Nintendo is pulling two of its popular mobile games in Belgium due to the nation's anti-gambling laws aimed at loot boxes. Fire Emblem Heroes and Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp will be removed from app stores on August 27th, according to an announcement on the company's website. Upon that date, neither game will be available to download or play. Players who have Orbs or Leaf Tickets can still use them until the game's removal. Due to the law, Nintendo also will not release any future games with similar earnings models in Belgium.

YAY! Less customer choice! No personal liberties!
Personal responsibility? Surely, you jest.

Screw the people who enjoyed those games.
We need to protect children because Steve was too stupid with his money and blew $1000 on an Animal Crossing costume.
Steve was totally the victim. Nintendo are the bastards. They held him at gunpoint and forced him to burn away all of his money in a game that he could choose not to play.
So we need look for self-control and moderation from the only entity more evil and power hungry than those greedy corporations: the government.
There's no possible way this will backfire! No, sir!

Good. Hopefully they'll eventually return to sale with revised monetization mechanics that don't rely on random chance.

I'm not American.
The liberty to choose and to live with the consequences of said choices is a universal concept.
In my country, military shooters (or games with anything resembling a military theme) are verboten.
All in the name of "protecting those impressionable children".

Just removing the shady Fortune Cookies from Animal Crossing was too hard I guess.

Of course it was. Removing the games is easier that spending time and money reworking the game to comply with the laws.
This is the monkey paw in action.
