SEGA teasing an announcement for their 60th anniversary (Virtua Fighter 6?)

They've said the same about "a new Sonic Racing" on Twitter. "It's not a thing, or it doesn't exist".

And then 1 year later, Team Sonic Racing was announced ...

SEGA will lie with no mercy, because they never announce games randomly.

Most of their reveals and announcments are made during events or important dates.

+ SEGA Europe and SEGA America have no power. It's all about SEGA Japan when real things matter.

LOL, looking at it zoomed in like that and with comparison, they really chose quite the toothpick for the photo.
Akira was added This Month on Sega Heroes...

Could be a SEGATA Saturn mini too.

The announcement of some franchise revival would be cool, but I won't be shocked, if this really is just the reveal of a new brand mascot.

Cores, shaders and BIOS oh my!
If that's new Segata I hope it's a bad angle cos he looks more like asian boy band material instead of the rugged karateka.

Doesn't matter if it's Akira since his in game model won't resemble an actor anyway but if that's Segata, meh.

First thing I thought of too. Although a new VF would make much more sense (and I would love that), but the guy in the picture is too skinny compared to Akira.
It's a teenager called "sega"re.

Rent a hero from Sanshiro family ga gotoku confirmed.

"Sega of Japan is PROUD to announce - in close exclusive collaboration with Microsoft Global Studios... a next generation reboot series for the ages! Virtua Fighter, Altered Beast, Beyond Oasis, and Space Harrier with more to be announced at a later date! Now, please enjoy the show..."

a new Virtua Fighter would be absolutely godlike.

It would show to the world, what is the real king of the japanese arcade 3D fighting games again.

Man if it's Virtua Fighter 6, that game would make me preorder the next gen consoles just right now.

That would be so sick and pure happiness.

To me, VF6 is the biggest game ever that SEGA can announce, EVER.
I wish I could get into vf but I can’t. :(

The Ad says something about Ambassador - so I think it would be a talent reveal - perhaps successor to the Segata Sanshiro... to promote Sega. Nothing VF6 (as much as I would love to see.. sigh)

Stop getting excited like that. This is a Segata-san Shiro teaser. It is going to be :
- at best, a Sega Saturn mini
- otherwise : NOTHING

The image clearly says Sonic. Right? Or Monkey Ball? Please?

6 Could also mean Six Buttons, which the Saturn Pad had and that Segata punched in himself on those Adverts.

You never know...it's weird to have something like this without some sort of announcement.

So why using the number 6 and Akira stance to create some hype ????

Why not make VF6 with one of best SEGA franchises (legendary) and greatest fighting games of all time for the 60th anniversary ????

Who really cares of Segata Sanshiro in 2020 ????

Why SEGA has studio like AM2 and Yakuza Studio to not bring back the godlike and beloved fighting game that everybody want ????

Just why SEGA ???? WTF are you doing ????

All these employees and money and studio + motions capture, but where the f*** is Virtua Fighter ????????

Fans will never give up SEGA, you better bring back that legendary IP !

It's easier than it looks. I was intimidated by VF for years, but eventually I sat down and made myself learn it, and man I was glad that I did. Don't be put off by the hundreds of variations of moves, the differences are very subtle, and you'd have to play for years (as many have) to appreciate them. They're only there so the game is essentially strategically inexhaustible.

Every character more or less lives off a handful of signature moves and the evergreen PPK. Block beats attack. Attack beats throw. Throw beats block.

The thing which does take getting used to is the pace of the game. Hits trade in the blink of an eye and damage is unusually large, especially when countered. A round can be over in seconds if you're not paying attention. Otherwise it's a very accessible, very straightforward, and incredibly fun series. I find that VF's purported 'complexity' is played up by people who don't really understand how VF works.

Titanic was called the Ship of Dreams, and it was. It really was.

I'm proficient at it now, but it is a deep system that requires time.

I started with the VF1 that came with my Saturn. Then when I switched to VF2, it was a smooth transition. And then with VF3 in the Arcades, the evade button added a new dimension. I had to change all of my strategies. But the best of the bunch is VF4 for sure. I'd say it's probably best to start with that one, if you have no experience with VF.
