What Some reviewers are saying:

Hobby Consolas (original review in Spanish) 85/100

Ultimate Alliance 3 works great as fan service. It finds a good balance between "hack and slash" gameplay and RPG elements, yet combat mechanics are too simple.

TheSixthAxis 80/100
A couple of stripped back features aside, Marvel Ultimate Alliance is a great series revival that should keep new and old fans busy for quite a while. With DLC coming later this year, it will only get better.

IGN 78/100
In yet another take on the Infinity Stone saga, Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order is a fun and irreverent comic book story that pulls from an exceptionally wide pool of Marvel material. Its combat systems are fairly simple, but they were still surprisingly engaging as I excitedly experimented with different hero combinations while my roster of A, B, and C-list characters grew. Its vast array of post-game upgrades and other extras has been uninteresting so far, and there are (unsurprisingly) some inherited camera issues in co-op, but this superhero brawler is still a treat to play alone and with friends alike.

Game Informer 70/100
My time with Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 was filled with peaks and valleys. It has great moments where everything is clicking, followed by lulls where it all falls apart. The story never really gets going, however, but is a fun exploration of all things Marvel. For that, it delivers a little bit of fun, but this experience is all about the character reveals and getting to test them out, even if the worlds they explore and challenges within them often lack excitement.

Metro GameCentral 60/10
Shallow, stupid, and very repetitive but as long as you play with friends there’s a goofy charm to what is, for better or worse, the best Marvel team-up game in a long while.

I am so torn on this. I wasn't a huge fan of the originals because of the camera issues. This looks like the old ones which is probably a good thing for people who loved the originals. I'm close to grabbing it at Best Buy but I am wondering if a Sale with GCU would be a better thing to wait for.

ACG says it's a buy :lollipop_grinning: in the comments.

Added to the OP!

Yeah from the reviews I've read it sounds like it's very similar to the old ones...for better or worse.

does this support switch to switch multiplayer? would like to play this on the train with my buddy, but wifi is super spotty
There's support for local and online co-op. You can even do online co-op with a local friend.

I don't think anybody was expecting some massive AAA blockbuster material with this game. This an arcadey action RPG designed to be chewed through with friends. In that sense, these are pretty good review scores.
Some reviews were conflicting saying that solo was more fun since you can switch between the characters and thus making the combat less repetitious.

Literal whos are driving up the score. Sad this is mediocre but if anything it will at least be on sale in a month or two.

I'll pick this up on a price drop (if there is a price drop) - I personally can't see paying $60 for this, even though I think it will be fun.

Don't expect it to. Nor do I expect it to be on sale for long. Licensed Marvel seems to go away after a year and then these products are worth a good penny.

Good to see it doesn't suck, Game Informer beat the crap out of it on the podcast. I pre-ordered so I was going to be screwed if it sucked.

Yeah. Seems like a good game to buy for $20-30 and play through on a weekend or two with some friends.
But it's published by Nintendo. So there's probably going to be a new Avengers movie before this gets a considerable sale.

Right now I'm betting on a friend (who has said he is looking forward to it) buying it so we can play through it in local coop at some point

I'm having fun with it, but then again, I like certain Warriors games and can see myself powering up several heroes for the end game stuff. :p

I have a hard time seeing this game price drop anytime soon though. I myself am not interested in it but it is a marvel game so it might sell pretty good with all things marvel these days.

I have a Switch and would love to play this game, but honestly with the performance and it just being so low resolution, I don't think I could do it, that low ass fps would annoy the shit outta me. I'll wait for a PC release or one of the other consoles.

How is the single player?

Still very early in the game, combat is pretty straight forward with light and heavy attacks. The game only gave a glimpse how the heroes will power up. The writing is surprisingly as are interactions between the heroes.

Have you played any other Switch games before? Xenoblade 2, Octopath, Breath of the Wild, Dark Souls Remastered? So far in the early stages this game doesn't play noticeably worse than those games.

Of those you listed I've played through Breath of the Wild multiple times, enjoyed it, but enjoyed it substantially more playing it on Cemu. Mario/Rabbids, BotW, Mario Odyssey and Mario Kart are the only games I have for the switch. I like a lot of things about the switch, but I rarely use it as a portable so that aspect isn't super useful, and some of the performance and resolutions of Switch games suck ass.

isn't cemu wii u only? this is a switch exclusive game. you may be waiting a while
I'm not sure. Haven't really been keeping up with CEMU in the last few months, but I'm pretty sure Mario Odyssey works pretty well on CEMU, so I'd imagine it's only a matter of time. I'll say playing BotW at 3440x1440@60fps with my Switch Pro Controller was a fantastic experience.

edit: just looked it up it's called Yuzu, I just remember seeing the thumbnails of Odyssey running in 8k@60fps.

link if anyone is interested.

Ultimate Alliance 3 looks like a good time with buddies and I'm glad it's reviewing well.

Picking my copy up tomorrow but it'll have to go on the backlog for a while. Especially since Fire Emblem is next week.

Oh my mistake I forgot the PC have a Switch game reader.

Wait.
O wait. You're one of those guys that thinks emulation is piracy? Lol. Yeah, have fun with that line of thinking. You want to compare game libraries homey? This line of discussion is off topic anyways, so if you wanna continue this chat by all means hit me with a PM.

You don't think emulating a game you don't own is piracy? Because that is what I got out of your previous posts.
You want to compare game libraries ?
No. But your first post here said you were waiting to play it on anything other than the switch then proceeded to link people to a Switch emulator. I don't care what you do man but piracy talk isn't allowed here. People have gotten banned before that is all.
Gross.

I do not give a shit what you think. Emulation is NOT piracy. If you have an issue with that, take it up with a mod. It has been discussed on this forum ad nauseum for years and years. I never linked anything about piracy or discussed anything of the sort. Of the few games I've emulated via CEMU, it's all been games I own on my Switch or Wii U. I'm sorry that shatters whatever narrative you have made up in your mind, but emulation is not piracy plain and simple. I guess I could sit here and bitch and moan about the garbage performance of the game and shitty resolution in a review thread but I thought I'd just make my case and peace out. I just stated my stance on it of looking forward to checking the game out in the future.

Your reply says otherwise.
Emulation is NOT piracy.
It is if you don't own the software. Or are using roms that you don't rip yourself. Other than that I never said otherwise.
If you have an issue with that, take it up with a mod.
What? I would have just reported you rather than reply if that were the case.

I have cemu and breath of the wild, but then again I also own a switch and breath of the wild.
You dirty pirate.

I own Breath of the Wild on the Wii U AND the Switch. Makes me a double dirty pirate for playing it on Cemu.

I am loving the game but the audio mixing is messed up. There are sound FX missing in key moments and the overall sound seems like it’s very low and far away. Hoping it gets sorted because it’s really bothering me. Game is fun though

It's pretty fun. My only issue is that you cannot read the text in handheld and you get put in groups of four so you can't choose who you play as (at least at this stage). Also online seems to be greyed out for reasons.

The ACG review sold me. I enjoyed the first one on 360, but I’m honesty torn between this and Diablo which I’ve never played and seems like it’s similar.

I want to play through this with my son, but $60 seems awfully steep and $120 for 2 copies for us is out of the question.

Coming from someone who has literally never complained about the price of a game.
