I am playing through my own copy of Bloodborne for the very first time on native hardware. Previously I'd borrowed my friends PS4 or played it streaming through PC, so this is my first real time through. Already it is stunning! I've played through the whole game before minus the DLC but it was streaming. It is a joy to play it through once again, this time on real hardware. The controls are even nicer and the visuals are less desaturated and more sharp. I love it!

This game really holds up. I love Dark Souls III and Sekiro but this has such vivid art design and pure, focused gameplay. The pacing of the level design is wonderful. Areas like the Cathedral Ward are truly beautiful to behold. I am especially looking forward to playing through the DLC for the first time! Not sure how much to level up for but I've heard a minimum of lvl 60-70. I'm currently fighting the Blood Starved Beast so I have a ways to go.

One thing I LOVE about this game is exploration, you find completely new optional location that has it’s own set of unique enemies and boss fight. Exploration in Bloodborne is better than 90% open world games out there these days.

The frame pacing issue is such a blemish on an otherwise gorgeous product, but once you play for 20 minutes or so you won't be thinking about it.

They really need to do a PS5 version that's 60fps with other major visual improvements.

Loved Bloodborne. The only thing that still bothers me its the frame pacing and frame rate problems. Be able to play this at 60 fps on PS5 its one of my wet dreams.

Hell yeah. Bought PS4 just to play this and never regretted my purchase, still play through it religiously once or twice every year. There is just something about Bloodborne - from unparalleled art direction, to animations, characters and visuals that just isn't there for other souls titles.

I'm not a Souls guy and generally shied away from 'difficult/hardcore' games. However the setting/artstyle and praise was just too much to ignore.

I jumped in and played slowly keeping my expectations in check. I KNEW I was going to die a lot so no biggy.

I beat it and it was one of the most rewarding games I've ever played. Loved it. Took me two years but man ... what a game.

A few things before I leave my post:
1. Fuck you Blood Starved Beast
2. And FUCK YOU Amelia!

just beat BSB myself. he is a real pain. that 2nd phase when he poisons you is deadly.

eventually i got down the parry. he has a long wind up for several of his attacks, the trick is to wait long enough to parry them. i got him down to 50% health that way. i also spent some time farming levels and vials/bullets via Cathedral Ward and the extending forest.

So. Really glad you're having a blast. It's a great game but lemme tell you why it sucks.

Bell Maidens...and Chalice Dungeons. I've said it so many times in the past and I know I'm beginning to sound like a broken record. Matter of fact, if a completely disintegrated record made a sound I would be mimicing it right now.

There should be no way to keep me out of your game. All I wanna do is get close ya...show ya a lil stabby-stabby tough love. It won't hurt....for long.

Yea the PVP was over before it began with the Bell Maidens.

I have so conflicting thoughts about this game. It is masterpiece. And sometimes I want to buy it again and play once more, this time with th DLC. But then I remember how stresfull it was sometimes. At the same time, how great it felt to finally beat BSB etc... At the same time, how incredibly frustrating some parts are. Like with rom the spider or whatever he was called.

Also, mandartory gif:

This fucker got stuck near the altar and I finished him quickly, and I felt like a cheater.

Anyway, it is nice to read people are still enjoying this game, I think it is quite unique.

If Elden Ring is half as good as Bloodborne then it'll be amazing. My 2 biggest wishes for the inevitable sequel are more build/gear variety and shit-can the terrible Chalice dungeon crap.

Game of the generation imo.

Played it over 10 times over. I won't touch it again until they give it a 60fps patch. So never.

Wait, a thread like this WITHOUT a Bore Pun???? I mean, Bloodbore was ripe for the pickin'!

I played this game for about 20 hours until I got to a boss that I just couldn't beat. I forgot her name. People would tell me she was easy, I would watch videos of people doing it, just could never get past her.

Sekiro is the only FROM game that I have completed.

Are talking about Blood Starved Beast or Amelia?

At beginning I had a hard time with Blood Starved Beast especially second phase when She starts poison you. but not much with Amelia, I beat her on my first try.

I tried playing this for 2 hours before I got sick of the constant stuttering. I hate it, especially after playing Dark Souls 3 on PC at a rock solid 60fps. I might look at this game differently if I hadn't played DS3 before it.

I don't understand why they can't fix it and why this is an issue with all of their games.

That's pretty crazy, I would say Sekiro is From's toughest title by far. Bloodborne comes in at 2nd though, especially with the dlc.

Honestly i was saddened when i got the platinum trophy. I knew it was over for me. I miss playing it regularly, grinding, trying to beat bosses, ect. What a ride that was.

That happened to me after I finished DS3 on PC too lmao

I went straight to Bloodborne and couldn't do it. I didn't play Bloodborne again for like a year or 2.

Got this free with PS Plus when they gave it away ages ago and never managed to get round to playing it. Is it really worth it playing it today compared to when it was released? Never played a From Software game before Sekiro, I really liked Sekiro but ended up dropping it out of frustration, I have little patience but not a lot. Is this slightly easier? I mean I love a challenge but Sekiro became not fun after a while. I'm still thinking this is slightly easier though.

That's my opinion. When I turned it on recently I forgot it was released on PS4. Nevertheless, a great game.

If you are talking about graphics, FROM games never technical marvels but what they have in my opinion excellent art direction that makes up for not having high end graphics. But also thanks to that the amount enemy and boss diversity blows most high budget AAA games out of the water.

4k 60fps Bloodborne would be a dream come true (right after The Darkness from 2007 releasing on pc and getting duke nukem forever 2001 version).
edit: I really need to replay Bloodborne again but I have no idea what weapon to decide on. I did finished it with Ludwig's but could not finish dlc with it.

My personal favourite weapon in Bloodborne is one of the DLC weapon called Beasthunter Saif.

Got good enough to beat 2nd boss between fps drops and the move-blocking tombs and reach the third boss, which I only tried once. I dont need more lol.
If I understood correctly... If you gave up after one try with the third boss, then this is clearly not a game for you. I can understand this.

I remember I tried to beat Father G for A LOT of times. And I do mean a lot. It could be houndred times. Not exagerating. After making through this fucker it went better. I am amazed I didn't stop then, but I am glad I did not.

More than giving up, it was the sense of achievement I had after beating Father G and getting to the third boss without too much struggle, that I think it was enough.

I was really really hoocked believe me. Too much time sucking and stress.
But after getting through something that hard, I already thought I didnt need more. I dont know if I'm explaining myself well.

It was more like a rational decision of 'I cant continue like this'. but I really appreciate the game.

People overreact with fps drops and framepacing. It really is fine. I don't feel almost any problems and I am a 4k60 pc gamer with freesync.
Used to be 240hz gsync too... Bloodborne feels surprisingly snappy for 30fps game I would say

All clear bro, sense of acomplishment after beating Father G was something else.

I still remember this, my 100th or something try, I almost got him. then in his changed form he almost one-hitted me and with like 2% of health I managed to stun him whenhe was about to kill me once more and finis the fight. So lucky (it wasn't skill yet at this point), and so awesome. And I kept playing;)

No pro support was shameful. But they’ll waste money remaking demo-disc shovelware that no one ever gave a shit about from 1998 like medievil.

Best Metroidvania since Super Metroid. No souls game or sekiro can fucking touch it either.

And by being the best Metroidvania since super Metroid... it’s a GOAT!

God of War was great but Barlog’s Souls plagiarism still can’t touch Bloodborne.

Another satisfied player.

This one of this game that kills you, challenges you and yet it charms you and get you up your feet. You may die a tons of time, but theres will be no time you will ever give up from fighting. You may encounter some hardass bosses and may lose like 10 years of your natural healthy life in the process, but theres no ignoring Bloodborne. It almost like a call.

And when you reach the end of the game(the real one) you will face some hardass feelings.

boost mode plays really really well. playing on PS4 Pro i've seen very few framedrops. i'd say it plays about as good as Dark Souls III on my PC. which has framedrops from time to time! imagine that!

thank god i am not a framedrop Nazi. maybe it's cos i grew up with SNES games and had to deal with slowdown. i really don't care unless it's crazy distracting. this stuff, not crazy distracting.

The DLC is straight murder, in the best possible way. You're in for one of the treats of all treats.

Got both a new tv and a ps4 for this, and never looked back. Game is pure class. The night it came out I was up until around 5AM, transfixed the whole time.

(&Thanks to op for reminding me-- I had a game going back in July or so that I had forgotten so I picked it back up for Halloween's sake...)

I bet most people would be happy with a few Pro enhancements. I know I would!
