Bloober Team announced Blair Witch for Xbox One and PC during the Microsoft E3 2019 press conference. It will launch digitally on August 30 for $29.99.

Here is an overview of the game, via Bloober Team:
From the masters of fright, this brand-new first-person psychological horror game will return players to the dreadful woods in an original story inspired by the iconic Blair Witch. Currently in development for the Xbox One family of devices including the Xbox One X and PC, Blair Witch is set to launch worldwide on August 30, 2019.

“We are so thrilled, and honestly a little scared, to bring all players, especially fans of Blair Witch, back into the haunted woods. It is genuinely an honor to be working on such a hair-raising, paradigmatic experience, which defined so many of our lives!” said Piotr Babieno, CEO at Bloober Team.

“The team at Bloober is made up of amazing storytellers. We were excited to give them the opportunity to craft an original narrative set in the iconic woods of Blair Witch,” said Daniel Engelhardt, Senior Vice President of Lionsgate Interactive Ventures & Games. “They’ve taken the evil hiding in the Black Hills Forest to a whole new level. Players should enter at their own risk.”

It’s 1996. A young boy disappears in the Black Hills Forest near Burkittsville, Maryland. As Ellis, a former police officer with a troubled past, you join the search. What starts as an ordinary investigation soon turns into an endless nightmare as you confront your fears and the Blair Witch, a mysterious force that haunts the woods.

From the creative minds behind the critically acclaimed Layers of Fear, experience first-hand the toll that fear can take on the mind in an original story. Blair Witch is a first-person psychological horror game that studies your reactions to danger and stress. Your darkest fears will awaken.

Funnily enough, this is actually the fourth Blair Witch game, which weren't terrible IMO. They were similar to Nocturne (same developer too IIRC).

Looking forward to seeing more of this.

I cant really muster up any excitement for this what with the first person view and the last two cinematic dumpster fires.

I dont know how people play these kind of games. I'm a 40yo man and i shit myself and switch them off as soon as anyhting scary looks like its about to happen.
Weird thing is, i have no problem with horror films.

I'm in the same boat, love horror movies, love the games too, just can't play them. This is why Let's Plays are awesome!

I’m intrigued. Hopefully game is better than the last two movies.
It does look like the new movie from a couple years ago.

In my opinion, this is a weird choice for a console exclusive. The movie sequels were critically panned and I personally thought the original was just okay, having rewatched it earlier this year.

I guess it's supposed to be Microsoft's answer to Predator: Hunting Grounds which is another movie game exclusive?

I'm definitely interested. The cool thing is that in a game, they can make you get lost in the forest very easily. Want to try and backtrack to your camp you walked away from 30 seconds ago? Good luck. We just removed the camp and put nothing but forest there while you were pointed in a different direction.

As a huge fan of the movies (not so much Book of Shadows), I am looking forward to this. I kinda wish I still had an Xbox to play the game, but my brother has one and I’m sure he’ll get it. I’ll play it at his house, but damn it would have been nice to have this on PS4 too. I am bummed. But I guess Xbox has to get SOME exclusives here and there. LOL.

I thought it was Alan too until the trailer scrolls up to a giant Blair Witch symbol. I like the original Blair Witch movie but too bad the games sucked when it comes to game mechanics. It did capture the scary mood quite well.
