Didn't Mario + Rabbits that made by Ubisoft sold well? also.....
Wait. So my argument is that the only games that sell well are ones made by Nintendo and are known Nintendo IPs and your argument is... Mario + Rabbits? Mario? This guy?:

The most recognised Nintendo made character Mario? Really?

Astral Cain is published by Nintendo so is Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3. They took about a year to reach that million. It's pretty clear that the point I was originally responding to was brought up because of Animal Crossing that has sold 13.41 million in like 2 months. Let's not pretend that 1 million in about a year is the same as that.

As per your own link, best selling Switch games as of dec 2019:
  1. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe - 22.96 million
  2. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate - 17.68 million
  3. Super Mario Odyssey - 16.59 million
  4. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild - 16.34 million
  5. Pokémon Sword and Shield - 16.06 million
  6. Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu! / Let's Go, Eevee! - 11.76 million
  7. Splatoon 2 - 9.81 million
  8. Super Mario Party - 9.12 million
  9. New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe - 5.85 million
  10. Luigi's Mansion 3 - 5.37 million
Notice the trend?

In your post you said....
Generally third party Nintendo platform exclusives fail in terms of sales.
So sure, they don’t sell no where near as Nintendo ‘s first party games but it’s far from “fail”.

Well what the fuck happened to the Vita then?

It wasn't supported by Sony's best IP, while the Switch was. Had the Vita had a Gran Turismo, Last of Us, etc it likely would have done better. Maybe not as well as the PSP, and certainly not the Switch, but not the disaster it was.. It did have an Uncharted, but clearly a spinoff.

The the examples you gave were either published by Nintendo or had Nintendo actively partake in their development. I also said "generally".

I really don't get why people have so much trouble admitting the obvious fact that people buy Nintendo platforms to nearly only play Nintendo made games when all sales figures point towards that. The idea that just making a game Switch exclusive will result in massive sales is just stupid.

I don't think game like Octopath Traveler was funded by Nintendo and it sold pretty well and I think Mario + Rabbits both developed and published by Ubisoft themselves, its kind of why it goes on sales often. But I see your point, I myself didn't bought Switch to play ports from PS4 and Xbox (Only got DQXIS), I bought it to mostly play both first party and third party exclusives.

It’s going to be very interesting to see how Nintendo plan to maintain this insane momentum and sales trajectory, at the point of PS5 and XSX release and beyond

New model?
New hardware?
New accessory?
Price cut?
Bundles?
Games?

...Because that's totally untrue? These massive sellers on Switch tend to be always made by Nintendo and are known Nintendo owned IPs. Generally third party Nintendo platform exclusives fail in terms of sales.
There is a BIG difference between Switch audience and Wii.
There are lots more hardcore players that bought it this time around.
Switch software sales are massive.
I do think it's different this time around

You can go look up Bethesda’s and CDPR’s comments on the sales of their Switch ports, if you like. Or accounts from the indie devs whose titles have sold better on Switch than on other platforms. How elastic do you want “generally“ to work here?

What about death stranding, did something happen?
according to dusk golem(capcom and sony insiders at transera) 3 million unsold copies are currently sitting on the shelf.
RingFit Adventure is likely to outsell Death Stranding at a huge margin.

LTD prediction

RingFitAdventure - 10m
Death stranding -3.5m(ps4)

Real excersice

Waste of effort for Sony I think. Uncharted for Vita was better than 4, and Killzone was just as good as any.

Killzone for Vita if played on Hard is actually quite balanced n makes good use of all of it's mechanics. I say if played on Hard it's the best Killzone.
Uncharted for Vita was so-so, better then 4 for sure... But anything better then 4.

...lacks reading comprehension.
Why would you put 8 % sales increase of discs in the topic and not the 55 % overall? Digital games were the success, not physical ones.

Titanic was called the Ship of Dreams, and it was. It really was.

I think they're gonna try to do it with just new games..

I'm not saying it will work, but I highly doubt there will be the other things that you mentioned.

Except for maybe some temporary bundles.

wonder how many of those FF7R sales are from people thinking it's the whole game
(most people don't follow gaming news) boxart does a great job of not pointing out it's midgar only

You could be right which is possibly the reason why releases on Switch have been comparatively poor this year so far from Nintendo.

They could be sitting on games to release them around the PS5/XSX release.

It was long ago when everyone thought cellphones could kill consoles for gaming.

Pretty sure if released today and supported fully by Sony, would be a viable system.

Switch though is make or break for Nintendo and is supported like that. So obviously wouldn't reach that level.
