Street Fighter V: Champion Edition final season announced | Includes five characters and three stages

I don't want a simple PS4 backwards compatible Street Fighter V. I want an actual port fully taking advantage of PS5. Call it Street Fighter V: Final Edition. They can make it 4K and have the motion blur feature from PC version. They can also fully take advantage of SSD, yes a backwards compatible version would make the game run faster, but an actual port would fully take advantage of SSD moreso than simple backwards compatibility. Finally they can revamp the netcode. You may ask why spend so much time to do the netcode, perhaps the extra power would help, and it would also be a way of proto typing SFVI netcode. Netherealm did something similar with MKX by fully revamping the netcode.

This wouldn't be the first time we would get a port of a previous gen Street Fighter. We got Ultra Street Fighter IV port for PS4. For people who are pissed about having to rebuy a port, they still can play their backwards compatible version of I'm sure Sony will have a smart delivery equivalent similar to Microsoft.

Predicts the worst decade for Sony starting 2022
Stopped being a cuck of Crapcom a long time ago. They use to be a great videogame company. They sold their souls along with Squaresoft, Enix, Bioware, Electronic Arts (yest they were once respected), and so many other great companies. The way they cuck the sf5 players with the micro transactions are really sickening to say the least.

Finally!!! The rise of Shin Dan!

He's already in the game as Kage.

I just wish they would stop with the shitty new characters.

Most new SFV characters are awful. They should just insert old Arika characters and Rival School characters instead. It would be awesome. No more choi bunge clones and lame characters like Necalli or Rashid.

To each their own. Fang, Necalli, Ed, Falke, Kolin and Abigail are the ones I didn't like.

Laura, Zeku, G, Lucia were decent.

Menat and Rashid are top tier.

The last time the Capcom Cup winner did not auto qualify for next year´s Capcom Cup was because SF5 was announced and played the following year. With next gen coming and those rumors about the games Capcom is planning on releasing next fiscal I wouldn´t say it was based on "weak" assumptions.
As I said before, with the multiple things Ono said last year we knew SFVI was not going to be released AT ALL in 2020 or 2021. And as I explained, same goes if we check in what point of the of the generation they release brand new numbered Street Fighters, so the fact that they are releasing a new generation of consoles this November support the idea that they won't release SFVI in 2020 or 2021, and even very likely 2022. And yes, this fiscal year Capcom will release 3 unannounced games, like they do every year. They are very likely tied to RE, MH or other non SF IP. Beause as I said before Ono said they won't start designing SFVI until they can see next gen games on the market and once they are done supporting SFV, which won't be soon.

Yes, it was a weak assumption because it was just a rule change out of a ton of other rule changes they did this year. And with covid, they changed even more things. It doesn't mean anything, it may just mean other thing like that they may do Capcom Cup a team based competition as they did with their recent competitions like SF League or Intel World Open. It was a weak assumption and in addition to this it went against all the references we had from SFIV and SFV, and also went against everything Capcom said about SFVI, which points to early 2023, or if very lucky late 2022.

Now I also remember Ono said at EGX regarding SFVI that it was too soon and that he wouldn't be able to say they started to work on SFVI until -if lucky- minimum at least a year or two in the future, and then after that we'd have to wait some years of development. So forget seeing SFVI being released next year because it won't happen at all.

Lol dude you are acting as if Ono was the most honest person around. The guy literally lies all the time and is a well known troll. I don´t blame anyone who is mad at this announcement.

It would be nice if this came to the PS5 but it looks this is an opportunity to add in some characters that haven't appeared for a while such as:

Oro
Sodom
Haggar
Maki
Remy
Necro
Twelve
Sean

But I'm hoping these are the the 5 characters to be added:

Rose
Sodom
Haggar
Carlos
Dean

Basically a whole bunch of Final Fight characters and Rose.

Give me a PS5 version of the game with all the content (including this new season) and fix the netcode and I will be back as soon as they launch it.

SFV needs more pure charge characters, so I'm hoping for Dee Jay (my main in super turbo). Still salty about Bison, Balrog and Vega... I loved those characters in 2 and 4, but in 5 they feel like total shit.
Bison is Top 5 right now and Balrog is also good (Top 15-20 ish)

Best Bison right now is Hotdog29. Dogura plays him sometimes too.

Like in any other company, in Capcom many projects get stuff delayed, cancelled or doesn't end being as initially they desired. It doesn't mean they lie or that there is any conspiracy behind., it's just human people who like anybody else are not perfect make mistakes.

Ono likes to make jokes and tease stuff, but it doesn't mean he's a troll. He's honest and passionate for Capcom and Street Fighter, and tries to do the best stuff possible, even if some things that not only depend on him doesn't end working as they expected.

If people like you think that the spokesperson of a company and game series lie and choose to don't believe what he says, and also ignore that maybe the company -as he said- may contine following the same route they did in previous iterations of the series, and instead choose to believe that insted of all of that they will do something else because they changed an eSport tournament rule then the problem is not Ono. It's you.

So SF VI for early 2023 then?
For what the spokeperson of the series said and looking at the SFV and SFIV cases, early 2023 or maybe if lucky late 2022 seems the more likely option. But they never mentioned any date, it's just my guess considering a lot of stuff. Everything can happen.

They're both equally good Imho. Problem X slipped off my mind. I need my CPT back again. Lol.

Yeah, I feel you on that.

I kinda wish more of the fighting game community were better streamers. A lot of the guys are pretty boring. Other than like LI Joe but he's been playing Tekken 7 and i'm not too into that.

I'd rather Oro, Twelve(or some other number) and three new characters. We still need the other two from Ed's crew. I've never been much on always bringing back old fighters, unless they really change then up like Vega or Poison. It's fun to get returning characters and all, but they did so much of that in SFIV. They've done such a great job with give crazy new styles to new characters, and having them be there more technical ones at that. Give us the new breed!

Now the latest rumour is these 5 will be the 5 DLCs for season 5.

They are a set of tarot cards that capcom released 2 years ago. And these 5 are the only ones who are not released yet in sfv.

That makes a lot of sense, and most of those have been rumored.

I'd love to see Maki from Street Fighter Alpha 3 Upper and Capcom vs SNK 2 make it in. Also, since we're not getting a new Darkstalkers any time soon can they add in Morrigan? Violent Ken being in a capcom game would be cool as well lol.

Yea just like when Ono said that SF5 was not in development because he had no R&D and budget back in 2013 and the game was announced the next year right? The guy flat out lies all the time and that's a fact whether you wanna accept it or not. I´m actually happy he is not the head of the fighting game division anymore.

After this announcement its pretty clear we are not gonna a see a new capcom fighting game for some time and again I don´t blame people who thought we were gonna get something next year.

Rose is :messenger_smiling_hearts:

Love her since Alpha.

I regret selling my PS4 so bad. I know Capcom fucked up so much with this game but I still feel the need to play it.

This is the least fucked up Street Fighter, especially balance wise. People talk shit about it, but every Street Fighter gets crucified. Jump in 🤜🤛

Oh, when I meant they fucked I meant that I wanted a complete game when I first bought it. I actually love to play arcade mode in fighters of multiple eras and I hated that it didn't have it back then. I just wish I could find a cheap used PS4 because I don't have much money now and the dollar is through the roof. A used one costs more here now than a new one did in 2014. I'll try to find one because I want to play it again in a more complete state. Talk about regret. lol

Somehow I get the feeling Capcom is being cheap by doing only 5 characters instead of the usual 6..
SFVCE will have 45 characters, the biggest amount of characters seen on a SF game, and this time we've been able to unlock them or to purchase them for a low amount of money instead of having to pay a full price game to add them update.

Super SFII Turbo had 17 characters, SF Alpha 3 Max had 38 characters, SF III 3rd Strike had 20, Ultra SFIV had 44 characters.

Oh, when I meant they fucked I meant that I wanted a complete game when I first bought it.
Welcome to the FGC, seems that you are new to the genre and don't know that basically all the games released until now since Street Fighter II got updated with paid only new content, mostly new characters.

Just to let you know, now it's the first time you get part of this content for free and that you can unlock the post launch characters or buy them separatedly instead of only a bundle/full game, and that you can play with all the players of the game from all the platforms where it has been released without being forced to buy any new character or even a full new game.

Yes, Ono didn't lie. Unlike now, back then Capcom was in a bad financial position and they didn't have budget to develop SFV, it was paused and planned to be released on 2018 because Capcom had scheduled to spend their available budget in other more prioritary/profitable games (REVII, MH games, etc).

But then Sony entered the ring and funded part of the development, paid extra money for SFV eSport prize pools and handled the USFIV port in exchange of console exclusivity of the SFV series. Capcom said multiple times that without Sony's money they wouldn't have been possible to release SFV in 2016.

My god... what an absurd reply. First of all...fuck the FGC.

I've been playing Street Fighter since fucking 1991 and I'm suddenly NEW to the genre?

I like fighting games and I despise the FGC and its elitism. I just play fighting games because I enjoy them and I own all of the Street Fighter versions (including V, I still have the disc even though I don't have a PS4 right now).

Yes I know they get updated. I must have more than 15 versions of Street Fighter 2 but all of them have a fucking ARCADE MODE which SFV didn't. And don't come up with 'no one plays it". I do play it, a lot. Yesterday I cleared SFIII Second Impact and Project Justice Arcade modes because I felt like it. SFV, when released, looked like a FTP mess even though I paid good money for it. It does look quite good now, but it has come a long way.

I miss when fighting games had iterations but at least you could unlock a bunch of shit without having to buy them separately. This kind of accepting mentality hurt the genre.

I adore Street Fighter 5. I love the gameplay and character set that is available in this version of the game. In terms of the tier list for SF5 characters, who do you think is the best fighter in the game?

No, he announced that several months later he was going to leave the company. Capcom invested a fuck ton of money on the eSports strategy and division that Ono built, but covid destroyed all the huge plans they had for 2020: from Street Fighter V in the olympics to the biggest and most ambitious Capcom Pro Tour with dozens of presential tournaments spread around the world, to college tournaments in USA and Japan and ESPN deal. He tried to shift it to online tournaments but it wasn't enough, it didn't work. Capcom lost a ton of money due to it so he retired to take responsability.

The game producer and director continued with the last season of SFV (and SFVI, planned at least more than a year ago for a late 2022 release) taking themselves now the PR lead of the franchise.
