Four Brooklyn Nets players test positive for coronavirus
From CNN's Homero De La Fuente

The Brooklyn Nets announced on Tuesday that four players on the team had tested positive for coronavirus.
One of the them shows symptoms, while the other three are asymptomatic, according to a statement from the team.
"The organization is currently notifying anyone who has had known contact with the players, including recent opponents, and is working closely with state and local health authorities on reporting," the team said.
The NBA season was suspended last week after Utah Jazz player Rudy Gobert tested positive for the coronavirus.
Before the Nets announced four players had tested there had been three other players that had tested positive, Gobert and Donovan Mitchell of the Utah Jazz and an unnamed player on the Detroit Pistons.

So am I doing the math right? The global mortality rate just ticked over 4% and Italy is almost topping 8%?

By doing a straight %, yeah. That doesn't make a lot of sense because the deaths here are trailing, meaning someone infected today is not likely to die today.

We don't know what the trailing # is, but I'd guess 5-7 days.

So once NEW cases stop, we're likely going to see additional deaths which will cause the CFR to increase.

Caveat.. there are undiagnosed cases walking around which would make the CFR go down, but there are likely undiagnosed cases of EVERY virus walking around so at some point you have to just accept the numbers we have.

Can You Imagine What SureAI Is Going To Do With Garfield?
My aunt just mentioned that my cousin's son is quarantined because one of the kids in his school (I think he attends private Hebrew school) was tested positive.

It looks like the SJW's might use the Chinese virus to push through the Universal Basic Income. If this happens, it will be the END of any concept of limited government.
If by SJW's you mean Republicans, then... yeah:

The White House announced Tuesday that it wants to give Americans checks in order to combat the economic devastation many will feel amid the coronavirus outbreak.

“We are looking at sending checks to Americans immediately,” Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said during a news conference at the White House Tuesday.

“Americans need cash now,” Mnuchin said. “And I mean now in the next two weeks.”

President Donald Trump, who had initially floated a payroll tax holiday, said that he favored more immediate action that could inject cash into American’s pockets faster than waiting for the next payday.

“I think we are going to do something that gets money to them as quickly as possible,” Trump said. “We will have a pretty good idea at the end of the day what we will be doing.”

Man how bad did Italy fuck this up

No more than anyone else. This was to be expected, they have unusually high mortality rates with the flu, too.

"Investigating the impact of influenza on excess mortality in all ages in Italy during recent seasons (2013/14–2016/17 seasons)" -Science Direct

Results
We estimated excess deaths of 7,027, 20,259, 15,801 and 24,981 attributable to influenza epidemics in the 2013/14, 2014/15, 2015/16 and 2016/17, respectively, using the Goldstein index. The average annual mortality excess rate per 100,000 ranged from 11.6 to 41.2 with most of the influenza-associated deaths per year registered among the elderly. However children less than 5 years old also reported a relevant influenza attributable excess death rate in the 2014/15 and 2016/17 seasons (1.05/100,000 and 1.54/100,000 respectively).

Conclusions
Over 68,000 deaths were attributable to influenza epidemics in the study period. The observed excess of deaths is not completely unexpected, given the high number of fragile very old subjects living in Italy. In conclusion, the unpredictability of the influenza virus continues to present a major challenge to health professionals and policy makers. Nonetheless, vaccination remains the most effective means for reducing the burden of influenza, and efforts to increase vaccine coverage and the introduction of new vaccine strategies (such as vaccinating healthy children) should be considered to reduce the influenza attributable excess mortality experienced in Italy and in Europe in the last seasons.

The leader of the Democratic Party, Nicola Zingaretti, made a point of showing up at a bar for a very public Aperitivo, the traditional Milanese evening drink, and light supper.

"Let's not lose our habits, we can't stop Milan and Italy," Nicola Zingaretti posted on Instagram nine days before he tested positive for COVID-19.(Instagram: Nicola Zingaretti)
He urged the country to avoid "destroying life or spreading panic".

But nine days later, both Fontana and Zingaretti announced they themselves had contracted the virus.

Maybe it'd be a good idea to report how many people are recovering to stop the stupid public from panic buying toilet roll & pasta?

People generally are not panic buying because they're afraid of dying from Coronavirus, they're afraid of being quarantined in their house without essential items to last them, and not trusting the powers that be to be able to supply them.

Yes. Democrats and Republicans will use this to push the Universal Basic Income. The truth is that most of the so-called Republicans are SJW's in disguise. I think the vast majority of Republicans are every bit as bad as the democrats. Anyone who would push for a Universal Basic Income is a communist who would love for the United States to turn into the same hell hole that is China.

Keep those priorities straight man.

I'll go one better. I'll call it the Chinese Wuhan Virus. Actually, if it weren't for China's corrupt system, this virus could have been stopped shortly after it emerged. China has cost lives around the world because they arrested the doctors who told the truth about this virus rather than take action.

No, I posted this on my main twitter account :/

There is a blood shortage in Los Angeles
From CNN's Cheri Mossburg

Social distancing has led to the cancellation of 160 major blood drives in the Los Angeles area in the past few weeks, which haas resulted in a blood shortage.
Dr. Christina Ghaly, director of L.A. County Health Services, said there are 5,500 fewer blood donations than usual.
“It is safe to give and receive blood,” she said, noting a lack of evidence that coronavirus can be spread through blood.
Disaster plans are being activated and Ghaly said she feels confident that the medical system will be able to manage the surge in patients.
Hospitals are also prepping for need of respirators and blood supplies, she said.
The county is receiving and filling requests from hospitals for personal protective equipment, including masks, gloves, gowns, and hand sanitizer. California Emergency Services delivered additional stockpiles of these supplies on Monday, Ghaly said.

this is how things pile up on top of each other fast

I said it before but we SHOULD BE CREATING A STIGMA.

Everyone in the world needs to know that this happened because of China's lies. No way they should be left off the hook.

If China virus is too much then call it the CCP virus, and that can go along with TDS, Taderos Derangement Syndrom. The asshole who Opposed banning travel with China.

We cannot forget or else China will do the same thing again and maybe next time its a virus that kills 30% or 50% of people. It has to be known that what China did was unacceptable. And no matter how many Iphones and Nikes they make we won't take it.

Keep those priorities straight man.

UBI is the end of limited government. It would give the government absolute power to redistribute wealth. No where in the constitution is Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, or Universal Basic Income authorized. For a medical emergency like the Corona virus, I don't like restaurants and bars being forced to close down, but I realize that they will be allowed to re-open. Once the government gives the first few cash payments to members of the public, they will expect them to continue forever. I'm terrified at the idea that THEFT of money from one person and giving it to another is about to be made the norm. Already it almost is with all the social programs we have in this country. But if the UBI starts the government will have the ultimate power over the public and the economy.

I totally oppose all the bailouts that are happening right now. The government has ZERO right to give away money to private industries.

I agree. China needs to be exposed for arresting their scientists and doing NOTHING while the virus was spreading in their country. They have created an economic meltdown around the world. This is THEIR FAULT. Regardless if the virus was bio-engineered or not, all the blame should be pointed at them. I think that there should be meme contests over who can make the best illustration exposing how China is responsible for this virus. My idea would be a crazy mad scientist selling mutant rat carcases at the meat market for a wad full of cash.

China deserves to lose face over this virus, and the west should rub the CCP's nose in their shit and milk it for as much as we can.

Interesting. The guy on Rogan said that there wasn't a correlation between warmer climates and the spread of COVID. I wonder who's right.

So much conflicting infos. How to decide what's accurate is hard.

Wish me luck. Just changed hotels here in Maryland and need to stock up on some groceries. Good on tp though, so that’s nice.

I’m continuing to get take out to try and help the restaurants I like while the eat-in ban is active. Fuck me, I really feel bad for all the people this shit is affecting. So weird seeing empty parking lots at every restaurant.

Hospital Life Update: Cases jumped and we had to open another isolation area. Even our other sites that don't have Emergency support are being setup to triage, test and get them where they need to go. We do have the ability to do tests with 2 hour per stage results. So we should start getting some better numbers in the area.

Staff is being closely monitored down to the smallest sniffles. 14 day quarantine or remote work if possible. If site staff gets too low we will all be shifted around to make sure support for patients don't drop. CDC also recommended today basic surgical masks be worn at all time even if they are not N95 masks.

Visitation from guests is being limited unless there are certain scenarios. I am waiting to see if all visitation is stopped in larger campuses to stop the spread.

We are expecting a full surge in the next few days.
