Famitsu teases “huge scoop” for 4th June, akin to Wired’s PS5 article (likely Sega related)

Sega starts back manufacturing the original Dreamcast and then starts back making games for it exclusively with 3rd party devs supporting as well. Sega’s back!

Also, sequels to everyone’s favorite games... exclusive to the Dreamcast:
Jet Set Radio 3
Powerstone 3
Sonic Adventure 3
Sega GT 3
Skies of Arcadia
Valkyria Chronicles 5
Virtua Fighter 7
Sonic Mania 2
Chu Chu Rocket 2
Crazy Taxi 4
Capcom vs Capcom (leave marvel out since they come with licensing issues)
Plus new IPs exclusive as well.

and every Dreamcast now comes with hdmi and the broadband adapter (and WiFi). VMUs still work but now there’s internal storage as well. $99 launch price and available the week before Thanksgiving.

....I’d be so hyped if this happened lol

It's supposed to be big, that's why I'm thinking about it. Not wishing for it, though.
Hard to tell what the hell is so "big" to be impactful, since we are in the verge of a new gen.
I was just joking, it would definitely be interesting. I hope for something cool, but I’m getting the feeling it’s going to be nothing

SEGA are appearing at the Guerilla Collective Digtial Fest which is from 6th June till 8th June (so one of those days for them I guess). The next Famitsu issue is 4th June so will be the supposed 'revolutionary' news that day and then games to show at the fest?

tries absolute best not to get hopes up and imagining Sonic Adventure 3 in glorious 28K 876FPS

If it's really a big announcement, I guess it's going. to be Sega announcing some kind of partnership or collaboration project with Nintendo or Sony. If not maybe just some new title or next mini retro console (I would like a Saturn or Dreamcast mini :) )

I don't see anyone being on a position of buying Sega. If I'm not wrong few years ago Sega-Sammy holdings was the gaming company with more benefits

Maybe its something to do with the eye tracking they showed in this video a few years back

No ones buying sega

That's it! Sega to announce a triple-hybrid, Nintendo Switch-killer:

-Play it as a portable
-Slot it on a dock for TV Play
-Slot in on the included headset for VR Play with eye tracking used for foveated rendering.

:p

I don't think this is Sony related for a few reasons.

1. Back last year MS made a bunch of random comments regarding trips to japan and posted pictures of being at sega ( not a big deal by itself)
2. Phantasy star suddenly appeared as exclusive to Xbox, Yakuza was suddenly announced as a launch title for xbox. Neither of those things needed to happen
3. Famitsu magazine will be available sometime around noon in japan that day ( if not in the morning). Sony booked an event for 4pm est which is 5am in japan. There's no way something big will be announced by itself hours ahead of the PS5 event. This makes me think sony is countering the announcement with bigger news if they can get away with it

You could be right. But my thinking is that it's either a hardware related news, or it is related to Sony since both will be announcing on June 4th.

Us SEGA fans everytime they use words like this for announcements.

When reality hits...

We all know it.

My bet is on a Sega portable. It's a Famitsu exclusive which means it's more relevant to the Japanese market. Could be something completely stupid though.

I am there Day 1 if that is the case but I sadly don't expect them to get back into that market after failing the last time.

I find it hilarious to watch the xbox fanboys trying their best to completely disregard that Sega's announcement will be on the same date as Sony's presentation and trying to find the most dumb excuses to convince themselves that they are 100% unrelated.

I mean it's very likely it will be completely unrelated but i wonder if they would have sang the same tune if Sega's announcement would have dropped on the same day as MS's presentation instead of Sony's.

Pure fanboy talk. Yeah one is magazine exclusive and the other is a online show happening at 5am in japan? Likely unrelated to sony if sega is putting games on the competitions hardware.

Since we still have no idea what it will be (related to Sega). I am going to hope for a (quality) DreamCast mini system..... but with a network connection for limited online play AND has a few of the popular streaming services pre-loaded.

I bet it something like Yakuza games launching on ps5/xbx togather ..same date...

Just fucking hyping for clicks. ... those Asian gamers will still get the game on PS5 ...

I'm also going with the Sega handheld theory.

But I think it will be retro-themed. Like those Respberry Pi handhelds, but with an online store where you can download classic games.

It's going to be a Sonic thing IF it's a SEGA thing.
I'm a huge Sonic fan, but Sonic games haven't been 'revolutionary' since Adventure 1+2 came out. Heroes was OK, 06 was just shite, Unleashed had half a good game with the day sections, Colours was fun enough, Generations the same, Lost World was Meh, Boom was shite and Forces was shite.

Mania 2 would be nice. Sonic Team needs a revamp, remake Adventure 1/2 and get Adventure 3 sorted with a new and improved Sonic Team if they insist on making 3D games because quite frankly, I'm bored of the Unleashed day time/classic sonic in 3D side scrolling formula now. In fact I wouldn't even be mad if they forego 3D for the forseeable, some high octane 2D games would go down a treat IMO.

Fat Frog

I advertised for Google Stadia
I'm sure Sega and PS5 reveal at the same day is a mere coincidence.
Yup, it's just the weekly famitsu date. I even think the journalist teased us for the 4th because he knew the big Sega announcement would come directly from a Sega shiro CM one day before (june 3rd, Sega anniversary and then the technical details of the announcement in Famitsu the 4th)

Highly unlikely thats its new hardware. Sega has given rights to others to make Streets of Rage, Shenmue, Panzer Dragoon recently. Nintendo now has Bayonetta. Ecco the Dolphin may be coming to Amico. You would think Sega would retain some properties for themselves if they were coming out with a console.

Also Intellevision Amico is making a big announcement Tuesday as well (a partner annoucement I belive) could it involve Sega somehow?

Other than that it will probably be just another Yakuza announcement. Yawn!!!

I love Ecco. Would love to see a new game in the series

He's going with this.

Interesting... and I was thinking same or similar thing too. Sega branding on XSX - thing is XSX doesn't look like something that would appeal to Japanese market to be honest, even though I like how monolithic and well thought-out the machine really is inside out.

Then again, wasn't there a thread about Sega going exclusive for Nintendo?
If this tweet is indeed true - how Sega is going to approach the whole thing as deputy first party of MS, and at the same time a third party for other manufacturer(s)...

It would be nice if XSX can get the entire bc library of MD, SS, DC and Master System along with it.

Probably not happening, but I can dream... ;)

Why? Would seem like a painfully arranged marriage.
I know, right? Microsoft has been talking about making moves in Japan, but is Sega really the best gateway company for them? Sega does own a few big PC IPs that would slot nicely into Microsoft's stable, but that aside it feels like Rare all over again. A company like Capcom or Konami would give MS access to properties more in line with their audience and platform goals.

If Sega has to get bought out by one of the big 3, the best match would be Nintendo, IMO. Just looking at their IPs, Sega would bring a host of older games to their retro services and make everything from Bayonetta to Sonic permanently available to them. Those franchises would be great gets for any console, of course, but neither MS nor Sony seems to be all that interested in them, whereas Nintendo has gone out of their way to make sure those games are on their platforms.

I guess we'll see.

I'm gonna say people are going to be disappointed here.

I don't know A) how we'll this has been translated to English and B) how full of shit famitsu are.

The Microsoft buyout is unlikely. Wouldn't that be announced themselves rather than a magazine getting there first?

My guess is a Mini console to be honest. Like a Sega arcade game cabinet collection.
