the ennemies are and how much damage Ellie takes under accessibility options?

I wasn't expecting this excitement, one reviewer is saying this could be one of the best games ever made and Metro says this is the best looking and most technically advanced game of the gen.

So I was reading through reddit and saw a post detailing TLOU2's chart position on various amazon charts. From Italy through to Australia.

It's number 1 everywhere with every edition besides the standard standard/steelbook sold out.

Just shows the mountains of early hate were unjustified. Where are those people now? 😂

It's the same for everything absolutely outrageous amount of hate that results in nothing. Add it to the Cyberpunk handling of minorities and the Spiderman puddle fiasco.
