2019 NFL Draft

I’m listening to the Elway and Fangio press conference right now and they claim QB was never a consideration for us, also claim nobody has sent them trade offer for Chris Harris.

I wouldn’t be surprised if they go o-like and CB in second round.

They had 31 teams offering them something for CHJ. The offers were garbage. Journalists across the US and even Canada know there were trade offers for CHJ.

I may be biased and getting a little uppity about CHJ.

So Broncos pick at 41 and 52 in the second round.

I am really hoping Dalton Rizner (o-line, Kansas State) falls to us at one of those spots. Really great player. Had a first round grade from a lot of scouts.

I think only one CB went in the first round, feels like there are a lot of talented CBs left as well.

Listening to the radio I hear a lot of people talking WR as well for one of those picks but this draft doesn't seem very stacked on WRs

ESPN showing that Simmons video was borderline malicious imo. Yeah it happened but they didn't need to go into it like they did. Shit like that in all honesty is why I no longer watch ESPN when given the choice. It smacked of a hit job by a PC corrupt network.

Reaction around here to the trade back - Fant pick is very mixed.

I would say half the guys I have listened to so far say they like the trade back but don't like the Fant pick, and the other half felt we should have stayed at 10 and taken Bush (who Pitt took there with the trade). Someone already calling it a "C- Draft" and I think that is way premature. We have to at least wait and see what we do with the pick we got from Pittsburg to judge the move. I think Fant is gonna be a big time playmaker we haven't had since Julius Thomas.

Truth is Fant would've been the first TE off the board top 15 had Hockenson not been that much better. It's a good pick and you got value by trading back solid B+ pick imo.

As a Bengals fan, looks like they took a good player at an appropriate spot for a position that needed reinforcement. The thing that worries me is that Cincy's track record for drafting o-linemen recently has been, charitably put, fucking horrible. Hope this bucks the trend. Maybe they'll aim for a QB in the later rounds--they desperately need a linebacker, though.

It's not just the pick that's bad but the value at where they got him. And the irony of picking a shitty QB prospect at pick 6 isn't lost on me either. This could be a historically bad pick for them.

Yes. Like I said last night, Jones would have been there when the picked for a second time, I think at 17. I do like the the guy they got from Clemson (I am brainfarting on names) at 17 but they could have gotten better d-line with first pick and Jones at 2nd pick if they really love him, which they clearly do, for reasons I can't fathom

For me the Redskins won Round One. Two star players, IMO, in Haskins and Sweat

Just my humble opinion of course, a year from now I could be way wrong about all this, I only can go off what my eyes tell me when I watch the film

My favorite quote From last night and I cant remember for the life of me who said about Daniel Jones was that The giants just redrafted Eli Manning but without the personality.

Giants needed a pass rusher not interior D line. Drafting Allen at 6 and Jones at 17 would have gone down better. They then traded back into the first round wasting draft capital to take a CB. If you're a Giants fan you can't have any confidence in the way they handled this draft. Gettleman will be out of a job in 2 years but the damage has been done.

I would argue they needed both, but I guess which need was greater is subjective. Overall I agree, Allen was giftwrapped to whoever would end up taking him once he fell out of the top 5. Bottom line is no one other than the Giants were taking Jones before Haskins or Lock, in my opinion. They fell in love with their guy and I guess didn't wan to "risk it."

I firmly believe that if you truly love a QB you HAVE to take him, no matter what, but this was a case where I feel they were the only ones in live with Jones and it cost them tremendous value.

Again, just my opinions.

Crazy that a pass rusher like Allen is still there for someone
Best pass rusher (Allen) falls to Jax. Probably not a huge position of need but hes too good not to pick there. Shocked he fell to them.

I've had pure joy for the last few years as a Kentucky season ticket holder watching this guy. He is something special, and I hear he is a great guy off the field as well, charity work, etc.

No fun for a Bears fan in this years draft, but I guess its hard to complain too much when we have Khalil Mack.

Nice.

I’m brain farting hard today on names, my meds have me feeling “floaty,” but I feel the Raiders shit the bit when they took (Clemson Guy) over Allen. It feels like they went with maybe a “safer floor level” then potential high ceiling level.

Curious to see if Will Grier goes in second round. Lock still on the board as well. I’m not high on either guy. Haskins was “The Guy” this year imo.

They have so many holes though you could argue DT just isn't a priority. Alternatively they could've taken Jones and Lock and still not be in any better position at QB. Last year was the time to draft a QB making this years reach that harder to accept.

Nobody in this years QB class really excites me much, armchair GM that I am. Someone will emerge to be great, of course, but I have no idea who.

So many great defensive players though, particularly DBs and Edge guys. I think that is why the couple really good inside guys went early, there is not as much depth down the draft at that position.

I really want the Bears to take Benny Snell to replace Jordan Howard. I need another Kentucky guy to cheer for along with Trevathan. All these years of Randall Cobb being an arch-rival have been pretty heartbreaking.

word is that Dolphins trading pick 44 (I think, or 48, whatever it is) for Rosen, some say deal is already done.

Would explain why they passed on QB in first round (to my surprise)

looks like it's going to be Rosen to Miami for the 48th PIck. Unless Rosen is a complete bust I still don't understand What the hell they are doing in Arizona. Just seems like a complet clusterfuck down there

When they didn’t go QB in R1 it was a pretty big signal they were looking at Rosen. They must not be in love with Haskins or Lock and figure that second round pick is getting top 10 talent value in their estimation. In that lens, it’s a great move. If he develops into quality starter it’s a huge win

I agree it is a great move for Miami. A second round pick for a potential future franchise QB at 2mil a year gives you great flexibility to build up the franchise. (even though personally I hope they all burn in hell). Besides their Isn't anyone in this draft I liked at all for QB, It just seemed like a down year for the position.

Almost time for round 2! I always love the second and third rounds. It's not as flashy as the first, but you really get into seeing what your team is trying to build for the future. I'm really hoping the Broncos will be investing in an oline these next rounds. Although there's a lot of chatter that they really need an ILB for Fangio to really sink his teeth in.

Lot of people had Taylor as a top 10 pick. Why did he slide? Was there an injury or something?

JAX gets a good tackle in Taylor

edit

guys on radio saying there was some medical concern for him, which is why he fell

Interesting.

Greedy Williams and Dalton Rizner there for us now. If Elway goes Drew Lock I would be pretty disappointed but it's possible.

Edit

I hope they don't get Metcalf. I know he runs fast in a straight line but I dont think he is a good WR.

They could go McCoy at center here too

Yea, I could see them going Center seeing as Pradis is gone. It sucked to see him go, but I understand why it happened.

Hes a local Colorado kid too

Great pick

Oh shit we traded up?? We are picking again!

I assume that Bolles is going to be asked to play guard, or Rizner moves to guard

Could have drafted a starter at CB, WR, or Center but we took a new developmental QB and lost backend picks.

Fascinating.

Did Greedy WIlliams piss hot on a drug test or something? How is he not drafted?

So the Arians/Licht braintrust chose a 4th round CB at the top of the 2nd round, Cant be surprised, let me share the last couple buccaneer 2nd round selections

2018 - Ronald Jones/RB = couldnt grasp the playbook and was a healthy inactive for most of the reason when the bucs were super thin at RB
2018- Carlton Davis/MJ Stewart/ CBs = 2 press corner who were made to play a 5-7 yard cushion off the ball, contributing to one of the worst defensive units in NFL history last season
2017-- Justin Evans/S = has potential, might be the GMs best 2nd round pick
2016 Noah Spence/DE = undersized and healthy scratch, ccouldnt even crack a spot in rotation
2016 Robert Aguyao/K= a 2nd round kicker who completed less than 70% of his attempts and routinely missed extra points/ Cut after his 2nd season

its a bucs life
