Assassin's Creed Valhalla will run at 4K 30FPS on Xbox Series X

And yet there is hardware in the pc market today that will run it above those settings...
I really hope this is early development musings otherwise ubisoft just managed everyones expectations of next gen big time.

People who actually looked at the specs and the technology and went beyond MS' hype were saying this, and that this console isn't the ultimate machine they were making it out to be. And sure enough, as real info about real games is trickling in, they are proven right.

That said, it should still be an capable system in a hopefully affordable package, which is what consoles are good at. If you want no compromises, 60fps in every game, etc., there was and is a platform that can get you there.

its 30% weaker sauce the ps5
Ps5 gpu is 17% weaker than xsx .dont start bullshit with 9tf or bring source that shows its 9tf cause sony said its 10.3 tf with variable frequency dropping rarely 2% which means rarely 10.1 tf and is 18.4% weaker . And we don't know untill the figure for AC valhalla comes out . So stop derailing the thread

Never played any Assassins Creed game on console or PC but all the previous games where 30 fps. Where they bad because of this?

I guess it just a question of priorities.

You could have 60fps but you had to scale back on the graphics. or you could spend all that power on graphics and stay at 30 fps.

Honestly never expected any anything different from a pretty massive cross generational game. Should expect the same from the PS5 as well, maybe once developers had more time to work with these consoles we can see better improvements in later AC titles.

But as the article stated, 30FPS is the minimum so it will be interesting to see how high it does go.

Isn’t there a thread where ms pa boy is saying no comprises and 4K 60fps will be the standard next gen? LOL

it’s the price you pay for uncompressed perfect pixels.

Lol MS doesn’t tell third party developers how to develop their game. You know this, stop being intentionally obtuse and whoever made that statement is ignorant if they meant all third party titles will be 4K/60Fps as well.
Shit I’d be surprise if all first party titles hit that mark despite the claim and Microsoft’s Intention.

It looked no better than Odyssey and I can run that game at 4k at well above 45 fps and 60 frames if you lower the pointless clouds settings that eat half the frames on a PC that's 2 years old. 30 FPS on a next gen console is not a very good start.

The clouds are one of the things that hold the visuals back on the X1X version of Odyssey IMO, yeah I always check out the clouds lol.

So if you want a taste of next gen then just go watch Odyssey, RDR2 or Metro Exodus running at native 4k, max settings and imagine it locked at 30fps. :pie_roffles:

I keep seeing people saying "well the X1X runs Odyssey at native 4K and 30fps" yeah but we don't know how many other things are being improved in Valhalla. What graphical settings are being bumped up etc. When the current gen launched AC4 was released on the previous gen consoles as well as PS4 and X1, both "next gen" consoles still ran the game at 30fps but bumped up a lot of graphical features.

I don't know what the limiting factor is for Valhalla but I'd rather have higher graphical settings than 60fps, now if they could do an 1800p upscale or some kind of 4K reconstruction and do 60fps I'd be all for it, I'm not a native 4K snob but I do like better looking environments and effects.

The engine already runs at 1800p on the XB1X (Origins / Odyssey) with a shitty Jaguar CPU, 6tflop GPU and terrible, slow hard drive.

They better offer Ray Tracing / 30fps or no RT / 60fps or I’ll be going ham with a 380TI instead of a new console lol.

4k isn't even a thing with RT even on PC in far less complex games then ac odyssey. The only RT stuff u see is a shitty fake RT shader as mod in games that people run and even then performance is complete dog shit.

RT will probably be used when GPU is idling most of the time on those consoles in fighter games or less complex games with less stuff to render on the GPU front. But even then they probably want more performance for better complexity in the world. Because who's going to notice the lightning being a bit different nobody.

What jaguar cpu and slow hard drives do isn't interesting.

OH come on man it's a generation leap. A much improved cpu compared to the shittie jaguar, almost seven years difference of hardware there's no excuse.

I don't know how people's expectations got to the level they are at (actually I do, but that's a whole other story) but you only have to look at 2080ti 4k benchmarks with raytracing enabled to see what's really going on.

The push should be for RT (maybe at 1440p) or 4k @ 60fps, not both. Expecting both in AAA games will only end in tears.

Exactlt 2080ti paired with i9 hits around 61 fps for assasin creed at ultra setting with RT. People have some crazy expectations from these machines

Have Ubi said anything about RT on Valhalla?

why not give people options? 60fps with lower quality visuals or 30fps for eye candy. there should be options for people with 1080p and 1440p displays too (with better performance as a result of it), i know 1080p is plenty enough for me and i don't plan to go higher, ever.
this is one of the reasons i abandoned console gaming in the first place, developers just make these kind of decisions for you.

Much better cpu = Native 4k/60 looking good

Much better gpu/tf = Native 4k/60 looking good

Hey gamers, clean that jerk off sock of yours. You're going to love how RT makes everything shiny = I think my car just stalled

Fine. That's fine. I like 4k (have 4k monitor) and 30fps is perfectly fine for that type of games if object motion blur is good and if it's stable ... and if the graphics are worth it.
And let's not forget it will load faster etc presumably
30 fps is OK for these type of games? I mean it's acceptable but 60 does benefit the game immensely specially during combat

That was expected.

It is a dev choice.
And graphics sells better than framerate.
It will be the same game as the pro and one x. This is all about not wanting to put any effort into a next generation version. Minimum effort to ship it. Vote with your wallet if you except a 30fps cross generation game that is half ass port.

Anyone with half a brain knew 60fps was never going to be standard on next gen consoles. Its just marketing tripe as it is every generation.

If you really want 60fps and want to be sure of it you need to game on PC.
Yeah, it was always laughable hearing people say 4K 60FPS across the board for next generation

I don't believe this game has RT.

Yeah why da fuck can't they do that like in some Playstation 4 games!? A resolution and a fps mode? It would make everyone happy

Some games have it now for X and Pro. Not sure why it's that hard. Does MS and Sony have strict rules what games can have options?

Console game = We offer one option

PC game = We've calculated there are 5,835,130 combos of OS, cpu, gpu, ram and we got it all working no problem. We even built you 20 sliders you can adjust. Cheers

there will always be games that go for 30fps

why? because you can push graphics to the max, resulting in better looking screenshots and trailers.
ultimately most people who play games now are casuals who couldn't give half a fuck about gameplay.

even back in the days of the MegaDrive and SNES not every game ran at 60fps. most did, but not all did.

No, it doesn't. You don't know what you're taking about. You people always say the same shit at the beginning of a new generation. Get used to 30hz or build a PC. Maybe in the process you'll learn a thing or two about what's required to run games at 4k/60hz.

You can push graphics to the max with that hardware on a cross gen game and still get 60 fps

Exactly and they have study that shows them pretty graphics sells more copies than higher FPS . So they lock the frame to 30 and push graphics to the max

The reality though is that it probably runs at about 25fps on current gen, and 45 on next gen. So yeah, next gen is ‘stable’ and current gen a load of tosh.

Launch year cross gen games are what they are.
